This is the second or third reference to Iggy singing opera. Does he do a lot of vocalizing IRL? I’m not on FB, Insta, or X, so I think I miss out on some of the background info Georgia shares.
Does someone have the date for the other time Iggy was working on his opera? I seem to remember that The Woman was asking him to stop, perhaps it was late at night? I found the strip on January 6, 2024 where he is singing with the wind, but they don’t mention opera there.
Love the Ring. Beautiful music, even if Wagner was a bigot and a favorite of Nazis. I’ve loved some of the Met’s stage craft (the dragon!), and some European productions in modern dress—Valkyries as women police officers with plexiglass riot shields. It’s an acquired taste if you did not grow up listening to it. I LOVE ballet and realized that as the movement and music carry the drama in dance, the music, both sung and played carries the drama in opera. That made it easier. Also Baroque opera is sometimes easier to get into.

You know woman, you can’t just lie around like that, you have mouths to feed, children and cats to care for, you need to be drawing new comics.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Kat Kiosk
Puckmosis: I always admire the worker ants who can lift many times their weight. How do you do it?
Worker Ant Amenope: It’s a secret, but mainly it’s knowing when to ask for help.
Worker Ant Merope: That’s right. We can always count on our friends.
Amenope: When we had to move a rubber tree plant, we didn’t just stand around and hope for the best. We got together and moved it.
Puck: Where is it now?
Merope: We moved it into the Royal Scribe’s office.
Elvis-Anum: It was lovely, but then Adobe Style and Maat-Tilda admired it so much, the Artisans have it now.
Iggy: And now some other friends are joining us! Sophititi! And Sidewalk! Hi!
Sidewalk: It’s good to see you. Soph and I were going over the story of our descendants, Sophie and Gutter.
Soph: And we decided some Apple Dumpling sundaes wouldn’t come amiss. With star sprinkles, of course.

For Iggy’s Opera in 47 Acts: Carmen’s Toreador Song
Along the floor I line up everything
Pom poms and socks
This really rocks
I like to have my ducks all in a row
Why I do this no one will ever know!
It’s all just part of what I do
Now some treats, I would like, too!

Something I noticed only in this strip and an earlier strip in January, apparently Iggy “sings”? Can someone explain?

Wow, he’s up to 47 acts!?! At 4-5 a night, the Iggy Cycle will run rings (hehee) around the Wagner festival!

A few weeks ago I caught Rose doing this sort of yoga pose, and made it my new avatar pic. It seems to fit nicely in the round space.
I’ll call it the Sleeping Cat Curl pose. :-)

All the IGGY smiles today do my heart good. He earned all the accolades today. Well done, Iggy.
Excuse me while I enter the strip in the 5th panel and give Elvis his UPPIES. Poor neglected (snicker) best boy.
