T-Rexes were flying F-14s? That’s why they use joysticks instead of wheels!

Plastic animals, and action figures never interested me as a kid in the 60’s and still don’t.

Hobbes is too much like Susie sometimes.

It makes no sense to think that F14s are deadlier simply because they’re piloted by T-Rexes.

Cal’s game is destructive. Hobbes’ game is instructive.

In the last panel you can hear Watterson arguing with his own inner child.

It’s interesting that Watterson always accurately draws specific, identifiable aircraft.

Bill was always great at drawing dinosaurs, but I’m 100% convinced the left side of the last panel appeared to him in a dream and he just had to get it out of his head.

Apparently, the F-14’s went through some sort of time portal back to the Mesozoic age. Great imagination…

I didn’t like Calvin and Hobbes when they were first run, but now they are so funny. Kind of like hating Queen when they were fresh and loving them now.

There’s no way their little arms would be able to reach the controls.

Probably my single favorite Calvin strip of all-time!

Sounds very much like the games I played with my younger brothers to keep them out of trouble on rainy days.

The artwork is most cartoons is, well, cartoony (especially so for xkcd, which compensates for it with its brilliant imagination). But just look at the artistry in this one. Magnificent! And Watterson had maybe a day or so to do it before the press of the daily deadlines forced him to move on.

Look at the detail on this artwork. The intricacy of comic strip artwork is massively underrated, which is ironic since they’re known as cartoony and simplistic
