Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
The old oak behind our house has a few hefty dreys built among the branches. I saw one of the squirrels climb around the limbs, harvesting dried leaves directly from the tree, and haul the material back to bulk up its nest. It snowed a few more inches today, laying a fresh layer on top of the 6 inches we got last week. The temperature is supposed to drop down into the single digits tomorrow night, so yeah, that was one smart squirrel.
Sigh this climate change really bites. We haven’t had a decent winter here (south west Sweden) for over 10 years. We get 0°c and a slushy rain/snow then the next day the fog comes in and melts what little snow we got.I miss the 1m fluffy snow fall of the Canadian Siberia (Alberta )
Mid-Michigan, snowed yesterday, snow today, -2 on the thermometer right now and colder tonight and tomorrow with more snow…Poor Beau just sits in front of the door and looks at me like, “Are you nuts?”
No snow in our forecast, thank Ceiling Cat! Very cold, though. It’s -22C with a wind chill of Cat knows what! The cats and I will stay in where it’s warm!
Swan Eaters is supposed to restart today. Alas, I have not reread the old one (two years worth!) so I can’t read the new one until I’m caught up on plot, characters, etc. Advice to all newbies here. Read the old Swan Eaters because (a) you’ll be lost on the new one and (b) Most Important, the old one is a lot of fun.
Meanwhile, here in eastern Idaho, it’s been an alarmingly lean winter so far. We’ve got snow, but not nearly as much as we normally would by now, further compounded by the fact that until the past couple of days, it’d also been unseasonably warm.
So far, no snow in our forecast here just outside Seattle—likely none up toward the foothills NE of Seattle either, which will disappoint the Boy and the Girl.
Brrr, it’s already below freezing, and the main water pipe to my house is either frozen or burst, apparently on the city’s side. Retribution for not washing my hair this morning. Anyway, I’d already taken the usual precautions of filling the tub, laying in a few gallons of drinking water, etc. A neighbor turned off the water at the street side. So now we wait.
Sad news Orbstirs: My Ziggy went over the Rainbow Bridge at about 9:00 PM January 20, 2025. I am heartbroken. Considering my age, she will probably be the last critter I will share my life with.

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
On the hill, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy with delight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the pack rat,
Here to stay is a goofy cat
His report is so long,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you married?
We’ll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you’re in town.
Later on, we’ll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we’ve made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the raccoons knock him down.
When it snows, ain’t it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We’ll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Walking in a winter wonderland,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Ora Z: Elvis, did you ever see the Land of Ice in your travels?
Elvis-Anum: Yes, I did. That’s how I found out about fire and ice together.
Ora Z: What’s ice?
Elvis: It’s water that’s been frozen. When we go to the Kat Kiosk in the mountains for ice cream, they use ice.
Ora Z: Where’s the fire?
Elvis: They have mountains called volcanos that spew fire, and water spouts that are boiling hot. They’re called geysers.
Ora Z: Just think. If we had geysers here we wouldn’t have to wait for tea.
Elvis: I think they are a bit too hot to make tea.
Enter Thomios
Thomios: Someone mention tea?
Ora Z: Me! Me!
Elvis: Yes, a spot of tea and perhaps a scone would not come amiss.
