A friend of mine gave me some Winter Sweet as a gift . . . and I had to throw it out. Did my research immediately and found out it’s a poisonous plant for cats. :( Can’t have anything green in the house. Trub will eat it and poison himself.
And then Pucky gets a mouthful of cilantro and he proceeds to machine gun fire 57 hairballs and the remnants of his last three dinners at the wall in just under two tenths of a second…
I used to have an oregano plant as an inside plant when first married and with first solely owned cat (as opposed to family cats growing up). That did not last long as Mephistopheles liked to rip it out of the pot, throw it on the floor, and roll on it. I decided that as a member of the mint family it was DOOMED and gave up. My husband also saved a bundle on buying me flowers since Mephistopheles firmly believed in demolishing bouquets by pulling out the various bits and dropping on the floor. Nicodemus is more apt to knock the vase on the floor (he is the klutziest cat I have ever met — but doesn’t care).
The woman must not cook very much. I have a raised garden outside my back door. It is a good sized herb garden but it will just barely get us by. I’m a scratch cook and baker and love to use fresh herb’s whenever possible.
Puck is a natural dancer. His moves reminds me of those way back dance crazes, like the mashed potato, wahtusi, electric boogie — little o’ shimmy, some sliiide, and a whole lotta swagger
Handsome, suave, perfectly groomed, graceful, irresistible… I could go on and on, but the upshot here is that Pucky should be cast in that popular tv show, “Our IX Lives.” He’s a natural.
We’re very lucky to have two cats that HATE plants. Despite this, Roy had become I’ll suddenly, not eating, drinking, and sleeping constantly. We called our regular vet, but he has retired. So we called around, and ended up taking him to the Vet who euthanized my dog in 2007, and Barb’s cat in 2009. Very weird being back there, but they gave him sub Q fluids, and ran his blood and everything came back great, no issues! No fever either. I have taken a urine sample and will find out Monday if anything is wrong. It’s take 3 days to get him to eat, he’ll nibble his treats half-heartedly. But will devour cooked chicken, and of course, shrimp, still won’t drink. I’ve taken to using a BBQ brush dipped in water to"paint" his paws, so he will lick it off. He has become much perkier and interactive. But his nose is still dry and warm, and he won’t drink or eat his wet food. I have given up my side of the bed for the couch the last 4 nights, as he has been sleeping in our bed. He usually sleeps in his condo, as we lock him out for the night.
Puck, being a Smooth Criminal. And can’t we all hear the woman very clearly with the “PUCK.Y”? I would have used a hyphen, but Georgia’s way is much better!
At a time when we didn’t have outdoor cats, my mom asked me to grow catnip for tea. Before it was a foot high, the local cats found it, and my backyard was a drug den of high cats. The poor plants didn’t stand a chance and were squished flat. Never did that again.

Lynn Anderson: I Never Promised You a Rose Garden
I beg your pardon
I’ll just partake a bit of the rose garden
Along with the bay leaf
There has to be a bit of marjoram!
…….
If you have some lemongrass some sage won’t come amiss
And I wonder where did the oregano go?
…….
I beg your pardon
I’ll just partake a bit of the rose garden
Along with the bay leaf
There has to be a bit of marjoram!
…….
Wonder where has tarragon? Has the dill been moving on?
And some parsley and rosemary and I am ready
For some sauce for my spaghetti!
Well I’ll sneak up to the pots
And Ora Zella has got to inchworm shuffle
As she joins in the scuffle!
…….
So smile for awhile and let’s be savory
A pot of herbal tea is what I’m craving
Come along and share the garden while we can!
…….
I beg your pardon
I’ll just partake a bit of the rose garden
Along with the bay leaf
There has to be a bit of marjoram!
