O.M.G. Mordy told me it would be like this. I guess Gunther didn’t lie about Luann not being in his room; and that answers what all the noise was about. But flossing? And Luann being gone hours ago? And her car unable to start? And driving her home??? “Lies, lies and damned lies.”

Still protecting Luann reputation? I can imagine what Les would do with the knowledge of her being alone in G-man’s bedroom with the door closed!

So! Now what happens?? More light to heavy flirting? I await Mordy’s foggy crystal ball. ;o)

When Les sees that Luann’s car is gone tomorrow, Gunther’s deception will be uncovered. This raises the question of why any deception was necessary in the first place. Why didn’t Gunther and Luann just say “Hi” to Les when he came in, even though they were both in his bedroom at the time? Apparently nothing untoward was going on (Heaven forfend!!! The target audience for the strip wouldn’t stand for it!), but even if it were, so what? Les isn’t Bernice, making nightly rounds to write up post-curfew visiting infractions. Now, however, all the ruckus that they are making in shoving Luann out the window and then pulling her back inside may result in attracting attention from the Gray residence.

I truly am shocked, actually…. It seems these two may have a chance at a relationship after all. hmmmm…

They should wait until Les is in bed with lights out. Then Luann should go to the bathroom and pee – with the door open for sound to transmit. Then quickly back to Gunther’s room. Mr. Les could do a slow burn for the rest of the night.

I hope Luann spends the night. It’s time for a breakthrough for somebody in this epic saga.

Luann: “But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is Irma and Al, so I must skedaddle from here now, oh Heaven’s sakes.”

Gunthputzel: “Er, Um, OK. ’Night.” Window closes, Luann heads towards her carriage. Stage lights dim, curtain goes down.

Is this the beginning of a Gunther-Luann relationship? And what will happen when Tiffany finds out? Always thought the Tiff-Gunny was simmering. She might find she really wants him after she finds out she can’t have him. Hilarity ensues!

Realistically, we know that nothing untoward is going to take place in Gunth’s bedroom…but the two of them are likely to get caught, giggling and laughing over the posts they have been making on line.

If Les learns that Luann spent the night with Gunther, there could be a good follow up with Les trying to date Tiffany. Tiff might get Les to take her to fine dining at the same place Ann Eiffel goes. Les’s credit card balance would soon zoom north.

How gentlemanly of Gunther to conceal his torrid love affair with Luann from Les!

I was going to leave this comment yesterday when he showed off is Star Trek pajamas: With his talents he should be able to meet plenty of hot women into cosplay.

He should, only that he will critique their costumes and seat behind his machine and saw them better ones, so then those girls will meet other guys and get swept by them and tell him: “Gunthy, you are a girl’s best friend forever.” So that way our dorky hero will get sweaty and anxious and say: “phew, that was a close one! I’ve could’ve been kissed.” At least now he dont have “his best friend Irma” to blame for his dorkyness.

Let’s hope “Gunthy Steed” wont drop “Mrs. Luann Peel.” (3rd panel)

I sure didn’t see THAT coming. But I still don’t think they were making out.

Wow! I was wrong, Gunther does lie. Although I can’t figure out any reason he and Luann felt they needed to lie about her being there. Their behavior makes no sense at all.

On my house, if you push a screen out from the inside, the screen is damaged. Why would they go to all this trouble? Gunther needs to start acting like a man and not a little boy who is ashamed to have a girl in his room.

Yay for Luann and Gunther having some fun – probably good clean fun – which is the way a healthy long- term relationship could start. But I really miss Jack!

Weird. Aren’t they supposed to be adults at this point? Why in the world is Gunther concerned about Luann’s reputation with Leslie? “I don’t want my career criminal roommate to think you are anything but the most respectable of ladies.”

Wonder if Les will see Luann’s (and Gunther’s) new profile on the dating site?

And yet at least three attractive girls, to include the comic’s namesake, seem to be drawn to him.

2/24 LuAnn keeps purple coat on.

