I think Parto_the_P’s Fuse/Puddles ending, would have been better, though. This was a little anti-climactic.

At long last our national trauma is about to come to an end, And in a program note: The role of callus, money-grubbing Tiffany Ferral (High School version) wil be play be Bets.

Happy 37th anniversary, Luann! It was March 17’th, 1985, when we first heard from you in your room, a middle schooler at Pitt’s. Time moves slowly in Luannverse. https://www.gocomics.com/luann/1985/03/17Admittedly, I didn’t follow Luann until 2019, and used the pandemic to read the entire three plus decades of strips. It was a fun way to acquaint myself with this strip, as you could see the progression of the strip and the characters in more or less real time. Watching the representation of the characters change over time has been interesting, not just the artwork, but also the development of the people. Most often the development has been to make many of the main players more real, more decent. This includes Tiffany (mean to feeling), Gunther (dork to responsibly cool), Brad (shlub to hero), etc. Kudos to the Evans team.Oh, and happy St. Patty’s!

When did Dez meet him? And they’ve been looking for the owner??? yay for a shred of integrity!

It took me about 6 months to read through all the strips. Doing the math, that’s about 75 strips per day. Yes, I could have read more if not for having to actually also work for a living! :)

Or split the reward three ways, ladies.

Just tell Stef the pooch was returned to his rightful owner and just don’t mention a “reward.”

And warm up your ego, Tiff.

Your mortal enemy is about to owe a solid.

Possibly the friends will drop out of paying when they realize how much Luann missed her dog!

And, true to form, check Puddles’s contented smile in the last frame!

Bets is going to be disappointed when she finds out the reward is only $20.00. Split 4 ways, that’s $5. 00 each. :P :P

Puddles you are getting closer to being back home. Tiff just describe the dog do not say anything about the reward. That be for Luann to say.

I reckon Luann will never have imagined how thrilled she could be to get a call from Tiffany Farrell of all people.

(Meanwhile, my prediction that the arc would turn out to be a promotion for pet chipping appears to have fizzled. Oh, well.)

I guess that Bets doesn’t know Luann very well if at all.

Hip hip hurray!!

Tiff comes through; she’s a stand up gal. Who would’ve guessed Tiffany would turn into the responsible one in the Quad! Dez sounds like her allergies have affected her brain throughout this mess. And the mercenary Bets shows her spots again. Remember Bets sought a cut from selling Tiff’s designer clothes on the net to raise money – Gunther wanted to do it gratis.

And how is Stef going to react to this turn of events!

Are friends going to try to collect money for a friend after finding her dog by accident? Something doesn’t sound friend-like about that to me. Is it just me?

I guess it comes down to “Friends I know” and “Friends I love”. Some are just people you know and talk to sometimes and little else. Others can be almost family.

Stef basically dognapped Puddles…they should pay rent for keeping him…

Bets is a classless shallow money hungry excuse for a human being. How low can you get? Steph got him off the street. Another winner character – but I’ll give her that. Tif cleaned up after him and lost sleep – but Bets just puts her hand out and is as undeserving as it gets.

Nice dawg we got here, Mizz Degroot . . . It’d be a shame if sumpthin’ wuz ta happen to it . . . .

Tiff will not mention the reward.

I will not rest until Puddles is home, safe in Luann’s irresponsible arms. And, I swear that Bets must have a bra with a pocket in it that goes cha-ching whenever she deposits unexpected funds in it. I also wonder if Gunther has ever found any of it.

Puddles has been a lot more smiley since he got lost.

I DISLIKE Bets right now. All she cares about now is the MONEY. Hope Tiff does the right thing and simply return Puddles to his human parent, So, Gunther doesn’t get to play the hero. Maybe Tiff will be the heroine by not demanding the reward money. Shut your trap, Bets.

And may the luck of the Irish be with you! I plan to wear my clover embroidered shorts tomorrow. So fun to do once a year!

No “Zen Mother Dez”…Steff did pick Puddles up, but didn’t clean up after it and left the roomies to do it…Tiff probably wouldn’t think of taking money to return Puddles to Luann.

I’d expect Gunther to be temporally upset with Bets.

I can’t believe Bets even looked that up. Thinking about the money is more believable unfortunately.

Luann’s add for a lost pup was a bit unexpected, I really didn’t think of that angle. As for the reward, it may be just a nice meal at The Fuse. And if the reward turns out to be money, it should be Stef. who found Puddles in the first place, who decides if she wants to split it. As as for miss “I’M entitled to YOUR money because ….. (add your own reason)”, a nice backhand across that smarmy overbite should shut her up … for a few minutes anyway.

Hey Bets…. As we used to say back in the 80’s…. “Go bag your face!”

In honor of “going green” on St. Patrick’s Day, I am going to surprise everyone with green burritos. I will use green spinach infused tortillas, instead of dried pinto beans, I will use split peas, and green mold Gorgonzola cheese, all topped with a green tomatillo sauce.

“Whoever returns the dog obviously stole it so they don’t get a reward.”

I hope the reward is only 20 dollars

Puddles looks so happy to return to his home ♡. Luann will explode for the joy knowing he’s safe and with two friends of her. Bets’ addiction to social media is finally useful for the others!

Tiffany has absolutely proven herself superior to her roomies.

Of course, Dez has an excuse (allergies are murder!), but Bets’ greed is inexcusable!!

