I’m sorry, but he would not be so incompetent that he couldn’t roll down his drivers window. Then again, Luann went behind his back and had someone stay at his business without letting him know about it….. and he didn’t punish her at all! So, he is an IDIOT!
Sorry for being too analytical, but, I know the joke is how Frank can’t find the right button to roll down the correct window but it kind of makes Luann look lazy that she can’t walk over and hand the envelope to him from the back window.
Meanwhile, 7 hours and 43 minutes later, Frank manages to back out of the driveway. Soon, he will be able to maneuver his craft in a forward direction to the post office. He may wish to familiarize himself with the brakes before arriving at the post office and creating Pitt’s first “drive in” post office.
I have a 96 nissan pick up. No cup holders even. No power anything. Im getting a new Chevy Silverado. Interior looks like a jet cockpit to me. I need cheat sheets and tutorials
I see that kind of situation constantly at the repair shop where I work. Nowadays, even “econoboxes” have power everything, navigation computers, touchscreens for most controls, etc…no wonder people are confused!
Little pictures aren’t always the answer. The first time that my car went “bong” and displayed a picture that I interpreted as the engine exploding through the hood, I screamed to a halt at the side of the road and started investigating pronto. It turns out that I was out of screenwash…
Well, no humor in today’s strip. If there was supposed to be a message it was that he needs his license yanked because he doesn’t know how to operate a car.
Car accessory controls were much simpler in my time. Over 40 years ago. The car window opener was the only knob that spun around in a circle like a clock. (Well, besides the steering wheel … and the radio dial.) So to avoid that confusion, the car maker decided to put the window opener on the door, below the window. ( However, a drawback, the driver couldn’t open the passenger window without stretching across over the passenger!)
Controls need to be standardized in all vehicles. Switching between the different brands of vehicles that I drive, it sometimes requires a minute to refresh myself with the different switches and locations.
Computers are great, but one problem with our modern society is that we assume that computers are ALWAYS the better way to do things. Sometimes they are. But sometimes they just take something simple and make it insanely complicated.
My dome lights stopped working and I told them to replace the bulbs at my next oil change. They told me they were okay just switched off. There was no switch on them. So I asked where the switch was. It took two people at the dealer’s to find the switch to show me. I have other buttons which I have no clue about. The manual is on CD and useless, 99% of it is about the entertainment system. I have to go online to find out about other stuff.
Can’t say I’m thrilled with the technical excess offered on the dashboards of new cars, either. On the other hand, having been around long enough to have driven what are now known as “classic cars”, the only thing “classic” about them was how much time they spent in the shop for costly repairs instead of being on the road. Choose your wheels carefully, folks.
I love my Prius and I love the 50MPG even more. But, it’s the first time I ever had to keep the instruction book on the driver’s seat of the car for the first month or two.
Seriously? You’re going with the incompetent father? That, IMPO, shows a total lack of imagination, along with ripping off the really poor plot lines of idiotic TV “comedy shows” that make the father incompetent and the kids far smarter than the father.
My Gawd! 174 comments generated by this one little comic? There is no reference to any current story arc; it’s just a Sunday morning skit. I understand “Luann” is the most commented on strip on this website; but really? 174 comments!?
My wife just bought a new 2020 GMC last November – and that’s absolutely me in her car. They should give an evening class on how to work all the gizmos, many of which are great, and some of which are unwanted. It was a hoot when she figured out the parking brake was not a brake at all. She kept pressing the button, and the car kept parallel parking itself.
What I don’t like is when I put my car in “park”, all four doors unlock. Like I don’t know how to unlock my door when I’m ready to get out. My first car that did that, the service dept. was able to disconnect the fuse that controlled it.
Boy can I relate to this. Got a new car, same make as the old but 10 years & many gadgets newer. Manual has tiny pictures (which I can’t quite make out) of buttons controlling gadgets , still haven’t identified which one opens the door to the tank, and the car is low on gas…help!!
Let’s not be harsh on Frank, folks. There are various controls and things on my not-so-new car that I still don’t know by heart—and when I go to look them up, the Owner’s Manual is almost as long as a Charles Dickens novel….

That letter has to be mailed “right now?”
Why not just drop it in the home mailbox and raise the little red flag, LuLu?
Or have “they” outlawed individual home mailboxes in the town of Pitts because certain “folks” find the raised red flag “offensive” or something? ;)
