Sophie needs a Special Delivery, courtesy of Postman Gutter, not a misguided cat rescuer. Another reason to microchip!

Oh, no….

OK, but we know Sophie is microchipped, because there’s no way that her Woman, a vet tech, would not microchip her not-safe-to-be-outdoors cat. The question is, will these humans, if they successfully pick Sophie up, think to check that?

OK, we know Sophie has a chip. Please tell me those concerned folks, if they can successfully try to “save” Sophie, will check the chip!

I can’t stand the suspense.

Hmmmm. Knowing that People characters are often based on real people, I wonder who these characters are drawn from. But surely that kind of background information this early would be spoilers!

Run, Sophie, RUN!

This is painful to watch for someone who has had a pet disappear. I was hoping g for a romance

I’m thinking if Sophie is anything like Trouble, her “feral” instincts will kick in and she’ll run for it. If any “stranger” dares approach Trouble, he runs 100 miles/hr up to our third floor bedroom and hides under the bed (alongside the ghost of his dear sister Mischief, whose paws I can feel on my feet at night, no doubt).

Unexpected, plot twist! Ow! My hip!

Cue the crazy Cat lady theme music:

Why would anyone with a grain of sense think a cat wearing a dress is " all alone in the world"?

Let’s spare a grateful thought for the kindness of strangers and good intentions and the existence of micro chips. All will eventually be well but probably several more plot twists down the road.

Puckmosis: While things are a bit confused in the present day story, Kitty Katz is presenting an encore story line in honor of her great-nephew, who is called John for online purposes. Not sure if she mentioned he and his mom and dad live in Japan.

Oh, come on. She’s in a yard. What kind of person would “rescue” her from a yard without at least ringing the bell and seeing if she’s theirs?

Wouldn’t Sophie have a collar? I’m not a pet owner, so I’m perhaps incorrectly assuming all pets have name and flea collars.

My first reaction was at least Sophie believes there is a mailman that would help her. I hate long arcs like this. It makes me nervous.

OT news on a comic no longer on GC

[GASP] A (well-intended) cat-napping!

hope she has a microchip.

Well, this is a very worrisome plot twist and not at all the romance we were all imagining.

Also, the driver looks vaguely familiar. Do we know these people?

Hope she has a name tag with the Woman’s phone number or is micro-chipped

I think this is exactly what happened with Shadow. He was known to roam the neighborhood freely. He often visited the TNR colony next door. He was fixed, microchipped, and had a silver reflective collar. I had to keep buying new ones because he’d slip right out of them.

When I was putting up signs with his picture all around the neighborhood, a kid who seemed to be from the local community college came up and said quietly “somebody’s got him.” He said a lot of elderly people on those little side streets took in strays and mistaken-for-strays. When I went to the local pet supply place to put up my signs, a couple of women came in and told me the same thing. I did go door-to-door on those streets. Many people said they had seen him, but nobody had him.

The TNR guy had recognized and approached him in his yard but he ran away. I had suspected him of having a second home for some time, and he had had some serious fights with Meimei. I was finding clumps of black fur in the hallway. It’s possible he just didn’t want to live with another cat anymore.

He would be 19 this month. Shadowman, Captain Adventure, I wish you well.

I’m hoping when the story arc is concluded we have some new friends.

This is not the plot twist I was hoping for. I hope Sophie has the sense to run from these well-meaning but clueless strangers.

(gasp) No, nonononononono.

Tommy’s Woman, save Sophie! Or maybe a certain raccoon will help.

At first glance, these people seem kindly (if clueless). Since this isn’t Disney™, I’m gonna rule out Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Captain Hook type characters. If that lady is going to try to get her mitts on Sophie, I hope she at least has some ham. (Meanwhile, I’m making popcorn and a variety of beverages for what I expect to be a great show.)

I hope she’s chipped, and they check.

All the discussion on chips reminds me that when we adopted Jonathan A. Cat, we were told he had been chipped. It turns out, they had gotten a chip for him, but it was never implanted! The adoption agency mailed it to us and Jackie-Boy has a vet appointment next week.

(At least we checked the neighborhood for possible owners of the lost kitties we found.)

Um. Somewhat tangential to the primary thrust of this, but…doesn’t the existence of a mailbox for Apt 1 rather strongly imply at the least one more mailbox? I don’t see those of the BPH causing the postal person to stop multiple times. (nevermind that we’ve seen a postal person come to the door)
