I thought Bets was smoother than this. In frame 3, Gunther’s expression indicates he hears the squeaky chalk on the blackboard.

I’m not a fan, either. Bets treats Gunther like a trophy whose primary purpose is to draw attention online. One-track mind.

Finally, someone who sees Bets as less than perfect.

Poor Gunther.

Ha ha! Bernice is a loser! LOSER! Good for Bets and Gunther; may they find happiness!

nope, Bern hasn’t really had that much interest in Gunny as far as I know, but she’s also very conservative so probably thinks Bets is too loud.

Way to leave a bad impression Bets, shes turning into a famewhore

Curious. Only four individuals have shown up (so far) to the “Study Ball.” Gunther, Bernice, Bets, and Bets’ Ego. And the ones that really need it are in Kip’s room.

Two big questions:

1) Will Tiffany show up at “Study Ball” or head to Kip’s room?

2) Will Bernie leave the “Ball” early on account of being IRRITATED by Bets, go on her nightly hall patrol and overhear partying by the Hall A Umpa-Lumpas in Kip’s room?

Seems Betts is more hung up on being internet famous.

So are we just dropping Tiffany’s story? Because the Study Ball was that same night.

Bets, as the saying goes, believes her own hype.

Don’t take so personally Bernice.

Bernice is getting this one right. Betts is only sweet and nice on the surface. It won.t be long until she starts asking Gunther to “Play Misty for me.” She may be a real Psycho.

Me either, Bernice. Bets sees anyone who says they follow her on Snapgram as fans. She totally dismissed Bernice as Gunther’s friend. Every time Bets makes an appearance and says something, the less I like her. Strike two, Bets. First, you dismissed Gunther’s objections about the constant posing for the fans. Now being dismissive of Bernice as a mere fan – yes, I’m aware you value a fan over a friend but that’s not how Gunther sees.

For those who were ready for more Guns N’ Bets, here we are already.

Bets is a legend in her own phone. You might want to think about hanging up in the near future, Gunth. She is just using you to bring her stardom and fans on Snapgram. It is apparent she craves that and it is becoming clear why Bet’s previous suitors left…

Gunther is delusional on maintaining a wall between “Gun ‘N’ Bets” and Gunther’s Universe where Bernice is a “Friend”. Bernice’s status is a “snapgram” fan in the world of “Gun ‘N’ Bets” and Gunther’s Universe has no relevant to

What happened to LuAnn? You remember LuAnn, don’t you? This is a comic strip about LuAnn. Will she be a part of this arc? I’m sure Bernice has invited her to the Study Ball.

Stay cool, Gun. She’s still the hottest female in the strip who isn’t also Ann Eiffel…

I fear we’re seeing the first cracks that lead to the dissolution of Gun and Bets.

If Bets cannot tell the difference between fan and friend, it is no wonder she cannot distinguish between what should be posted publicly and what should remain private between them.

Boundary issues…

So she is going to turn out annoying and not so sweet after all.

BTW, what’s she gonna study with? Gunther appears to be carrying 1 laptop. Her hands are empty and she has a small purse over her shoulder.I am becoming less and less a Bets fan every time she is featured.

I also predict Tiff will show, looking fine. We may or may not find out whether Gunther ever addressed her part in the whole did they or didn’t they debacle.

It’s up to you to choose, Gunther. The endlessly critical, bitter scold who’s treated you like a geek and a loser since third grade, or the upbeat, happy woman who treats you like a catch?

Bets is SO not ‘the one’.

Is Bernice upset that Guther has a hottie? Or is she so much a prude that she can’t take all the affection Bets has for Gunther?

Day late and a dollar short, Bern.

Bernice should have kept the look Tiffany gave her.

As expected, Bernice already has judge Bets at first sight, without give her any possibility of redemption. I’m happy to see the couple at the “Study Ball”. Gunther and Tiffany are old study buddies, how their studies routine will be influenced by the insertion of Bets? May this become an awkward situation of jealously or a great friendship moment? And Bernice, that believe Gunther and Tiffany likes each others but they don’t have the capacity to see it and don’t like Bets, what will she do? GO, S.S. GUNTHANY!