Maybe this will cause Gunther to break up with her.

BTW, I’d hate to be in Tiff’s shoes when Stef finds out that Puddles has been returned to his original owner!!

I’ve never seen a strip so bent on depicting so many selfish and/or obnoxious characters. Dez really is the one saving grace.

When did Dez meet Puddles? Or did she “feel his aura”?

Theyre denanding a reward? (I dont own a pet so I dont know the process, but that sounds shallow.)

I am very disappointed in Bets. Wanting money for Puddles return when she knows Luann at least indirectly.

As much as I’d like to criticize Bets for expecting a reward, Luann isn’t friends with any of them (maybe Dez?). However, I WILL criticize her for splitting it 4 ways when they could just leave Stef out entirely.

Wow, Bets actually wants to accept the reward money knowing it’s Gunther’s good friend’s dog.

Just when I thought Bets couldn’t be any more self-centered… Even more so that Tiffany USED to be…

It’s nice to see that Tiffany is calling Luann about Puddles. Despite their quarrels in the past, they’ve grown as people and now they are semi-good friends.

Greg is doing an excellent job making Bets out to be the B!tch she is.

I was hoping Luann would get the lead out, stop moping at home, and seek out her friends in the dorm for consolation, if nothing else. There she would find her long, lost Puddles. But, this show’s that Luann was doing the search the modern way, with social media and her smartphone.

Finally

Tomorrow they’ll show Luann not answering because it’s Tiffany calling.

Two thoughts RE today’s strip: 1- It always irritating when people want money because they found a lost dog/wallet. 2- THE ARC IS ENDING! GEE HAW!

Finally someone remembered their friend and that their friend has a dog!! Geez.

I am disappointed that Greg continues to make Bets’ character rather frustratingly money-hungry. When she realized the dog was of a friend of her’s (admittedly more of an acquaintance)…. and she is still “all about the money”….. it continues to make her character seem rather unlikable.

You aren’t owed a reward, Bets, because you guys originally intended to keep Puddles.

Well, it wasn’t someone, but something that entered…the online post. Poor Dez finally remembers. Bets doesn’t disappoint, she’s in it the the money. Glad Tiffany is doing the right thing and calling Luann. What could possibly go wrong? And what will Steff’s reaction be? =:-o

The money should go to the person who RETURNS the dog. Stef found him but kept him.

I had several scenarios in mind (Gunther, the vet, the pound) but this surprised me although it shouldn’t have with Bets on her phone all the time. Bet’s greed disappoints me. People wouldn’t take rewards from friends. It will probably take till the end of the week to work this out. Dez is right that any reward money should go to Steph.

At last,they figured it out….!

And another strike against Bets in my mind. If I rescued a lost pet, I’d never take the reward. That’s just cold and tacky.

What kind of person would take money for returning a dog to someone they knew? Tiffany and Dez do not need the money.

My beloved Tiffany is a go getter, or a come-get-’im-er.

So Bets still wants to collect the reward, even though “their dorm doggie” belongs to an acquaintance and she wasn’t even the one who found him? Says a lot about her character.

Anybody else notice how Puddles smiled when he heard Luann’s name?

1.)Gunther is nowhere NEAR here.Everybody knock it off!!

2.)Tiffany can get her “reward” by having Luann’s Mom give her a raise.

3.)Not only does Puddles seem like the most intelligent species in the room;he appears to understand and react to everything that’s being said.

4.)Steffi would only spend her share of the reward on hush puppies and eyebrow pencils.

5.)When she meets Steffi for the first time,Luann willstand frozen in place with a “what the h..l” expressionon her face.

The reward amount is what it is; how the recipients choose to distribute it amongst themselves is up to them, not the giver. Or is Bets really saying that the reward amount should be quadrupled just because it took four of them to do one person’s job?

I never thought I would see the day when Tiffany is the character that acted like she had the most sense in a panel of Luann!

If Dez wants a pet,maybe some goldfish or a plastic lawn flamingo?!?

I have a feeling that Tiffany will say nothing about the reward. She just wants to unload Puds to his rightful owner.

Dez is going “Ah Phoo”; when Stuffy Steffi finds out, will she go “Ah Phooey”?

I always defend Bets, but not here. Her overly mercenary instinct is showing. As Dez correctly asks through her allergy “wooden that be Stef’s muddy” the reward money goes only to her since shefound the dog. being partof the team that took care of Puddles does not suddenly make them eligible for receiving the reward money. That should be interesting, but GnK might have a saving set of panels. Maybe Guntherwii come and say the equivilent of Jeez Bets back off on the reward.

I like Bets less every time I see her.

First Bets tries to make this all about her, (“Look how much he adores me!”). Today it follows up with her making sure she gets her hooks into reward money. Yup, Pop-Gun has got himself a real winner there. It’s almost as if they are trying to make her unlikeable.

Puddles looks so happy! And I am too!

Bets definitely has her humanitarian sensibilities in order

Tiffany knew that Puddles is Luann’s dog.

Bets is so relentlessly mercenary! I dew hope Dez gets well soon, but thank goodness for Tiffany, who moves to call Luann about poor Puddles. (The dog deserves a better owner than Luann!)

So I had forgotten LuAnn’s last name is Degroot. You think she’ll keep that name after getting married? I think I’d lose that name in a minute…
