What restaurant would let its servers themselves wear what they want to wear?

It’s good to see him enforcing the dress code for the servers there.

Maybe Hooters is hiring.

So no one told her about the dress code when she was hired?

Well, Tiffany, there is nothing in that dress code that says you have to button that shirt and stylish vest.

Let me guess – a customer will come in early, tip Tiff enormously, and TJ will get an idea in his head. The Fuse becomes a strip bar, Ox is the door guy, Les is the annoying sleezy DJ, and TJ makes watered down drinks and stocks the lunch buffet.

Tiff can wear more appropriate attire for her current shape and still earn great tips by flirting (tastefully).

I thought Tiffany had dropped most of that weight. She needs to rethink those outfits for more reasons other than the restaurant having a uniform.

Until I spent a month driving deliveries for Pizza Hut, I had never owned or considered acquiring slip-resistant shoes, but they insisted. I had also never had the other kind of shoes slip out from under me on a wet sidewalk. Since then it’s happened about half a dozen times.

I think knowing that such a thing exists is what causes shoes to slip.

Maybe if Cafe Kablooie needed a cocktail waitress …?

Sadly, there is some truth to what Tiff says in the last panel.

Tiffany wants to tease her male customers with the hopes her curves will get her better tips. Tiffany, in the outfits you want to wear, you’ll have problems with male customers palming your butt.

Back in the early years of this strip, the school her and Luann went to didn’t mind Tiffany wearing her cheerleader’s uniform on a daily basis. Which brings up the question: will Tiffany wear this outfit (which will get more attention) on a daily basis?

C’mon, TJ. Tiff’s no slack-er!

A lot of people prefer women to look like women with some shape and curves. I’m willing to bet a lot of those who are making snide comments about her weight have to wear their pants buckled up beneath their big pot bellies.

I thought TJ was a smart businessman.

Tif, even in Cafe Kablooey’s “uniform” you won’t have to work to get good tips from most of the men. Now the women…

My only thought was that the person who hired her was responsible for telling her what the company rules, restrictions, and dress code might be. So, although Tiff might have noticed all the staff was dressed similarly, unless she was informed, it’s not her fault. She still has to dress to code, though.

I find it sad how willing she is to sell herself.

I am a little concerned how Tiff will do as a server (at first) but I expect her to rule the position and evolve to Hostess and then manager; after all, she comes from good genes and when she finds her niche (this may be it) she will soar!

That is the look Tiffany has always tried to sell. Unfortunately, she has an overstock these days and needs to trim down the merchandise.

Why didn’t you tell her the dress code when you hired her?

Not only is she too chubby for that outfit, it is just silly looking. She usually dresses with more taste and class. She can wear long sleeves and pants and still flirt enough for tips. This outfit won’t command tips…only make her a big joke.

Oh Tiffany… welcome to the real world.

Guess she’s gonna have to rely on that charming personality! Just wait until things get busy. Tiffany is gonna have a meltdown.

First of all I mistakenly glanced at some comments and still see some people are obsessed that Tiffany seems to be drawn a little more substantial than they think is right. She looks quite fine, closer to a normal woman at her age, and is as hot as always. Not everyone can or should be skinny as a rail. But to the story of the arc. Hilarity ensues of course. I think the funniest was the “punch” line with Ox bringing the “stylish vest.” Trust me Tiffany you give good service, with a smile, and don’t mess up the orders (remains to be seen if she can keep the orders straight, smile all the time, be friendly with customers, and patient, and ignore her aching feet), then you will be a success. It takes work!!!, And adherence to the employer’s rules, but it can work, if you work it girl! If she does successfully, lasts more that a day in Luannverse time, then her character has grown a lot. Ironically the proximate cause for this would be Les’s mom. Gnk move in mysterious ways.

If it clashes with Paris’ (tiff) style, I see this job being over before it even started. At the end she still is a celebutard at best.

Like that Tiffany acknowledges that, if she dresses conservatively, she will actually have to work for tips.

Personally, I’m male, heterosexual, and even in my bachelor days, I preferred being waited on by waitresses who dressed professionally…and NO not THAT profession.

