I doubt there’s going to be any “reward,” other than the satisfaction of seeing a pet reunited with his owner. Which is a good thing.

The bad thing is Luann may never know that is was really Stef, someone she hasn’t met yet, that actually found her dog.

Personal Growth: Gradually, Tiffany is learning what the “reward” is.

What was Tiffany expecting to happen? Of course Puddles wants to see Luann and vice versa. There’s still time a moment later for the profuse thanks.

I’m really liking Tiff now. She’s not the crass, self-centered diva she used to be. Ann Eiffel may have screwed up her life, but it was the kick in the butt she needed to get her crap together. She seems to enjoy actually working for a living now and is concentrating on her studies. Our little girl is finally growing up.

Luann, you have your dog again, that’s good, love him and take good care of him, please!

Sometimes, doing the right thing (or a good thing) is its own reward. Lots of people who donate or volunteer at charities have learned that over the years…

Well, Puddles sure is happy to see his mom. He’s abandoned Tiff already. And it is such a personal growth that Tiff realizes the reward is getting Puddles home to his mom which suffices. Betcha Bets gives her hell for it. She is probably pondering on what she will do with her share back at the dorm.

And now we will learn Tiff’s TRUE self. Will she or won’t she? I will grant her the benefit of the doubt. Her character today isn’t nearly as shallow as her high school self was.

Loyalty is not Pud’s strong point. But he knows who his mistress is and when he’s driving to her.

Frankly, I think the best reward would be Steffo having a big old cry over losing the potato.

Doing the right thing is the reward, seeing the joy with Pud and Luann; Tiffany is a better person personally feeling the reward, the other three (or 4 if you include Steffi who actually found Pud, not D z who raised that point) might disappointed though but no bother). Is very telling though.

So glad that Puddles is home today. Tomorrow’s strip should feature either Stef’s hissy fit or Bets’s greed rant … or maybe a combo of both.

Tiffany realized in the final panel that simply doing a good deed is reward enough but it will be interesting to see/hear Bets reaction if Luann does not give Tiff any coin for the rescue? We probably will not see it though as tomorrow Luann will thank Tiff and then we will be off to the next arc; its about time for Bwad, TJ, Toni D and Shannon or perhaps we go to the Gulag to check on Gunnie, Les, Punk, Irma and Al “Winston Wolf” Gray.

Nice resolution to this arc but man it went for way too long…….

The reward for Tiffany is that she did something kind and considerate. Luann, or the other DeGroots will have to do SOMETHING for Tiffany.

Awwwww…. the long awaited reunion… so touching ♡.It’s not an everyday thing to see Luann so happy ♡♡♡. Tiffany really turned out to be a good person and, I hope, a true friend. I really hope this is the beginning of a deeper friendship between Luann and her. Puddles would be happy to see her from time to time.

I think this foreshadows friendship at last between Luann and Tiffany. As for reward, there should be none — not only because you shouldn’t ask or expect a reward for returning a lost pet to an acquaintance, much less a friend… but also because Stef didn’t just find Puddles, she stole him! She just wanted him for their dorm dog, had made no inquiry or effort or interest in finding the owner.

EW! Character development?! Get that #$%& outta here! Have Bernice show up to say something like, “I can’t believe Tiff did something right for once,” or just to say “Luann’s a moron”.

One of the more intriguing aspects of this strip is the evolution of Tiffany as a character.

It was an unsuccessful attempt to “rescue” Tiff from her depression-induced weight gain.

I had speculated last week that Puds would reunite Luann and Tiffany. At that time I wondered if Tiffany is set to be the new Delta James, the third of the BFF trio with Lu and Bern before Delta left for Howard Uni.

Maybe this, like Rick Blane and Louie Renault, this could be “the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

Apparently, to Tiffany, Virtue IS it’s own reward. Wonder if this is the end or will we have backlash from Bets and Steffi?

As far as Stef I don’t judge her

I knew a girl in college who danced to get her degree. She decided early on to own it, and did not care if friends saw her. I think we went twice, out ot natural curiousity. Then it was no big deal. She graduated in the top 10% and is an OR nurse nearly 40 years now.. She even mentioned it in job interviews. Interestingly was hired by a woman.

Finally! Can’t say I’ve enjoyed this lost pet story, but right now I agree with the commenters who speculate that Tiffany instead of Bets would be a better match for Gunther.

Huh, after everything what happened between them, I didn’t see THAT coming…

Comment 2. I think deciding to live the dorm is good for Tiffany, she is not lonely, and interacting with her roommates, as diverse as they are, in so many ways is helping her become a more complete better person. Of course misdirection play are pretty predictable, so we’ll see

I do hope Luann invites Tiff in, and wants to know all the particulars about how and where Tiff found Puddles. I think Luann is just assuming Tiff found Puddles because Tiff is the one who called. I don’t think Tiff will bring up the reward, but I hope Luann, with maybe Nancy weighing in, insist she take it. Providing it’s monetary, I hope Tiff does take it, if for no other reason than to go back to the dorm, hand the money to Stef and Bets, and say: “Here! You two fight over it!”

Also hoping like mad that this is the start of a good friendship between Luann and Tiff. Both of them could use a really good friend. Of course Bernice will be jealous, because she won’t want anyone taking her favorite punching bag (Luann) away from her, but Luann needs someone to counterbalance all the toxic, negative crap Bernice dumps on her constantly.

In fact, if Tiff and Lu become friends, I hope Lu just gets away from Bernice permanently.

At the end of everything…it’s oh!

Luann could say to Tiffany the reward money is yours let go get it. Then Tiff could say I’m just happy Puddles is back home with you and the reward was not my idea.

Tiffany did the right thing to return Luann’s dog, but they will NOT become best friends. They still have their same personalities and they don’t much like each other’s personality.

AND — no one conferred with Steffi about returning the dog to Luann. I dislike Steffi’s character so much that it made me happy to see the lack of communication! I love it that seeing both Puddles and Luann so obviously happy became the “reward” for Tiff. That young person is actually becoming a WOMAN.

Since Jack posted the message and information on Wherez Fido he may have put the statement about a reward without Luann’s knowing. Besides, Luann isn’t thinking about anything like that at the moment and Tiff realizes it. I hope the crew back at the dorm is made to realize that nothing material is coming their way.

I just had another thought. Puddles was introduced about nine months after the strip started in 1985. He was already grown then and Luann was in junior high school.

We can presume that at least eight years — perhaps nine — have passed in the Luannverse (two or three in junior high, four in high school, and two in college*) which means Puddles is upwards of 56 in “dog years”.

How much longer will he be with us?

- We know this because Bernice lost her RA gig at the end of her freshman year at Moony U.
