Mr. Right, huh? Well, there’s Orville or Wilbur, she can take her pick. Orville seems to be a little long in the tooth, but Wilbur definitely seems to be a fun-lovin’ party dude, so maybe Luann should hook up with him?
Green light Luann. In our time tht is. You were 13 at th start of the comic in 1985. That was 40 years ago. So 40 plus 13 means you’re 53 in real time.
Not the old “Looking for Mr. Right,” band-saw again!
Lu, IMO, FOUND “Mr. Right” but was she was 1) too silly to realize it, or 2) he just wasn’t quite “good enough.” (And NO, I’m NOT talking about Elwood, Miquel, Pyro, Jack, Quill, or Phil)
And speaking of Phil, and again IMO, Phil would be more of a “match” for someone like Bernice, than Luann.
Now If Lu does do the dating app thing again, I truly HOPE that the fans can actually SEE the guy Luann meets this time around, unlike what happened the LAST time.
And I for one, will howl with GLEE if that blind date ends up being Les. ;-)
Nobody should use a dating app. A dating app is financially incentivized to provide ok matches but not good matches and to encourage you to always be on the lookout for something better.
Coincidentally, I read this morning that Ted Danson was happy he was in his 40’s when he met Mary Steenburgen. Basically said, he felt grown up then and ready for commitment. Married 30 years.
It’s been a very long time since Luann put love among her New Year’s resolutions, or rather, among her goals. I still hope she ends up with Jack because they have good chemistery, he really admires her and Puddles adores him. But if it’s someone else, that’s fine too. As long as it’s a great story.
Oh goody, looks like we’re in for a repeat of the Romance Novel Life™ arc: Luann decides that she needs to find someone, starts a half-hearted effort only to realize that that means actually interacting with people, and so retreats back to the safety of her bedroom in defeat. In the end nothing has changed, her and Bernice are slightly older but certainly not any wiser, and everyone has wasted 3 weeks just to watch the characters end up right back where they started.
Of course if Luann ends up with a boyfriend at the end of this arc I will retract all criticism with deepest apologies, but c’mon: does anyone here actually think she’ll end this arc with a new boyfriend?
No Phil? Heck, she was almost ready to sign over a kidney at the slightest “suggestion” from cute, employed Philly-boy. Then she got all gung-ho thanks to Phil’s advice about saving THREE lives for just a pint of blood and starting up a beautiful new holiday tradition, which she could go running to Phil with, “We did it! I started a NEW beautiful holiday tradition of blood giving and all the neighbors and the entire town came out! HUNDREDS of pints donated! Kiss me, Phil!” but nooooooo, two holidays come and gone (Xmas and New Years) and the kidney and blood donations arc dropped like a hot potato.
Now she’s too shamed to see Phil again… he might ask, “how did it go?” and what can she do? Hang her head and say, “Nothin’ happened”?
I feel a disturbance in the force, this strip really seems enjoy tweaking the 5 after midnight crowd in the nose, at least the favorite characters to hate on are present. This is not the story you’re looking for ………….. Move along…. ;-)
(The gender ratio in the United States attained a value of 97 males per 100 females in 2021. Life is hard for us menfolk. Outnumbered. Out-nagged. Underserved.
Well blood drives are still going on, and in fact a major local TV station I watch (still watch broadcast, just on Hulu or YouTube, ABC, 7 Chicago) is going to do its annual blood drive next week) so there is hope for the Fuse drive going on, and maybe Phil. Are you a minor plot device, or a future Mr. Right, which I thought G & K have been subtly teasing. Time will tell.
I hope Luann is right about meeting Mr. Right. But I also think it would be funnier if she dated (and we actually got to see those dates) a series of Mr. Wrongs. I’d love to see how she’s handled the stress of that! After a while she could finally meet her Mr. Right, but by now she would be older and perhaps wiser.

What is Bernice talking about? Everyone knows Women outnumber Men in the US.
I’m surprised they went back to these two. We’re overdue for a little Dorm Drama.
.
On a side note… Congrats to Demi Moore. Was nice to see her win her first award after 45 years of acting.

If Bernice ever went to a fortune teller, the poor lady would trade in her crystal ball for a bowling ball, and join a reformed mystics club.

I wonder how many men are off-put by “looking for Mr. Right,” because it means that the woman is certain to be disappointed with them eventually?

Luann, you’re 39 (born March 17, 1985), so 40 is only months away.
Or, if we count from your supposed age in ‘85 (13), you’re 52 now.
