I hope the guys are singing the song of their people either in unison or in harmony. Who’s likeliest to Wooow off-key? Maybe Siamese cats use non-Western tonalities.
:: wanders off, trying to whistle I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends … ::
If I needed a repair in my apartment, I would put the cat’s,’ Up’ for their own good! My two cats would hide if they did know who was coming in, but my brother’s cat, would be all over them! He’s a lot like Lupin, saying, ’Who are you? Need help fixing that? If I push this button, what will happen? Hey, your lap looks comfortable, mind if I try it?
And this is one reason why the last time we needed major work done we managed to schedule it for when we were out of town with the dog and the cats were boarded. Saved major headaches all around especially since it entailed turning water off for long periods.
Puck needs to remember that he’s got the phone number for “Cat Abuse” already stored on his cellphone from the time the People jokingly acted as if they’d forgotten to buy kibble.
Mine go from singing their song of woe to the trap nap. Upon release, they give me their feline sighs and slight head shakes. I always put food, water and a litter box in with them. Be it an hour or all day.
Cat time does not pass in measured intervals and often isn’t linear. For instance, when your cat is standing on your chest at two a.m. and kneading you, for the cat, it is over in an instant. Whereas a person has to endure this for what feels like fifteen minutes. Likewise, when you have to shut the cat up in a room for an hour because of a visit, the cat may age an entire day. And don’t get your cat started on what we think is dinner time. A mere mortal might look at the clock and exclaim that dinner isn’t for another hour. However, your cat, by meowing loudly, is asking you why dinner keeps getting later every night.
Our perceptions of time are flawed; ask any cat. Cat time is a deep and complex subject that our feline overlords have tried to teach us. But, unfortunately, we are only human.
Hi Orbsters. I’m back from my trip to New Orleans. Had a fabulous time. Spent a week in shorts or jeans and a tank top. Sunny and high 70s, low 80s. Came home to 35 degrees and a heavy, wet snowfall. I was able to read BCN each day, but I couldn’t like or comment because I couldn’t sign in – forgot my password. So when I got home yesterday I went back and liked each strip.
The food in New Orleans is amazing! I probably gained 10 pounds.
Mine get shut up in the bedroom which has access to the laundry room where the food and box are. They are normally calm about it unless of course the dreaded cat carrier appears.
Our 17 year old, who passed recently, spent most of the last two years of his life howling. He had dementia, wasn’t in pain. Often when he howled he wanted to sit on the bed with me while I read. He had given up other forms of communication.
I have one that yowls like that. Except he can use a variety of vowel sounds. Waaaaaah! Waaaaay! Whooooo! Whoooooaaah! Voted by the vet’s staff as most vocal kitty patient and most unusual “meows.”
When I have to lock one my cats in a room for just a few minutes they act like I’m torturing them. You should hear the yowling that ensues. Such drama queens.
OT – I know this is a bit late, but is everyone okay after the storm? It hit here in Louisville Friday as a wind storm, some are still without power. We got ours back after about 11-12 hours; Dad’s didn’t lose power at all until the next day (pretty sure they shut the grid down to fix the problems nearby). But some people it was several days, and some it’s not on yet. I’m grateful for having power, and will be happier when the elevators in my building have power again.
If I were to shut all of my cats up in one place there would be bloodshed. The oldest one gets along with precisely no one, and the youngest cats would be getting on everyone’s nerves. Even canned food won’t buy a cease fire beyond a certain point.
Well, here’s another avatar change. This kitty showed up in the yard the other day, and came by again today to sample the bill of fare. I’ve tentatively named the kitty Domino. I thinks this is a she-kitty, but might be mistaken. Hope we have a new long-term friend.

… She went away and left them long time ago
Now they’re upset and wow-in’ at the door
… We hear them wow-in’
But they can’t come out
We hear them wow-in’
‘Cause they’ve been “caught in a trout”
… She rudely closed the door and said goodbye
“Out in a bit” is her big ol’ lie
… We hear wow-wow-in’
But they can’t come out
We hear wow-wow-in’
What’s it all about?

Buffalo Springfield: For What It’s Worth
We’re caught in this room right here
Why that is ain’t exactly clear
The Woman came in just to say
It’s just for a short time it won’t be all day!
…….
I think it’s time to stop and make a sound
“Wow” words of protest are going around!
…….
We each have our favorite kibble dish
We can have all the water that we wish
The litter box is there on the right
But we refuse to just sit here without a fight!
…….
I think it’s time to stop and make a sound
“Wow” words of protest are going around!
…….
We deal with all sorts of news!
And we right now feel like howling the blues!
Women, you know it’s true
When we leave this room it won’t go well for your shoes!
…….
I think it’s time to stop and make a sound
“Wow” words of protest are going around!

Here are my odds:

Any of the robber mice: Off the Board since they have inside information.
