Do the same circle, but put the comma between the two and the three.

I view that answer as being open minded. Some might view it as bipolar.

Bernice’s original diagnosis back on Jan. 4th appears to be correct. And why not. She knows Luann the best.

Yup. She has a long road ahead of her. She is unable to define herself because she doesn’t know herself.

Mrs Fogarty is going to have fun evaluating Luann’s placement test. G&K are most certainly are making Luann look like she really is clueless about a lot of things in life besides her future career path. I guess on the positive side, circling all 5 choices and asking which day might be construed as “thinking outside the box” as many people may feel confident on certain days and very insecure on others, especially if they have a weekly event they do not look forward to (like a staff meeting or presentation) but lets face it; Luann is currently lost.

The answer is one? Or maybe a 5 for being confident about circling all 5 numbers.

Again! We’ll just have to wait for the end to see if this will go anywhere.

I’m beginning to consider that Luann is in serious need of psychological counseling.

It’s a miracle that girl graduated from high school.

I use to like these kind of lightweight, foo foo sort of tests that use to appear in magazines. By answering a .mere 10 or 20 questions you could discover what movie star you are most like, or how good a lover you are. Now days all my tests somehow involve a stethoscope and blood pressure numbers. They don’t care if you are a great lover, they just want to make sure that you’re not dead.

Looks like the answer to “May I move?” is “No.”

Luann’s inner crisis couldn’t be more evident, poor thing♡. But that “Which day?” is actually a good question and show her irony. Luann’s test result will be really interesting, can’t wait to see what it will be.

In the 2nd panel she’s left handed and then in the 3rd panel she’s right handed. No wonder she’s confused.

We really don’t know how well Luann is doing on this test. So far we’ve seen her answers to a whopping two of the questions. And those two questions are pretty much the same question asked two different ways.

So they’re leaving themselves plenty of room for Fogarty to come to a larger conclusion as to what would be a natural direction for Luann to investigate, based on the questions we aren’t seeing.

Panel 2 is not so unusual. Often (even as a joke) people ask us "how’s it goin’?, and we reply “depends on what day it is”.

Has Luann ever thought about discussing this with her parents?

Or are Frank and Nancy equally clueless?

Interesting the way the writers are doing this. Either this arc is going to “dull” itself to death or they’re giving Mrs. Fogarty a lot of info to wade through to help Luann.

While the intent of this might be to make the reader chuckle, this just makes Luann appear dim.

This is going to be 30 days’ worth of comic strips as we tediously watch her answer every test question in a quirky fashion.

I have to admit, I took a few of those job-search aptitude-type tests between high school and my first year of college… Really didn’t do squat for me…

Bad surveys tell more about the writer than the subjects.

Luann isn’t really as confident or secure as she looks.

I think many people answer to fit in with their own conception of who they are. This is a form of Bayesian reasoning — building in the answer that you expect to see.

And don’t forget: Dunning-Kruger effect, a bias whereby people with limited knowledge or competence in a given intellectual or social domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence in that domain.

I tried something similar once on a test and the professor didn’t see any humor in it. Got that answer marked wrong.

Many see Luann as indecisive, I’d call it self aware. At age 19/20 how many people could say what number they were on a regular bases? Luann is acknowledging that some days she’s in control and confident about what she’s doing and what’s happening and some days the day is a learning day or worse. Good for her!

This is why I don’t much faith in these Meyers Briggs type tests.

Make your Likert Scales an even number. It forces the respondent to commit one way or the other.

Out of curiosity, has Luann always been left handed?

I am so ready to get back to the Tiffany/Gunther dash-n-flash story arc……this aptitude testing arc is causing me to have flashbacks…..

I found the Myers-Briggs very helpful. It took awhile for me to sort out the conclusion that I was a verbal thinker, learner, and was best suited for writing, teaching, law, or law-related, and darn if that did not happen. It helped me sharpen the spear so to speak. This is excellent and should be both interesting and hilarious for both.

When I took the psychological profile exam for the police department, I remember laughing out loud at some of the questions. The only question I can remember from the test was “True or false” I sometimes feel like jumping out of my own skin." Some of the questions were SO stupid, even a crazy person would know not to answer it the wrong way.

Reminds me of a guy I know EVERY time I ask him a direct and open question!

Youth is wasted on the young.

It also shows LuAnn is capable to think outside of the box and is more flexible in her thinking.

Luann speaks for a lot of us today.

Luann is going to fail this test. That is hard to do.

Haha! That’s me (not insecure but overanalyzing the answers!) I usually think, “If I put this, they’ll wonder that…etc.” Not a great test taker! Essays show what you DO know, tests reflect your quandary!

Boy, are these aptitude tests difficult.

That’s exactly how I feel. I’m not indecisive, just take time to weigh all the possibilities! Some call it procrastinating, but it’s really taking time for deep reasoning! Lol! And I have been accused of thinking too much! ;-D

I feel sorry for Luann. She is apparently not ready to take charge of her life yet.

So Toni and Brad live together and have mentioned kids, Bernice has her obsession with boys, Shannon is still a brat but she’s a little kid, etc

So where is the “new” Luann? I mean at least Tiffany is realizing that after High School, life is different. Nothing is changing for Luann except she left her job working with kids. It’s almost like G&K are stuck and don’t know how to advance with their main character.

Luann used to write poems.

She kept an tape-recorded diary of her thoughts.

She could sing (and made a record with Quill using one of her poems)

She could act (High School production of West Side Story)

She had an uncanny gift for stage design (which was stupid and promptly forgotten)

She liked working with children (Both in a library reading program and with Kidz 1st.)

She was offered a teaching assistantship in chemistry but turns it down. She was offered a teaching assistantship in Art and accepted that,

All of this has been forgotten by the writers because they don;t want to write about Luann, ever. Period, End-stop.

But there are so many story potentials here. Luann could spend a week trying to sell some of her poems to some of the many literarry magazines in this country, or a book of her poems. Luann could try to edit her old thoughts and observations into s memoir, “Thoughts of a 13 year old girl,” She could join a band. She could continue acting. In fact it looked as if the Fuse and the introduction of Pru was intended to support Luann’s acting career, but somehow that got dropped. As for her working with childs, we could have weeks of Luann at Kidz 1st dealing with Shannon level problems without Shannon herself.

The other thing is that the strip was about Luann, what she did and thought, and her interactions with her friends, Occasionally one of her friends would have a week or two to themselves but it always came back to Luann, This gave a strong sense of unity to the strip. The current practice of rotating story arc creates a very fractured feel to the strip. And the need to rotate the stories frequently means story never finish. What about Tiffany and Stef> What about Bernice and Nil and Jack? What about Gunther and Bets? Where did they spend the Christmas break? What’s Shannon up to? Is Toni pregnant? With so many storylines the strip needs one strong central character to hold it all together. And it doesn’t have that.

Hmmm, that would be a 1 since they ain’t no negative numbers.

She’s what… 19? How many of us at 19 knew for certain what career path we wanted to follow? I know I sure didn’t. Matter of fact, I was well into adulthood before I realized what my ideal “dream” career would have been, by which time it was far too late…