That ain’t jealousy. Bets straight out says, ‘Friend, fan whatever.’ Bets is dismissive as hell of Bernice just now.

Interesting intro from Gunther. Back on April 8 of last year Gunther told Bets he had only one girlfriend in high school. He claimed no girlfriends while in Mooney. I can’t really recall, but it seems to me that at some time he and Luann were a short item? Oh well.

Someone proposed that Gunther and Bets would be at Study Ball. They must have had a study hall crystal ball… or a read ahead! :-\

I hope Bernice gets a chance at a decent arc at last. She’s gotten short shrift since Piro. Come to think of it, she had more infatuations than Gunther in H.S.

More verification that Bets is (or is becoming,) manipulative and possessive. She could change but first she’d need to recognize what she’s doing.

I may not have mentioned it on the blog, but I always felt that Bernie would not like Bets when she finally met her. I think Bernie feels Bets is to into herself, while Bets is dismissive, but probably not intentionally. Gunther appears to be a bit put out that Bets does not recognize Bernice as a friend, but remember Bernice brought up she saw Bets on Supergram.

…and so we begin to see the confluence of the various arcs of late. Gun and Bets are nearing a very rocky coastline, and Tiff is perhaps on the cusp of a significant transformation/evolution. It’s a love triangle. Gun could be the meat in a sandwich, but this is a family strip, so probably not. Will G&T become a couple as an outcome? The seeds for that were planted a few years ago. If that does happen, look for Tiff to rely on Gunther’s help, to get through school, and to thwart Annie Awful and get her daddy’s money flowing more, only to let the bright lights or some beefy A-lister type to sweep her away. Luann to the romantic rescue then, and the ultimate end being their wedding. It’s still years away, tho’.

Gunther very nicely introduced Bernice and Bets. Bernice responded appropriately, and made polite conversation, telling Bets she’d seen her photographs on snapgram. Bets responded to Bernice as if she (Bets) were a movie star—not in a friendly way at all. Gunther noticed and appropriately let Bets know that Bernice was a friend since 3rd grade (not a “fan”). Bets dismissed Bernice by walking to the couch and saying, “fan, friend, whatever.” If I were Bernice, I would feel a bit put out too. I don’t see Bernice being envious or jealous. I see her reacting to Bets’ rudeness.

Bets is Amazing!! She’s certainly the right match for Gunther, can speak multiple languages, knows her way around social media and can outwit Bernice any time any day. Hopefully they will be like the Kardashians soon, and they will have their own reality show. I’d watch!

April 13, 2019, Taco Town. Bets tells Gunther “…either you’re 100% with ME or you’re not. All or nothing.”

And that’s how this relationship has played out since. Gunther has Bets’ brand on his rump and Snapgram is the branding iron. This episode looks promising. Especially since Bernice has a propensity not to keep her mouth shut when she has something in mind! :o)

Is this where Gunther finds out about Tiff taking up residence with the denizens of Hall-A? And will this matter? Or will this week focus on Bernice’s opinion of his relationship?

Is Betts too happy for you, Bernice?

Greg has been very frustrating with the relationship of Gunther with Luann. Gunther has repeatedly indicated an interest in Luann; like since for EVER. Luann has repeatedly flirted with Gunther, most often covered by being in a teasing way. Since last year, Luann has been portrayed as having a semi-neurotic interest in Gunther’s dating. Especially since Bets came on the scene. (Remember the repeated early phone calls and the “doing it” sequence?)

AND While Gunther’s relationship with Bets has “progressed,” Luann just can’t seem to hit it off with any date-pic dates, nor with any of her male friends, like Jack.

Greg just can’t seem to keep these two from drifting too far apart? What’s up with this???

They’re all such awful people. It’s hard to pick sides.