2/16 Enters bedroom and coat is immediately taken off and on the bed. Also not eht expression on LuAnn’s face in the last panel.

2/21 Coat is not on LuAnn. Where is the coat now? Under the bed, out in the car? Don’t leave things to be found!

Next comes the off balance stumble. Gunther already has her in his arms and they fall, giggling, onto the bed where they suddenly stop giggling and start kissing. That brings us to Saturday and the end of the arc. Works for me.

Any day Les decides to move away, gets hit by a bus, or goes to prison won’t be soon enough. His character disgusts me beyond belief.

Lost in all the hoopla: Luann has really nice legs.

Wiped out last night, so my comment is late, but great (lol). First of all I told y’all so, well I hedged it, but of course. Of course Luann was still in or in the vicinity of Gunny’s room, and they had been together all that time. That explains all the noise AND IT’S OBVIOUS, to me, THAT HE IS PULLING HER BACK IN. She will probably stay all night , or at least until as late as they think Les will be sound asleep, and she will drive home. If they engage in sex, well that is to be a source of speculation, wonderful the two life-long virgins. ONE THING THIS LUANNFAN (DON’T YOU DARE I COPYRIGHTED THAT -:) HAS ALWAYS SAID LUANN HAS GROWN INTO A VERY DESIRABLE HOT COLLEGE GIRL. So for those trolls who disparage her looks, well poop! By the way I think all the females in this strip are actually quite attractive, just different versions, like Dez, or Bernice. They both can rock. Of course Tiffany to, but right now true panel fans are very worried about her. I think she will be okay, Luannverse will rescue her some kind of way. That last panel should erase any doubt. Wouldn’t you want to be sneaking that willing blondie, all grown up now, in your room, even if all you wanted to do is laugh and be comfortable, together, and put one over on Leslie?

Gunther is a dud…until he’s a stud, at which point he’s not “Gunther” anymore but a new Gunther. People change, you know?

Suppose Gunther and Luann were to spend the night together, and they openly confirmed it to Les or to anyone else who inquired? So what? Would the De Groots disown Luann, cut off her tuition, and toss her out of the house? Would Mr. and Mrs. Gray do the same with Gunther? They are both legal adults now, not 14-year-olds.

What chaste activity will they really be doing? This is a classic mislead that this comic always does in any situation that could lead to physical intimacy for a main character (before marriage anyways). And I think it has been made pretty clear by the writing that Luann will be a virgin until 10 years after getting married. And I assume any children she has will be adopted.

An interesting turn-of-events but there will be no romance between Gunther & Luann. Didn’t she refer to him as a “frog” not too long ago?

Just looks like, to me, the ‘toon is ending, with Luann ended up married to a man who will always be somewhat disparaging of her because she isn’t as booksmart as he is, and her giving up any idea of a life beyond being a full time housewife and mother to his 2.7 kids…

One more comment and Luannfan1212 is out for now: she obviously is going back in his room, with the obvious statement that this is “well this is one way stud” Very sly. Any other interpretation is a reluctance to accept that Luann in particular could be in a possible GASP sexual situation, I mean she is only a 19 or 20 year old college girl you know. Oh and Gunther is sexless, NOT. If they did or did not I am really curious as to what, if any hints, upcoming panels this week will show by Saturday. But folks Luann is growing up, she is not that cute fat faced little girl in the early comics, or the hapless high school girl in the intervening comics.

I kind of believe these two are going to end up together after this month is over. And reasoning being I think is because this is the month of Valentine’s, and this whole arc has last the whole month of February, and usually an arc will only go two weeks at least, so something’s going to happen. What if Gunther asks Luann to be his Valentine.

Is it me or is that a different outfit?

“Relationship” or no, it seems like these two have a really close friendship to where they seemingly lost track of time while hanging out (since Les returned home and they were at least a bit surprised by it).

Part of me wants to see them test the waters just a bit…try one date and see if there’s any chemistry there. If not, they can call a spade a spade and leave it at that.

