Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Alfred is coming in late tonight/early tomorrow morning. The Bureau of Meteorology assures me that the track leads just to the left of my front door. I am, officially, doomed.
If the roof and the electricity stay on, I will read all your comments about how peaceful your local weather is (and you surely won’t deprive me of them) during the night and tomorrow. If not, I’ll be offline for a while.
I get here half an hour late because I was finishing up a book, and everything I planned to say has already been said. The book wasn’t even all that good. It was a relief to finally be done with it!
Yesterday I commented that I thought it would be “Papa” or “Father” discovering a broadcast … but did briefly wonder if Baba wouldn’t be making an appearance due to Bea’s involvement (and the fact we haven’t seen her for awhile). Though I didn’t think of Mags getting involved, which makes sense since Gutter is manning the control room. Although in the long run, I think it’s better for kittens and kits to be doing this than taking on Wicket or playing in the broken glass filled thresher!
There have been many efforts to de-extinct species with varying results. One of the more interesting attempts is the de-extinction of the Pyrenean Ibex. A cloned individual was successfully born(although the baby Ibex died seven minutes later due to a lung defect). This makes the Pyrenean Ibex the first and only animal species to have ever been brought back from extinction and the only Animal species to have gone extinct twice. I bring this up because a company attempting to bring back the wooly mammoth recently announced the creation of “wooly mice”, genetically modified rodents that have received a combination of mammoth and mice genes that make them have long hair. They are very cute.
Ora Zella disapparated quite nicely when she heard Baba’s voice. I wish I could figure out how cats do that. If I could disapparate to where I want to go and reapparate back at home, it would save me a goodly amount in bus and cab fare!
Daylight savings time (DST) is coming for most of the US. Just a reminder that Arizona (where I live) does not go on DST. We are the equivalent of Pacific Time rather than Mountain Time. Enjoy your “extra” hour of daylight. Hahahahaha!
OT Just had to share good news. I live in Arizona which has had very little rain and right now, it’s snowing!!! Merry Christmas. There’s a Christmas card view out my window as I write this. The only one not happy is Livy who likes to go outside first thing in the morning and has had to settle for curling up in the window instead.
Want to remind everyone that Robert Lay (rs0204) is going to be exhibiting with his books at the Tucson Festival of Books next Saturday (March 15) from 1:00 to 4:00 (ish). Would love to meet you. We will be in the Indie Authors Tent, which will be near Bear Down Gym. Anyone who can make it, stop by!
Very glad TinyKittens HQ brought Cjasper in for a checkup yesterday. Watched it LIVE. He really needed a full physical – not looking bright or well. However – sweetest feral kitty and champion lap sitter. (Yes Cjasper is correct spelling ;’) )
Alfred finally realised these are Modern Times, and he shouldn’t be down here. Faded quickly when he reached land, and now just a tropical low. By the time he got to me, the winds weren’t bad at all. I’m sure those of you who live on the Gulf of […………] have experienced a lot worse. I didn’t get a lot of sleep, though, listening to it.
(Modern Cyclones are supposed to stay in the North. Houses in the southern part of the state are not built to withstand them. Not built to withstand very much at all, actually. Australian houses are pretty flimsy.
In the old days, of course, cyclones wandered down much further south, sometime to NZ. And there were more of them, which annoys the Bureau of Meteorology. They were predicting an increase in numbers instead of a decrease, so to make up for it they are telling us the cyclones will be stronger. Climate people are professional, paid, doomsayers. I’m just an amateur. )
Waiting for the heavy rains, now. The wind didn’t get me. Maybe the water will.

Ora Zella should stick to the anchor desk. She’s dangerous if allowed to do field work (I suppose she’s dangerous wherever she is).

Still at the oPyramid Library
Iggy: My thirty-third act is speculative fiction.
Beatrixia: Oh, what makes it speculative?
Iggy: It involves the Royal Procurers. Since they never tell anything, everything I write about them is speculative.
Bea: Let’s sit down with these cinnamon donuts and spiced apple cider and you can sing it. Wait, where did these come from?
Agnes-Ata: We’ll never tell!
Bea: Wait. Isn’t it time for Obadiah Opossum to open the café?
Agnes: Yes. We’re bringing the donuts from Where We’ll Never Tell.
Bea: But I can guess Thomois made an extra batch.
Violet-Ifa: Maybe.
Bea: Anyway, Obie, do you want to hear Iggy’s aria?
Obie: Wouldn’t miss it.