To save the day, Bets may fess up to Gunther that she feels insecure with a relationship and tries too hard to nail it down. This signaled from the start – when Bets was upset about Gunther taking a phone call.

Bets seems awfully clingy today. Not an attractive quality.

Bets is a very feisty character as well as a sci-fi/fantasy nut…it’ll be interesting to see how this relationship works out.

What did Bernice say that was sweet? She stated that she has seen Bets photos. That is not a compliment.

Trouble in “Paradise”?

Bets and Stefi are flakes from opposite ends of the spectrum.Soon the Earth shall curve and they’ll meet somewhere in the middle.

Not a fan either, Bern. Bets is clingy and possessive. Gunther can do better. And no, I WON’T call him “Gun.”

I really liked Bets and once upon a time, I even said she was good for him. Not really so sure now.

Bets is a product of social media, Gun and Bets meet via a dating app.Both are star trek fans, wear costumes, excellent students and don’t have jobs. The mismatch is Bets is a internet celebrity with a trophy boyfriend, Gun and Gunther is homebody who is not comfortable with the limelight. The common acquaintance is Tiffany Farrell. They both dislike Leslie Knox.

Or y’all saying Bets is part psycho.

Hmm. A lot of ideas swirling in my mind about today:

1. To me, Bets is being quite obnoxiously rude. The “fan, friend, whatever” statement is just too over-the-top. To be honest…. even with Bets social media proclivities…. it does not seem like how I would have expected her to behave. I mean, she was quite a bit more “normal” in her response to meeting Tiffany.

2. Bernice’s rather jaundiced response of “Not a fan” to Bets statement is perfect. Bernice may still have a lot to learn as all young people do…. but she is not a dolt. I like her character a lot.

3. I also “read” into Bets’ “get the couch” comment…. that she is not really thinking/planning much in the way of study. She may be thinking of more photo-ops for “lovey-dovey couples poses” to post on Instagram. I suspect that Gunther is there specifically to study. That may result in some fairly significant conflict between the two.

4. With the presumption that Tiffany will arrive shortly as well…. will Bets’ likely “lovey-dovey couples poses” start to aggravate Tiffany? We have not had much indication on whether Tiffany is following Gun & Bets on Instagram or not yet.

5. And, how will (the likely end point) the study session get out of hand, and somehow Tiffany will slip up and Bernice will uncover the secret Blackout Party?

Not exactly a fan… not quite a fan… nowhere in the same Galaxy close to a fan… but other than that….

This arc will NOT end well.

“Snapgram”… For Pete’s sake, I know that copyright might be an issue, but this just sounds so fake.

Uh-Oh!!!!!!

Someone needs to introduce Bets to Steph – at least one of them would lose in the ensuing battle as to which was the top dog, boss-lady, bubble-head, whatever.

I think that Bets will get Gunther in a compromising position, take a picture, post it, and gleefully wait for the resulting fireworks.

Bernice is primed to be a “pill” this week.

3rd grade? Why not kindergarten? Did someone move?

I suppose it was inevitable that Greg would put Gunther into this arc but it doesn’t make sense to me. This is an R.A. created activity for her dorm. Gunther does not live in the dorm, or even on campus. So far as we know, Bets doesn’t live there either (or I think she would have connected with Tiffany there at some point), and even if she turns out to live in a dorm, does Moony only have one? I’ve just been hoping that Tiffany would meet someone new and intriguing at the study ball but that seems less likely a plot point now.

I think the pivotal focus is the difference between friends and fans. I’m guessing that Tiff will show up with Economics homework, and Bets will be so absorbed in posing with Gun to respond to Tiff’s requests for help. Gunther may surprise us by demanding some limits on Bets’ obsession.

Bets rapidly becoming ditz.

The money spent at Moony University would be wasted if Tiffany doesn’t show up and get help. Or transfer to community college to save $$$. Poor & sad option would be to dropout and move in with Leslie Knox.

Plot twist: is Bernice still wondering if they are ……!

Bets’ comment didn’t ring true. In fact, it sounded condescending and dismissive.
