This is the first Luann comic I’ve seen in months that actually made me laugh! It’s moments like these that remind me why I follow.

Gunther better start those Rogaine treatments right away! LOL

Perhaps Bets would pay more attention if Tiff dressed up as Counselor Troy!

Also, I don’t want to see any surprised pikachu faces when this ends with a geeky joke and a kiss. Whether or not you want it to happen, it should be obvious that they’re going to be together at the end of this. The only question is whether or not it’ll be this week or next.

Looks like Bets and Gunther are in it for the long haul.

This is the closest I’ve seen to the artists actually telling us the future and the reason why I feel that way is because I remember Gunther explaining how he saw his future. He would finish his engineering degree, marry someone as booksmart as he is and have 2.5 kids (I honestly think he gave that number), move into a house with a picket fence and build a cottage home in the backyard for his mother, who would take care of the kids when he and the wife step out. (Only, in this case, it looks like possibly Bets’ parents would take care of the kids.) That was also why I was so amazed when Irma and Al Gray built that cottage in their backyard…

Is Tiffany starting to humanize and soften Bets up?

And now if Gunther doesn’t take her back, it’s gonna hurt even more….

Bets’s abandonment of Gunther smelled of something else going on. It didn’t seem likely that she would be afraid of rejection by Gunther. Today is our first clue that Bets had these visions for the future. I hope G & K can get us from A to B without too many ?.

Now you’ve just got to talk Gunther into coming back.

Yes, she had plenty of time to imagine it while she Ghosted him for a month. =-/

Why is Bets Wonder Woman instead of Lois Lane.

This is Kind of like the ending of “Rising Arizona” whee Cy has a dream of the future. I don’t see Bets’ parents anywhere in the montage, though. That’s old Gunther and Bets next to new parents G and B.

The problem with all this is it is was this easy to convince Bets to give Gunther another try, why was Bets so traumatized that she fled from Weinie World and ghosted him for a month. That reflected a severe trauma and all we’ve gotten the last weeks has been vague handwaving about people leaving her. GnK have, as they always do, sidestep any serious consequences to their character even as they continue to put them in serious situations — Bernice;s panic attacks about meeting her brother, the trespassing at the Fuse with Tara, Tiffany and Ann Eiffel. Always with the cop-out ending.

BOOOOM! All the Bets haters heads must be exploding (lol). This is kind of where I think this general storyline has been heading anyway. Tiff is quite a romantic counselor by the way. Cosplay wedding, long married life, great kids, BOOOM!!

Like I was saying Saturday, Bets is growing a little, realizing you can’t be afraid of having any relationship with someone because of your past experiences. It depends on the person you’re with now.

Panel 3 infers that Gunther and Bets have had “relations”. Unless, in reality, it was Bets telling Gunther, “Just put it in a dish and slide it under the door. I’ll get it later.”

Like the DC cosplay…though Lightning Lad & Saturn Girl would have worked as well.

What’s even more amusing is that fact that it appears that some “folks” are celebrating and ASSUMING that Bets is going to run after Gunther. And that Gunther “is going to welcome her back with open arms.”

Well, while you guys are camped out at your respective mailboxes eagerly waiting for that wedding invitation, consider. Gunther has had plenty of time to think about all that has just transpired between him and Bets. And while Bets view of the future may be rosy, Gunther’s might NOT be. Think for a moment. How many times since Bets was introduced, have We seen them really having fun together? And by “fun,” I mean where Bets DIDN’T whip that phone out and podcast what they were doing? Or not getting into an argument about Gunny’s lady friends? Not bloody many.

And while Tiffany is talking Bets into going after Gunther, someone (Maybe Les?) in the meantime might be talking Gunther into giving up on Bets once and for all. Or maybe he’s convinced himself to cut his losses.

Bets shouldn’t have any easy path back to G-Man. Not after what she’s done. She needs to Earn his trust. If Gunther has any self-respect, he WILL make her earn his trust. At least, I’d hope he would.