I am in agreement that Tiffany’s uniform does not really fit the “K2” style well…. and would not be particularly appropriate for that establishment. If Tiffany wishes to wear the type of uniform she is envisioning (and wearing), there are other establishments where that style would be more the norm, probably even in Pitts.

A hat tip to Schrodinger’s Dog… he kept telling me this is really all about Tiffany simply getting a job. And, it does appear that he is correct.

I still find the whole…. “Tiffany needs a job, so get Les to do a different job.” effort of the last few days rather convoluted. It seems to me that it would have been easier for Greg to simply have had the story arc be that there was another server position opening up at The Fuse, and not go through the couple of days having a discussion about Les changing jobs. It just seems odd to me. That is why I kept presuming there was some secret plan being hatched by Tiffany to somehow use the server job as a way to get back at Ann.

This is ridiculous. Greg has her looking like a clown! Tiff has never exhibited such a poor sense of style.

My Gawd; The most commented upon strip in all the GoComics lineup. Makes one’s brain begin to leak out of one’s ears!….Oh well; here’s my two cents worth: Good thing Luann’s folks opened the “Fuze” thereby giving everyone in the community employment! Capitalism at work!

Once again, Tiffany dresses for Hooters. I’m glad she’s willing to work, but when you consider all the fancy restaurants she’s dined in, she’d notice how the staff dress for work.

the $500 black pants suit, the pants a least, should get some use. however, Tiff is going to find that waitressing is not an easy job; people are on their for long periods and they need to write the orders correctly. I foresee that she might not do so well at first (maybe make no tips). It’s good to get along with people but if you don’t get their orders right then the rest is irrelevant.

If the Fuse has a lounge she would clean up on tips as a cocktail waitress.

I went back to look at yesterday’s strip, and noticed that the comment count had dropped from what it was yesterday. Sadly, my buddy, Joel, I mean, Trilogy’s comments are all gone. I know that most of his comments were a bit acerbic in nature, but I did not see anything here on the Luann board that I deemed to be ban – worthy. Maybe it was something on another strip here on GoComics, I dunno. Anyhoo, I hope he’s back out of the penalty box soon.

Somebody messed up if they didn’t explain this to Tiff before the start of her first shift.

It’s always in fashion, apparently, to belittle those of us over the age of what, 21, Teafanny? You fit right in to the current state of affairs where everyone other than a certain very much older man who is about free tuition is condemned as being just too old to be worth anything (sorry to get political, but it is everywhere). I am the oldest person at my job all of the sudden and some of the younger workers look at me like I am worth nothing because I have gray hair and use a cane and wear glasses. I still have decent ideas that they’ve never heard of, though, oh, and I DON’T drive a Buick, and won’t dye my hair blue.

That’s the point, Tiff. If you want to succeed, you have to WORK for it.

Sell whatever service you have to offer.

TJ is way too much of a prude. Tiff would improve business and is by no means “too bare.” On the contrary, she is almost completely covered, except for her arms. Kafe Kablooie is not a monastery, Loser-Boy!

The vest that Oxford is bringing in could become part of a nice outfit, though….

So I’m understanding correctly. The burlesque-ish Fuse dinner theater, which is one of the most sought after and high paying establishments in this town, AND hosts the souffle lingerie parties, AND has a almost non existant hiering process, has somehow managed to devote it’s HR policies entirely towards ….a dress code? And further a dress code to make everyone look like an asexual male apparently? At least put Ox in a Hooters uniform if your looking to level the playing field.

Be glad it’s not the chain I work at with hand dipped shakes and burgers made of steak. We run ourselves ragged and are lucky to make $2 a table. Because it’s not a ‘fancy’ restaurant nobody thinks the 15%-20% rule applies. (Well, it DOES) When a table of 17 with a $250 ticket thinks $10 is a good tip, that’s F***ed up. ==seriously, SEVENTEEN people foisted on 1 server WHO HAS OTHER TABLES TOO. The kitchen can’t do any of our other orders until yours is all done. At the same time. WTF is wrong with some of you? Go hire a caterer >:(
