Of course, the sinister light fixture waited until Puck was in the middle of the floor, as far away from shelter or help as possible, before it revealed itself!
Apparently, the fixture is, um, fixated only on Puck, so the others can casually wander around the room, looking up at it, while Puck must remain absolutely still, lest it pounce.
This is a mystery! Thank goodness it’s only Thursday, Georgia couldn’t possibly drag out this mystery until next week. Luckily, two of the most curious cats in existence (Goldie and Ora Zella) are on hand to investigate.
So… does Ora Zella’s comment imply that the weird light fixture is SUPER not-to-be-missed weird, or is it just run-of-the-mill “eh” weird? Goldie and Elvis seem more interested than freaked out.
Didn’t Georgia once write that IRL, Puck lost his leg as a tiny feral kitten…and that she had reason to believe he had been savaged by a large predator bird? And that she had observed that he was fearful of objects looming overhead?Has this chandelier woken a deep-seated post-traumatic reaction in our usually calm-and-cool adventurer? Would a pussychoanalyst be able to link this early trauma to Puck’s need to climb…is he driven to overcompensate as the best (though non-competitive) climber because of a valiant need to face and overcome this fear? Any thoughts on this, Orbsters?
If the light fixture is a chandelier, I can’t help but wonder if there is a popular musical being referenced. Consider the Sunday March 19the comic, and this one from 2021:https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2021/08/27
Atop the giant angelim vermelho tree, a hanging, dark form, the largest snake our panther had ever seen.
An anaconda of enormous proportion, large enough to perhaps; to even overtake this lithe panther. The silent monster is staring down at him, tongue flickering from side-to-side and up and down, sensing their presence. Cold yellow eyes, with sickle-like slits, staring at them.
The younger kits do not see or understand the danger they are in. They want to play or hunt the enormous creature. Only the mighty panther understands the full measure of danger. His tail is the only give-away to the tension that he feels.
OT… Discovered the other day that my cat has a weird growth on her gum in the front of her mouth. I took her to the vet immediately and the doctor said it was a gingival mass.. doesn’t seem to be bothering her a whole lot at the moment and she’s eating and drinking fine. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this? I’m a little less worried than I was but still on guard.
Puck is right to be concerned! When I was a toddler my dad worked at a Sears store. The stairwell to where he worked had a 50s Saturn style hanging light fixture. I was terrified of it, wouldn’t get close enough to the stairwell to even get a glimpse of it! I just knew it was a flying saucer, out to get me!
It was near 70 here today and the peep toads are out in force tonight. I’ll have to get my “jamboree” mug out and have a warm drink on the deck before bedtime.

All four cats’ reactions are so very characteristic of each one of them. Puck and O.Z. being opposite, of course. Gotta love that kitten’s attitude.

One of my favorite episodes of One Step Beyond is called Premonition. A young girl keeps having visions of the chandelier in her home falling on her.

So OZ or Lupin swinging from the light fixture? Give Lupin coffee and he absolutely could. The ceiling can be a floor.

You missed the ceiling because you were playing “lava” with the floor, Ora Zella.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Ora Zed: Where do I start to find scrolls on the ancient Meowlexandria Library?
Beatrixia: You can start with the 930s, Ancient History. Maybe even the 400s, Languages.
Ora: But what if the scroll is in a foreign language?
Bea: I think our Dancing Corsair can help there. Or maybe our Royal Procurers will tell.
Ora: Well what are we waiting for? Let’s get started!
Puckmosis: Not so fast. We need to be careful when handling the scrolls.
Sometime Later
Puck: I think the scrolls you have are enough for now. Let’s take a look at them and the ones in a foreign script we’ll show Elvis-Anum.
Ora: This is the start of a real adventure!
