I read online that a lot of classic kids books (as in written in the 19th century) are being edited (changed) to remove anything upsetting for the Generation of the Offended. Funny how they leave the modern (living) authors alone! Only tyrants ban books.
I saw today that some place or other they’re canceling one of the fairy tails. Cinderella, I think? Because it’s too adult for the target audience. I’m okay with dropping it, though not for that reason, Rather because it’s all about teaching girls that the way to be successful is to tie yourself to a rich and handsome guy. This is neither realistic nor empowering.
“Red As Blood” by Tanith Lee. The author takes the Disney princesses and makes them the baddies. Snow White is a vampire and Cinderella is a witch who drives the Prince insane.
Nowadays, some people actually get offended when a store clerk says “Happy Holidays.” Because it’s a friendly greeting, but not the exact one they wanted.
I could never have dreamed in my entire life if I lived to be 1 million years old, I would ever see the big bad wolf, the single greatest villain of all time, non-human, of course, being portrayed in a sympathetic light….a REAL “WHOA!!!!!”(keanu-reeves style) Dan aka one shocked dude!!!!!!! PS neat-o!!!!!!!
This is exactly what is happening with Snow White. Drop the dwarves as not PC, she doesn’t need to wait for a prince to rescue her, and fair becomes a character trait since she is now Latino and not super pale skinned.
I once met a woman who was selling a copy of Grimms fairy tales because the stories were wrong. They were more violent than the Disney versions she was used to.
Will Rat be deported? Or expelled? It’s considered, by some, cool to be rude. Or soft to be considerate. There are a lot of different kinds of oxes in the world. Maybe you feel differently when it’s your ox that is gored.
Don’t worry! Wolves can come in and eat you now anytime they want now, Pig. All children’s stories will be exactly the same since deviation is too woke. Everybody thinking otherwise will disappear, but they will not call it cancel now. You voted for it. Enjoy!
I think the critiques on ‘cancellation’ for bad behavior are hilarious in light of the blatant erasing of human achievement taking place in the name of anti-DEI. See ‘Pentagon.’
In the original (and more accurate) version of this strip the wof consumes Skip Righteous on the spot and with his belly full, leaves pig alone. (For the time being)

What’s going to happen when the wolf wants to eat Little Red Riding Hood’s grandma?
GeorgeInAZ 6 days ago
It’s good that this stuff can be mocked now.

I was hoping the wolf would eat Skip.

Next story: The albino and the seven statuesque-challenged men.

I wanted to see the panel where they load the wolf on a catapult and send him back 200 years.

So when will Rat be canceled? … Why hasn’t Rat been cancelled?
blunebottle 5 days ago
I wondered how long a new character in this strip was going to last.

I prefer the version of 3 Little Pigs done by Green Jellÿ. The umlaut makes the “y” into an “o”, btw.

For a much different take on the three little pigs and wolves, take a look at Suburban Fairy Tales. (It’s on the other major comic strip site.)
Number Six (1967) 5 days ago
‘Snowflakes & The Seven Dwarfs’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
cdward 5 days ago
Gee, in the old version, they just killed the wolf. Things are so much worse now.

All that huffing and puffing is so sexually explicit… :D

Or the fairy tale about “The boy who cried wolf”?
SquidGamerGal 5 days ago
Come on! What did the wolf do other than threatening to eat Pig?

Me thinks this is a shot at a certain Princess movie released this week.

Toxic femininity seems to be killing a lot of room mates, spouses, children, and students lately.

There are slot machines in the casinos these days where the wolf does blow down several houses – each one revealing a winning amount of money.
Ignatz Premium Member 5 days ago
I don’t think threatening to blow a house down is a “microaggression.”

Even nature isn’t safe from cancel culture.

Children’s stories were never safe from censors. The original Little Red Riding Hood is a bloodbath.

Unironically a huge problem of our times.

Children’s stories will never be the same? He must have seen the new “Snow White” … and not walked out.

True, since the presidential election, we’re living in a fairy tale world. At any time, soon, someone’s going to dream-up cross-state tariffs.

Perhaps Skip is the reason the Crocs haven’t been in the strip for a while???

At least Skip Righteous and his compatriots have matching ties.

So where’s the outrage over the stereotype that wolves are always bad and villainous?
Mel-T-Pass Premium Member 5 days ago
Good old Skip, dealing with an easy target. How about all the language coming from our “leaders?”

How long has Stephan Pastis been hanging out with Scott Adams?
Or is he just caught in a never-ending loop of facebook algorithms which keep shoving right wing claptrap in his face 24/7?