So don’t pop the cork on the champagne just yet. G&K could be ready to pull a fast one. ;)

I’m sorta frustrated with how Bets is suddenly handling this. I mean…. she just left Gunther for the absolute stupidest reason, and because Tiff is trying to patch things up(and shes surprisingly good at that) she is regretting her hasty decisions BUT NOO because if Gunther had any brains he would make her work to earn his trust back. I’m 50/50 on Bets and Gunther getting back together. half of me wants this happy ending, but half of me wants Gunther to have a different ending, and for Bets to actually learn her lesson and not do this again.

Today’s strip is plain strange. As much as I like happy endings, this vision we see today runs directly against what we have seen for a month, comic-time.

We’re supposed to believe Bets is thinking about the good possibilities when Tiff, whom she is mad at, suggests them, but not when Gunther is with her?We’re supposed to believe that Bets’ insecurities and fears just melt away with a pep talk from Tiff, but again, not when she is with Gunther?We’re supposed to believe that after what Bets did to Gunther, he’s going to just be happy to go along with whatever she suggests, with no concern about Bets having a relapse?

This is either Bets having a dream at home or some really sloppy writing by Evans.

Go for it, Bets! Go after him! Tell Gunther how you feel about him. You’ve gotta do it. Take a chance.

Look, I know that in story arc time this has been but a few seconds, but in real time it’s been several days; Gunther is likely now packed and at the airport singing K-K-K-K-K-K-Katmandu, I know it’s really where I’m going to… – WILL YOU GO AFTER HIM, ALREADY?

And Bets? Try another heroine character; you’ll never beat Fritzi Ritz (Gilchrist Era) at Wonder Woman…

What a nice strip. Sets things up for a long, long, long story arc between Bets and Gunther (interspersed by arcs involving less-important characters).

But I am more than ready to get outta the Pagoda of Peace. I’m hoping Gunther is heading to the DeGroots.

Now to find out what Gunther wants!

Well…. it seems apparent at this point that Bets will be working on getting back together with Gunther. But…..

1. Will Gunther agree to it? Probably…… very probably.

2. Is this a good move for Gunther….. IMO, not really at this point. I used to really enjoy Bets until the multi-week ignoring of Gunther occurred. In my opinion, I would think that the would be long-term, perhaps even permanent trust issues that Gunther would/could/should? have in regards to a relationship with Bets at this point. I do know that I would feel wary of wanting to be back together with someone who purposefully ignored me for that length of time under these circumstances.

3. Will Bets grow in ways that allow her to make better choices than the “ghosting” behavior she engaged in with Gunther? I do not really know. Of course, we can hope that she will have grown from this experience to better understand how her course of actions were highly negative….. but, she may also simply be experiencing a newfound sense of the possibilities of a relationship with Gunther without any introspection on her part of the role she played in not communicating, and basically…. fleeing.

Communication is the key to success IMO for any relationship. Bets prolonged and purposeful non-communication…. coupled with no real plan to communicate with Gunther… until basically forced into doing so by Tiffany….. still makes me feel that this is currently still NOT a good relationship for Gunther to be involved in.

Sure, as long as she can keep bossing him around.

From the way today’s strip is setting things up, I believe that Bets will be ready for a long term relationship with Gunther, but he will refuse to do so with her.

I generally enjoy the strip and pretty much take the artwork for granted, but this imagined sequence is especially good.

I think they make such a cute couple!!! Way to go Tiffany for helping them realize it! Yay!

This story is full of sharp turns. First Bets dumps Gunther at WW when he says he Loves Her. Then she ignores his calls and texts for weeks. Then when she saw Gunther at Tiff’s she was cool to him, no sign of affection at all. Now she admits she has loving, long term feelings about him? What is her true personality?

I judge people on their actions and Bets has treated Gunther poorly. He should not get back together with someone so unstable.

Very sweet strip today. When Luann is at its best it dovetails gentle humor and heart quite nicely!

You can’t go wrong when there is Batman. Though I do wonder why Wonder Woman and Superman. I think they should have either stuck with Star Trek themes Bets could have been Seven and Gun Chakotae, or done something like Hawk Girl and Green Lantern. I approve the long term dream that Bets has with Gunther.

