I think it’s time to give that teaching career another look, Luann. Writing may not be your thing.
Tiff, when you work at a job.. your boss tells you want to do. Get used to it!
.
On a side note.. anyone else here from AZ? The heat here is unreal. We broke another all time temp record in Phoenix today, that stood for almost 50 years. Hope everyone keeps cool.
Luann’s also one to talk with her own exaggerated conclusions. The fact that Tiffany didn’t quit despite feeling like TJ was being unreasonable and probably isn’t actually penniless never crossed Luann’s mind. And being overwhelmed and exasperated? Luann would never do a thing like that herself! (with Luann’s smug, condescending side-eye look, you’d think Luann approached every hardship with the humble grace of a suffering martyr)
It’d be nice if Luann would get off her high horse and be a little understanding and try to be a friend rather than an opportunist.
1- The anger, and the things that Tiffany is angry about, are not personality traits that GnK have previously shown us about Tiffany. So obviously, this is something that Karen has created for some new, but poor, arc.
2- Luann’s evaluations of Tiffany’s points of anger, is very irritating.
If this week is really a continuation of last week’s story about Tiffany and Kip I wish it were written as that and not as another Luann can’t write story. Partly because Luann has already shown that she can write and mostly because it is more fair to the readers. Here we are on Thursday and no connection has been made between Tiffany’s incompetent, rude and aggressive behavior. For all appearance it’s like a stupid Luann clone is interviewing a defective Tiffany clone. None of this feels real. And it ought to be an embarassment to the creator of this strip.
Luann is building a character for her story. That’s okay as long as she names her something other than Tiffany. Tiffany needs a chill pill, or maybe she just needs to get away for awhile. She hasn’t had a vacation, and everyone needs some time off.
Luann, you just twisted everything Tiff said. Detestable. You should find another profession, oh,..unless you aspire to join the paparazzi in the future. ☜ (↼_↼)
Luann is definitely missing her greatest opportunity, here. She is sitting with a girl who needs very little encouragement to start venting articulately, rather than with merely frustrated grunts and groans. Just a few questions would open the floodgates and bypass all kinds of social filters.
Tiffany really wants to talk about her problems with someone and the interview already seems to be moving towards serious/deep confidences. I wonder if Tiffany stopped seeing Mrs. Fogarty and why. Luann writes her notes full of judgments about Tiffany, they look like the notes of “Harriet the spy” and i love this! It’s easy to see it’s the first time Luann is interviewing someone (Piro was just two questions), but how will her react seeing Tiffany really in crisis? If she were Bernice, I’d have no doubt she would continue to write indifferently faking empathy, but I can’t see Luann be cold in front of a not just overdramatic, but a truly desperate Tiffany.
Luann is making personalized conclusions about Tiffany that don’t add up, such as Tiffany being a quitter, which by working at the Fuse, when she doesn’t have too, is manifestly not true. The story is about Luann, not Tiffany. Is this some sort of ersatz description of fellow characters in Luannverse from the personal perspective of the name character? We’ll see, maybe.
This Luann-at-the-keyboard-while-Tiffany-rants arc has a Vale motif behind it. While Luann went into theatrics, Vale took notes. Tiff is ranting and venting. Luann is taking notes. Tiffany is oblivious as to what Lu is doing.
She’s not a quitter and she desires to forge a sort of independence for herself rather than just just depend on her father. You could cast her as a more positive individual if you weren’t still unhappy with her from high school.
Luann is a NEGATIVE spin doctor. Reverse spin? Generalizing overall negativity from little things. Making atom bombs out of firecrackers. She would make a ‘good’ politician.
Luann’s “notes” describe herself. I don’t know where this is going, but I wish they would find a writer who is actually familiar with the back stories and personalities of the characters. Tiffany’s bad attitude and public ranting is out of character and her father has never been shown as being in regular contact with her. This is just an out of context “typical teenager” characterization being applied to one of the characters in the strip, for whatever reason.
recheck your notes Luann. Tif loves her dad, isn’t broke, and, isn’t exaggerating. As a lot of us believe, her frustrations about the situation with Kip are spilling out into work.
Luann is looking especially Muppet-like today, particularly in the second panel. And she seems to have picked up Bernice’s bad habit of passing judgment on the people around her.
Tiff is doing an amazing job of learning to stand on her own two feet. Luann has it all wrong. Everyone goes through these learning stages. Sorry Luann, you’re the one who needs to grow up.
Luann is keyboarding with two fingers and misinterpreting everything that is being said. I don’t think she is going to be a very successful writer if that’s the level of her typing skills, but this is a good example of the lack of listening ability in teens.
Most people do what Luann is doing here. She’s basing her observation on her past experiences with Tiffany who did everything to sabotage Luann’s life. She’s not giving her credit for her efforts to grow.
The only correct note was the last. Tiff is not broke or a quitter. She simply wants to stand on her own 2 feet. And in this world some bosses are more of a burden than a blessing. But underlings, be they daughters or employees, need guidance.
This is the importance of “words”. Someone can say “Elaine really likes to save money”. One person (who likes Elaine) might say “she’s thrifty”. Another person who doesn’t like Elaine might say “she’s cheap”.
Talk about miscommunication!!!! Wow—-this is a great opportunity for these two to really see each other but Luann isn’t really hearing a thing Tiffany is saying. She’s using her own filter in a negative way.
