A Brad and Toni strip that reads just like some of those old, old, old Frank and Nancy strips. How about a strip that doesn’t criticize the other person.
If I am reading this correctly, if Brad does not like something Toni does, instead of complaining about it, he fixes it. Toni, on the other hand, just complains about what Brad does.
A nod to Brad and Toni. The history bomb of the year is having your husband’s father be crowned King of England and the little actress, with the hurt feelings, sends her Prince alone across the ocean to honor his father, then hurry right back for their son’s birthday. That is one marriage doomed to end up on some very big rocks.
Same at my digs. Everone leaves drawers and cabinet doors open an I run around behind everyone closing em. Betcha I’m good for about at least 40 a day.
Does anybody remember that “reality” show, Newly Wed and Nearly Dead, where a psychologist worked with couples that were having issues? One episode, the wife would chew with her mouth open (disgusting) and the husband would throw away the toothpaste cap instead of putting it back on.
The next person to buy toothpaste, buy toothpaste with a flip cap. This is not a quarrel. This is a discussion on behavioral observation. I have a sister. After she has gotten snack out of the kitchen, the place looks like a poltergeist has been there. The cabinet doors are all open and half of the drawers are pulled out. What odd is she knows where everything is stored.
They really are a beautiful couple. Very different, but very united. It’s good that Toni warns Brad about his forgetfulness, he should do it too instead of just closing the drawers without saying something to her.
My wife leaves the drawers (and closets) open, so yes, I go around closing them. But we’re 32 years into that, so it’s more just natural movements for us.
Brad has learned that minor things like this aren’t worth talking a about or inadvertently starting an argument about, you just take care of it yourself. I do.
One could argue that by closing the drawers without her knowing, he doesn’t give her a chance to correct a little bad habit and that by telling him about what he is doing wrong, she helps him improve himself… But I dare you, in real life and if it were your wife, to leave the drawers as they are and then tell her, as she does with him, that she keeps leaving them open. How many want to bet she would reply that you can easily close them instead of complaining?
I’m sure that Toni and Brad could find more faults with each other, and, spend as much time making up for them with each other. Which might finally get Shannon a little cousin to play with.
This might explain why I’m not married. I have like seven vacuum cleaners, do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, organization and shopping. And if I was married, I would have to have two full baths one for each of us. Nobody wants a husband like that.
I had an apartment as a Senior Assistant at college… where everyone would gather of course, and one of my friends would come in and without a word go around closing every open door and drawer in sight. …so we started opening stuff just so he’d be happy. ;-)
Just lost my wife go 31 years on Xmas day, suddenly. I’d do anything to have all her faults back with me…Seriously, Cherish the one you love…gone way to soon
I leave stuff—like meds—out on counters for a memory trigger. Spouse hates that and always puts her in cabinet. About once a week, when I ask—“I forgot to take them.”
Many husbands do a lot of small things for their wives and don’t expect anything. Altruism at its best actually as it keeps marital harmony. Many Women find the splinter in their partner’s eye neglecting to see the log in their own. It can go both ways of course but women seem to get more upset over those small things than guys do……
My wife always left the closet door opened about 6 inches. It drove me crazy. At first I tried to remind her, but she didn’t comply. So now I just silently close it whenever I see it left open.
They haven’t even gotten to the serious stuff yet. . . . TP – over or under; Toothpaste – squeeze in the middle or from the end? Cry Havoc, and release the dogs of WAR!!!
“I close them without making a big deal about it. But thank you for letting me know what bothers you so I can correct my behavior. I love you far too much to ever intentionally make you unhappy.”
My ex would leave the covers of jars unscrewed. When you tried to reach a jar in the back of the refrigerator and pick it up by the top it would fall and spill everywhere. Ugh. I learned.

Brad, My lad, you’re making three HUGE errors here today:
1) Not grovelingly acknowledging that only males make “mistakes.”
2) Daring to point out that Toni also has “flaws.”
3) Not taking full advantage of a very rare, “Shannon-free” moment. :-)

Who leaves the cap off the toothpaste?? That’s wierd and must be stopped LOL!
But seriously, the best thing to do is comment every day about a good thing your partner has done. Seeing bad habits is easy.
