I have a largely inactive account in where a posted a couple of Luann stories. I have never received a review there, which tells me something about my writing skills. Lately I’ve received a handful of comments that all read like this:

“Your writing is incredibly inspiring. I’m particularly drawn to the way you vividly describe scenes. I’d love to bring your stories to life through my minimalist art style in minimal amount. Would you be interested in collaborating on a project together?”.I’d love to know my writing is “inspiring” but I know it’s not. So I have refused to respond to any of these requests to collaborate. But I thought I’d mention it here as a warning for others.

Bernice and Luann finally have a nice chat and here comes the text that will bring chaos, because Bernice still can’t talk about what’s happening to Piro and they both like him. It seems more like the beginning of a year of torment, secrets, jealousy and sense of betrayal.

So what’re the odds that they will make it out of the bedroom during this arc? Looking pretty low to me. Another week of nothing.

Ahha. Wednesday. plot misdirection date; it’s seemed that Lu was musing, as per usual, about her romantic life, and lo and behold, Bernice gets a text (so 21st Century) from the mysterious Piro, implicating HER romantic life. I keep saying to look out for that, but I humbly admit that there are all kinds of ways to interrogate this wonderful comic and its incredible characters, so I’m not being critical, just pointing out the fun of the inability to predict the strip. Phil may still be in play. Lets wait and see. Double dating? Man that would be interesting.

Well, this toon fails the Bechtel Test.

You know the strip is practically doing a baseball hit to reader’s craniums, reminiscent of the famous scene in the movie version of the Untouchables where Al Capone used a Louisville slugger on an unfortunate fellow gangster, that clearly, to me anyway, that there is a competition going on about Piro with them both. I mean the third panel is res ipsa loguitor. Bern is repressed, Lu is just hot, but won’t admit it. And Piro is not hardly a bum. He and his cousin Tara come from an extremely, indeed dangerous family, he is aclearly troubled young man, who is sexy and fascinating nevertheless. Follow the story, not characterize the character per one’s own sense of propriety.
