I have never knowingly watched something from Netflix. Or, for that matter, any other streaming movie. My friends who do watch such stuff think I’m strange. I reciprocate…

Growing up we had three channels, no remote, had to turn an antenna to get them in clearly… and because of the Fairness Doctrine, there was no Fox “news”. Good times …

Netflix should have a “watched” indicator. How many times I’ve started watching a movie and only realize after 25 minutes that I’ve already seen it… :-|

Oh no, I have too many options! I should be carefully spoon fed content instead.

Average length until you realize that the netflix movie is worse than the one you saw before (and that one was already pretty bad): 5 minutes.

First world problem. The struggle is real. How about “hours wasted watching loser shows because we just wanted to watch ‘something’”

Netflix algorithm is dreadful, their menu is awful because it doesn’t offer the full choice but the choice it believes will fit you. They have a lot of good content but if you just follow the trends and suggestions you often end up watching bad things, cheaply designed to attract audiences with poor taste. But if you check elsewhere for suggestions then you just need to input the titles in the search box and you get to see good things if they are available. Still, an hour wasted searching on netflix is better than a minute wasted watching any tv reality show or those singing or dancing contests that are a good reason to hope for global warming to get worse.

what they need is a ‘channel surfing’ feature. you just go up and down and each channel starts somewhere in the middle of act 1 or act 2 of a film and you go “oh, this one. ok, this will work”.

nobody actively puts on, say, a Harry Potter film anymore (unless showing it to the kids that hadn’t seen it yet). but if you flip channels, and Prisoner of Askaban comes up right at the Buckbeak introduction, then you’ll just leave it there.

Yep! Reminds me of work. The guys would leave the bldg together and walk down Main st, passing lots of good restaurants without agreeing where to stop for lunch. We’d end up at the end, … McD’s.

My wife is the movie watcher. I think she has Netflix and D+, not certain.

Good thing I don’t have a streaming service.

I live alone, subscribe to three streaming services, and still can’t find anything to watch.

Haven’t had Netflix for like 5 years now

I canceled Netflix. I wasn’t using it and they kept raising prices and there’s no shortage of things to watch.

I would subscribe to a streaming service that had all the old movies. Chaplin, Cagney, Bogart, Laurel and Hardy. But I don’t think it exists. TCM has streaming, but ONLY if you also get their cable TV, which is really stupid.

Maybe next time, draw names from a hat.

This is why I usually end up turning to the classical music channel and reading a book.

My uncle has commented several time that any streaming service is like going to Blockbuster too late on a Friday; a few A-List titles left that everyone’s seen, with only a lot of B and C-list muck left.

1st World problems…

Amazon Prime is like that too. I’ve actually scrolled through menus for 3 hours looking for something good to watch but finding nothing. If you don’t want to watch what THEY want you to watch, you might as well leave.

No Netflix….how many streaming companies are there? How can people afford all these and cable? Sickening

Sorry, Netflix … I’d rather read an e-book on my tablet than stream a movie.

Considering the movies on Netflix not unusual. And completely understandable.

i might watch Netflix once in 6 weeks or so. i must say i prefer the French, Scandanavian, & German offerings to American ones, especially the crime & sci-fi series.

That’s why I don’t watch with other people, unless we’ve already agreed on the movie ahead of time.

Ahhhh yes, such Freedom in so many choices, no?

and just getting to the Netflix list takes at least 47min. Too many choices is one of the major problems of contemporary life.

They forgot to include the times you pause the movie to go do a chore or get food.

How long does it take to go back and watch something in your Watch List

At least the streaming service usually HAS the movie you want to see, unless there’s some issue with the rights or they want to renew things. Video rentals has the chance the movie you wanted to see was already rented out. Thankfully, I’ve got my DVDs.

Not just Netflix. If you don’t know what it is you wan to watch, it takes longer to find a movie than it does to watch it.

Technology doesn’t always make things better.

Can’t speak to The Netflix Experience, but I will acknowledge the loss of lotsa time trying to find a decent free movie to watch on YouTube that I haven’t already seen before (sometimes I have to watch a few minutes before I realize that I have already seen this one)….

I have never owned a television machine.

DH has spent our entire TV watching time just looking for something to watch. My eyes can’t stand the scrolling, so I can’t participate.I like Pluto or Roku better, wouldn’t miss Netflix.

Now, if we don’t find something quickly, we just watch Stargate.

We have achieved “Screw it”.
