Tara, the anti-tiffany! Not trying to steal Luann’s boyfriend but butting in at every chance to keep Piro isolated and dependent on her. Can we have for once a story without a manufactured villain? What’s wrong with a story where Luann realizes that Piro needs a friend, not a girlfriend and backs off on her own?

I like how Tara invites herself to study with Luann. I think it’s not only because she wants to protect Piro, but also because she don’t want to be put aside by her friend Luann. Let’s hope this time she can get to her house in time and they can write together. Piro will probably understand that Luann is more human than his idealized version of her and will like her more. Nice to see how Luann has grown over the years from the little girl who couldn’t talk to Aaron to the young woman who invites the boy she likes without any difficulty. I just hope that seeing Luann’s happy family doesn’t make Piro jealous. But what scares me the most is that in Luann’s house there is the biggest danger of all. BERNICE!

It’s so interesting that after all these years, Brad is the only one with a healthy successful relationship!

Tara’s coming off as a hypocrite considering she didn’t even tell Luann about the parasailing till the first day back at school. I get putting Piro’s feelings first but to only tell Luann cryptically, “I don’t want you with him, you’ll damage him!” without explaining what that even means is being a bad friend.

Also I gotta question Mrs. Horner’s methods. “Do an imaginative essay. I’ll let you guess what I’m hoping to see from you. I’m not even going to give a page/word count limit or parameters of topic. Class dismissed!” The fact she didn’t give the length would have stressed me out if I were her student. (Also funny Luann demanded a do-over when she got two really simple word selection prompts, but here she’s pretty unbothered)

Also bold of Luann to assume that it can be done collaboratively, but given Mrs. Horner’s vagueness who’s to say if that’s even against the rules?

Why is Tara hovering over Piro? She is only his cousin, butt out girl.

Piro + Luann + Tara + Bernice … Hope this will be funny and not the drama.

Well, hopefully this resolves who is competing with who… but as to why? Hmm… maybe it’s a type of jealousy. Tara is currently the one with the most important connection to both Piro and Luann; she is the former’s cousin, the latter’s “friend”. If they became a couple though, then she would suddenly be the outsider, the “least important” so to say, of the group. And we can’t have that, she needs to be the center. Maybe.

Or maybe it’s a simpler answer, she needs to put Luann down constantly. Her entire relationship with Luann has been a constant “you need to be more like ME”. In that vein, Luann “is not good enough for Piro”, Tara is the only one that can understand him (as a friend/cousin, doesn’t have to be anything cringe-worthy). She literally said that to her. I think it’s this one – the alternative explanation though will probably come into play as soon as (IF) there is any kind of serious development between the two.

How come nobody’s concerned with what is going on with this class???The students show up, the teacher says “I want you do do X, but I’m not going to tell you what X is, go do it.” And they leave. That’s like a 5 min class with no instruction!! Is this what we are paying tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands for these days?

Fifty bucks says that Luann’s “imaginative essay” is a retelling of an event in someone’s life rather than a work of pure fiction, as she’s apparently incapable of making something up. If we even get to see the essay.

I can see how Tara could think L was addressing both her and Piro, since L said “we” and not “you and I” or something like, “Hey, Piro, why don’t we…” Tara doesn’t hang back, she jumps right into everything. She’s right in character here. L can learn from this and be more specific in future when inviting Piro to work with her.

I like it! Lol! We may get the quadrangle yet, especially if Bernice is home and these three show up. As usual, Luann isn’t thinking this through. Next week will be very interesting if this arc continues.

As usual, Karen Evans takes the storyline past slightly odd and straight into totally creepy. What’s her problem? Did she or does she have a crush on a cousin? Whatever the reason, she now has Tara competing with Luann for Piro’s attention and that’s just weird.

Who is Tara protecting? Luann? That would mean Piro has a behavioral problem that people need to be shielded from.

I get the feeling that Tara is lonely and without family. Now that ‘cousin’ Piro is in her live – she feels she has family now. (nothing creepy about it)

Exactly what is Tara doing? Does she think LuAnn is not good for Piro or the other way around? She seems like a jealous rival.

So many possibilities for next week. Will both Piro and Tara go to Luann’s place? Will Luann be annoyed w/Tara for assuming that she was included? The likelyhood that Bern will be home would could change the angle of the story line. It would be better if they went to the Fuse and spread out at a table. Three heads would be better than one; prior scenes of Luann and Tara at table together, writing, always show Luann with blank screen and Tara busy writing.

What. Are they all going to sit down, come up with some ideas, and then all three of them use those same ideas?? Hopefully Bernice will be there and squash all this nonsense by becoming Piro’s love interest.

This strip has become a soap opera.

Actually, this strip lost its spark when they all graduated from high school, and the characters went to the university while Luann went to community college. With all the time she spent looking for colleges, she took the easy way by staying with her parents and going to the community college while the others all went to the university. While I don’t think it’s wrong to stay with her parents since the university is so close by, it would have been nice to see her go to the university and let the story continue with Tiffany, Gunther, Luann, Dez and Bets. Bernice is irritating, and I wouldn’t mind seeing her leave the strip altogether. It’s nice to have Les, Ox, Nancy and Frank in the strip, with Brad and Toni dropping in with Shannon now and then. I wish the strip would focus on the university setting, the Fuse, and the characters at their jobs and drop the community college scene.

Karen has a thing about fifth wheels, doesn’t she? First the Tiff, Kip and Stef thing and now THIS. I think Tara is being so protective because she knows this family well and she is afraid of Luann getting hurt or disappointed. She knows how Luann has been sheltered and she knows her friend is not up to the task.