This would never work for me. I’m a screamer.

Ok, not behind the door. But I’m assuming everyone who told me Luann wouldn’t have a reason to hide will come back to say I was correct. ;)

Oh this is precious – I honestly never expected this kind of twist in Evan’s work. So what happens next? I’m genuinely curious, and while I like Jack, I’m not against Gunther x Luann if they both manage to grow and mature some along the way. Probably not gonna happen, but it’s still fun to watch.

Is this a sea change moment for this strip, like, maybe a little injection of reality for a change? I found my roomate’s girlfriend in my shower one morning, and a lady friend of mine’s roomie walked in on us unannounced while we were “busy”, more than once. To think that all of these twenty somethings in this strip have maintained pristine innocence is stretching belief. Of course, Les makes the most noise about it, so he is probably participating the least.

Why did they hide Luann? There is no reason to lie, they are old enough to do what they like. That being said, keep Gunther in the friendzone. No chemistry there. And I like Jack. Better would be to see Gunth try that dating app. More storyline possibilities.

Even if Luann were to spend the night in Gunther’s room, she would just… spend the night in Gunther’s room. Ain’t nothin’ gonna happen here, folks.

I was wondering what the scraping noises were a few days ago. Today, we learn it was the sound of the window being opened, and the screen removed.

Les probably recognized those sounds, and knows Gunther lied about Luann’s car not starting. Les may be watching her car, or taking other action, expecting to catch Gunther’s lie.

Why does he care what Les thinks? They’re all old enough to do whatever they want.

Damn. This is beginning to resemble a Brooke McEldowney comic. And here I was thinking Evans couldn’t get my attention.

Say what now? I question the necessity of all this secrecy. Why would they have to hide the fact that she was in his room. None of Les’s business anyway. And if they were that afraid of rumors spreading then they probably shouldn’t have went to the bedroom…

My vision for tomorrow: Panel 1 Gunther has Luann inside and they are both laughing and having fun together. Panel 2 Gunther & Luann are on the bed side by side fully clothed and still laughing. Panel 3 they have gone to sleep in a semi embrace. I think that would be the most romantic moment so far in Gunther’s young life.

This is just confusing on several levels to me. And the confusion remains whether Gunther and Tiffany did a) nothing, or b) kissed/necked a bit, or c) fully engaged in copulatory behavior:

1. Why all the subterfuge?!? Why would either of them care if Les caught the two of them in a bedroom, regardless of what they are doing?

2. Pushing out the screen in a bedroom window in a pretty damn close to new home seems kind of poor form to me. I can imagine that Al might find that a bit annoying.

3. In today’s panels Gunther is pulling Luann back in…. and at least she appears to be laughing and having “fun” with whatever this is about. Could it be that she (and Gunther for other reasons) were just pulling Les’ leg to try to aggravate him? If so, it still seems odd, but is perhaps a reason for all this.

4. The car start conundrum is problematic too. Now, what will happen? Will Luann just go out and drive her car away? Will Les hear it drive away? Will Gunther push it in neutral until it is far enough away that Les would not hear? And, even so… Les would notice it gone in the morning. But again… why all the hiding and lurking??!?!!

I cannot fathom what Greg has in store here…. it is too strange.

It’s great to see how they can easily make fun of Les. And when Luann laughs is a wave of joy. She’s adorable in the last panel.

So, reliving your unfulfilled teen fantasies here is some sort of gratification???

I’m guessing he’s sneaking her back into his room so he can teach her how to sew.

Gunther didn’t respond by pointing out that Les has never met a woman willing to visit their house for Any Reason.

I believe Luann and Gunther would be described as flirty friendship. Long term friends but the hormones are not suppressed. When the hormones kick in the “friendship” can get pretty intense – as this most recent episode.

That last scene says it all. She’s leaving his room through a window calling him Stud and bubbly. Seems like she had a great time however that’s defined. The aftershocks should be interesting from this quake.
