Elvis is a heater hog! I can’t blame him. It got chilly enough here today that I finally turned my furnace on. I sure hope that’s one of those heaters that automatically turns off when it is tipped over!

I love that Beatrix is tucked in the crook of the man’s arm. Does she remember he was the one who brought her in from the void?

Cats dangerously close to a space heater or fireplace? Please, let’s try to keep this story within the realm of possibilities.

Everyone knows cats would only do such a thing on a day ending in “Y”

Lupin is right behind something mildly dangerous and Elvis is right below it. this cannot end well. I’d also like to thank this fandom once again for being super chill, not minding my long posts, ocasinally sketchy grammar or somehow getting Elvis and Lupin mixed up in my brain because it’s a void from which no light can escape.

“Tip it over this way.” LOL!!! She doesn’t understand… I’ve had the furnace on periodically this week. It’s been in the 40’s when I’ve gotten up. That’s too cold for us. Loaner Cat’s been spending her time in my lap on the fuzzy blanket and Murphy’s been under a blanket on the couch because of his alopecia. The Blue Dobes are notorious for that. At this rate, we’ll be ‘firing up’ the fireplace soon. Now that hubs has had his knee replaced, he can split wood again so we’re on the hunt. :) We don’t have enough stacked to carry us through more than about half the winter right now.

It must be cold if Safety Inspector Elvis is in front of the heater. He’s usually the first to point out all of th danger!

I used to have to sleep right next to the space heater in order to be comfortably. I lived in constant fear of accidentally burning myself in my sleep. I love Beatrix poking out from behind the Man’s arm, she is the coziest of all (or perhaps she’s spying so she can do some sleuthing while the other cats sleep).

    I Made this up Myself

    Gather around the space heater

On a cold and windy night

    Under a fleecy blanket

With hot chocolate, what a delight

Gather much too close for safety

    Keeping dangerously warm

Let’s sit and tell scary stories

    No need for alarm!

The space heater for my bedroom sits securely on an elevated wooden table. Fortunately, my cat prefers to burrow under the covers for warmth, at which point I call her a “blanket lump”.

I love that space heater! It gave a very atmospheric vibe to that series of spooky “campfire” stories from a few years back! I loved all of them, but I have a particular fondness for the were-floof tale!

My space heaters are the Danes. Cats pile on top of them or me. I like sleeping with the icicles on the inside of the windows but the poor fuzzy butts like it much warmer. Each dog has their own thick fuzzy blanket, as do I because they are cover stealers. The cats then pick which cover they want to sleep under mine or one of the boys.

No! I have a horror of space heaters. Especially tipped ones!

A friend’s apartment building was burned down by a space heater, and then, incredibly, I almost burned my place down with one. Mine was actually turned off (hadn’t been used in days) when it got tipped and switched itself on.

ot we got a new heater but whenever I turn it on my sister pulls out the cord and it makes me really mad because I keep telling her that it the cord breaks then you could get an electrical shock. Pull it out by the plug not the cord.

Fortunately, modern heaters have tip turn-off switches for this situation.

When I first brought out my quart rod heater (which I don’t think you can get anymore), my cat was ecstatically happy with my godlike powers to make heat instantly. It took some insistent training to prevent tail singes

I remember the space heaters from the late 1940s and 1950s. Those things were scary. I once cooked a hot dog with one. Took about fifteen minutes.

Kittens are a delight. They have very soft fur as well. It’s fun to kitten-sit.
