Reaaallly…

Not to toot my own horn, but this scenario sounds a lot like an idea I talked about inn this forum a couple three years ago. I called it The Estrogen House. Basically Luann gets tired of her parent’s early curfews, gripes about to Tara who suggest they rent one of the slum houses near the university and recruit a few friends to in on sharing the rent. They talk Dez and Bernice to join them and at the last minute Tiffany wants in on it so she can scam her father, Every month he deposites money for room and board in her checking account, Instead of writing a big check for the private room she would move in with them, saving a bundle on room which becomes she essential spending cash. And with all these girls under one roof “hilarity would ensure,” – This is pretty much what GnK are doing with the quad, except no Luann or Bernice and the addition of one over-sexed female-thing. So I assume that GmK are reading this comments and stealing the good ideas.

Has anyone wondered where Tiffany will spend Christmas holidays? Will her dad take her to Europe like he used to do before Ann Awful ruined her life?

I know I am going to ruffle a few feathers, but I like the Bets and Gun relationship and I do hope it is permanent. They compliment each other very well. Bets is a strong personality, outgoing and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is also controlling and vein. Gunther is more introverted and emotionally stable and tends to blend into the background. Bets has some baggage, and possibly an abusive background. Gunther was sheltered to death by his mommy. But together, they all fit. With her Instagram and her popularity, she pulls Gun out of his shell and go cosplaying and are out there for her millions of followers. He is creative and can make their own costumes. She is emotionally weak, which Gun helps pull her out of and gives her confidence.

Things are getting pretty serious in the Gunther-Bets arc, apparently. Greg has used the dinner with Al and Irma to advance or shift characters. The dinner with Tiffany brought her character to a head in admitting he senses of loneliness to Gunther. Later it was revealed that her crisis was due to her father getting serious with a woman (Ann Eiffel, though she didn’t know who at the time). Also, after the dinner, Gunther convinced Tiff to avoid Les’ crude advances. For a time it appeared that Greg was flirting with a Gunther and Tiffany hookup (May 2015). But in March (https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2016/03/16) he friend zoned the two and tried Bernice. In February 2019 he flirted with Luann as a match up yet again at her first visit to the Gulag. And, as with the Tiff dinner, Les came across crudely.

Then in April 2019 Greg introduced a new character, Bets. In this strip Greg asserts, via Gunther himself, that Gunther needs a strong character to follow. (https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2015/05/01) In January 2020 Bernice (aka Greg) describes Bets’ body language as “aggressive, dominant, bossy.”

Well! Apparently Greg may have settled on Bets! The last time Gunther hooked up with a dominant female, Rosa lured him off to Peru. Is Greg signalling another attempt at dropping his _enfant à problèmes _ from the strip?

I missed yesterday somehow? Still don’t think he’s ready for the intimacy part of their relationship. Bets sure does go from anger to arousal fast. Seems she wants him to prove she is his one and only.

Darn, my only frustration is that sexual activity is not intimated between Bets and Gunther. Leaving the possibility that they are not “doing it” untenable. But GnK decided to use recurring characters, Steph, the cheer slut and QB hunk Kip for that purpose. I think the misdirection here is inspired. Who would’ve have thunk it? Hot young adults who don’t have to PDA their passion.

I doubt Gunther’s segue is due to morality. More likely Gunther is afraid he will look bad due to his inexperience.

If Bets realizes the implications of this conversation, she will break off this relationship immediately and completely. Otherwise, she will spend the coming years playing second fiddle to Mrs. Berger. Just ask Rosa, whom Gunther claimed he loved but whom he left behind in Peru because he had to come home and “save” his Mom from the attentions of Mr. Gray.