Hopefully, a good ending … and a quick return to the other characters in the strip. Personally, getting tired of Gunter and his girl.

Gunther is a good man raised by a good mom. I think he’s a safe bet. (no pun intended)

For all of you Bets bashers – Bets is the person who has tutored Tiffany and kept her from failing classes and getting kicked out of school. For someone like Bets, who is smart and doing well in school, it had to have been hell. Let’s not forget she saved Tiffany from the dorm party bust that would have certainly gotten her expelled. So Tiffany does her little counseling act and the first thing she does is list all of Bets’ bad traits and insecurities, while depicting Gunther as such a perfect person with no bad habits at all. If Tiffany were any kind of honest person she would apologize to Bets, thank her for her help, give her the $300 and then go tell her teacher that her “A” paper was based on a big fat pile of lies. She might also think about going to see Gunther and telling him to quit being such a wimpy baby who runs at the first sign of conflict or having to actually acknowledge someone else’s feelings. He did a bad enough job of it after the dinner when he responded to Bets’ anger about getting ripped off by being all weird and mushy, and then expecting her to be able to switch gears and respond the way he wanted her to. You don’t do that when someone is mad and expect them to reciprocate in kind. It was clumsy and stupid. He owes Bets an apology.

I do wish Charles Schultz was alive to see this. Way back in the day when he first introduced Franklin in Peanuts, he got quite a bit of hate mail. I do remember one saying how it was okay to have a black kid in the strip, but did he have to show Peppermint Patty and Franklin in the same school. Fast forward to today and you have an interracial couple having kids and no one bats an eye.

I very very rarely comment, but I feel that it must be said. Tiff may not be the sharpest tool in the shed wrt general common sense but she has repeatedly shown a reasonably high emotional intelligence wrt this and other circumstances.

Aww, how sweet. Though I’m trying really hard not to laugh at the fact that she pictures herself and Gunther getting married as Superman and Wonder Woman while Batman officiates the ceremony. Lol

I love the way Greg made Gunther’s Superman cape weave through time , turning into a blanket to cover the elderly Gunther and Bets. Nice touch!

Remember when we were teased into thinking Quill and Lu were gonna live happily ever after! We even got the pictures of that! We saw the house , the kids, their occupations! Then blammo all gone, Due to I think, lack of imagination.Will Greg be able to follow thru on this Possibly happy couple??

I wonder if Gunther had these same ideas and If anyone is talking with him about Bets. If this continues, she’ll be ready to propose to Gunther by Saturday, and possibly another major letdown. Gosh, they haven’t even been able to talk to each other. The cart is way before the horse! ;-o

Bets finally realizes she wants a relationship and rushes to Gunther’s home to find an empty house. She rushes to the airport and sees his plane taking off, but what is this, he was bumped from his flight! They smooch and go on to make many many babies together.

We see the picture with the elderly Gunther & Bets, two adult woman (one in a graduation outfit), and two kids, clearly grandchildren. Are the women two single-mother daughters? Daughter and wife?

So Bets had actually been ahead of Gunther in terms of how she saw (dreamed about) the relationship. G used the L word but i don’t imagine he went any farther than that in his mind.

Bets is still pretty young, but Maternal Instincts are pushing her toward a Long-Term Relationship, and indeed with Gunther, the Supergroom, doting father of four, and loving grandpa, all with Bets at his side. It’s a nice fantasy, Bets, but fantasies often crash and burn in the real world….

Maybe that’s 2 daughters and 2 grandkids? No room in the panel for spouse(s)? This is a pretty hard sell, G&K: Bets went from incommunicado to grandma. I hope Gun has the sense to be wary at the least. Better yet, run away. Bets would have still been MIA had it not been for Tiffany. That’s saying something, and it’s not good.

Looks like tiffany is getting into Bets’ heart and changing her mind about Love. Hey bets if you truly love gun and want to be with him now, then go after him. She wants to say

This is just about the sweetest strip in LUANN in decades.

This imagery is brilliant. In one panel, you present the whole sweep of Bets’ fantasy of the future from the silly cosplay of today to all the important stuff of a lifetime.
