Also, three cheers for Natasha! Fastest mouse in the west! (Or east, I guess, since Rhode Island. But those mice out west would have to run their tails off to beat her too!) Love Elvis ushering the children to safety.
Into the safe room with the kits! Which would be … the bathroom? It’d be hard for the moles to get past the sub-floor, the plywood, and then the grout and tile. Of course, there’s always the attic …
Boy, every day’s comic so far this week has been a daily cliffhanger. I feel like I have been watching an action movie.
I remember the first action movie I ever saw, Die Hard (the first one). I fell in love with action movies. Whenever I watch one, I have a rush of adrenaline in my system! This week’s comics have released the adrenaline, for sure!
I just realized that since the 25th of September, the weekday and Saturday comics have all taken place in a period of one night. Can’t believe that this one night has lasted for a whole month!
So some of the moles have reached the basement? Awesome that Natasha was able to fly through the air and reach the crew in time to warn them. Just when we thought it was safe to exhale…… Wham!
There have been so many heroes in this saga. Thimblefist, of course. Bea, for protecting Magazine, Baba Mouse, and now Natasha. She needs a cup of tea and a cheese scone.
You know…they can probably just make sure the basement door is closed and, if possible, locked. I sort of doubt the moles could really get past it by themselves, at least not without also drawing the attention of the humans which would only guarantee defeat.
A thought just dawned on me. I think I see how the gum balls will enter the picture (and with a Three Stooges vibe). The moles will erupt from their tunnels, attempt to storm the stairs, and be foiled by a cascading torrent of gum balls courtesy of Lupin. Can’t you just see them tumbling backwards flailing their short little paws with gum balls stuck to their claws!
I’m anticipating Montague and Mona showing up to announce a “cease and desist” order to the remnants of the mole invaders… but before they arrive, Lupin and Goldie may need to enact a… gumball defense??
If any of our filkers is running out of ideas, I have one. Napoleon XIV’s They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha! https://www.youtube.Com/watch?v=1e13YjTPb_0 , about Wicket. I keep hearing:
They’re coming to take him away, Ha Ha
To the Wildlife Quinn
Where life was boring all the time
And that’s as far as I get before things get scrambled. {sigh} I used to be so good at writing, both filks and short stories. Then I was put on cytoxin for the last time and it’s a struggle to get what’s in my head down to my fingers.
Elvis hustles Puck and the kittens to the safety of an undisclosed location. Maybe they will take the dumbwaiter up to the attic? Far from tunneling moles, and it’s the right season to meet some of our ghostly friends up there too.

Good point about Baba Mouse protecting Wicket. I see a Grandmag who probably has revenge on her mind, and Violet still has an unused bag of flour.

Queen: We Will Rock You
The moles are coming, digging in the basement
Thinking they’re gonna conquer today!
They’ve got mud in their claws,
Giving us pause
Trying to get within these house walls
Shouting “We will, we will rock you!”
“We will, we will rock you!”
…….
The own is defeated, their king is alright
Time to set things right today
Time to stop the fight
Make it all right!
Let it be over, let’s all rest tonight!
No more “We will, we will rock you!”
“We will, we will rock you!”
…….
Lupin has the jar full
No rules, they are about to take a spill
This fight is about to end,
We’re gonna win!
Still there’s gonna be a really big din!
Shouting “We will, we will rock you!”
“We will, we will rock you!”

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Wicket: I’d like to give my descendant a real talking to!
Maat-Tilda: There is one more scenario to play out.
Puckmosis: Yes, the mole attack on the house.
Sophititi: That is the reason for the multicolored stones. They represent gum balls and their role in the saga.
Tillie: This has been captured in the famous song by Carole-Pharaoh:
I feel the floor move under my feet
I see the owl taken down
I know we need to hide the kittens and Puck
Before it’s all over now!
…….
Oh, Lupin! There’s a jar of gum balls
Wonder if they’ll be tipped over
Strictly by accident of course!
Natasha, you have been so brave
To get her to warn your friends!
I just know you’ve all got this!
…….
I feel the floor move under my feet
I saw the owl taken down
He was taken down
He was taken down, oh!

Well, you can tell by the way that Elvis talks
He’s tryna keep Pucky from bad shocks
Moles are proud and start to swarm
They’re Pink House bound
Intending harm
But now it’s all right, it’s okay
Natasha’s here to save the day
She has tried to thwart their goal
Blame Wicket’s effect on Monty Mole
Whether owl’s a bother that Baba’s gonna smother
Puck’s stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive
The moles are mistaken ’cause precautions are taken
And Pucky’s stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive

“I Disapprove of What You do, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to do It” – Evelyn Beatrice Hall-McCat.
Oh, now tell me where can you party, cat, all night long?
In the basement, down in the basement
Oh, where can you go when your kibble gets low?
In the basement, down in the basement
And if a storm is taking place, you can report and still be safe
In the basement, down in the basement
Where can you dance with any mole you choose?
In the basement, down in the basement
Oh, you got the comforts of home, a newsroom too
In the basement, down in the basement
There’s no cover charge or fee and the moles are there for free
In the basement, down in the basement
Where they don’t check your age at the door
In the basement, down in the basement
Run round and round and round till your feet get sore
In the basement, down in the basement
Make all the noise you want to, there’s no one under you
In the basement, down in the basement
Hey yeah
Oh, I know where you wanna go
Down in the basement
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
In the basement, that’s where it’s at
In the basement, oh, in the basement
Goin’ down, down, down, down
