“Put me down, I crave the spoons!” Best part of being finished iwth the utterly excellent world war mole arc is we can get back to this little freak of nature doing what she does best… being pure chaos on a level even LUPIN can’t reach. And he’s tried. Oh how he’s tried.
Georgia, or anyone else, there’s a product called True Lemon that’s a ‘water enhancer’ that is very inexpensive that I keep in the house that you can use for cooking and baking as well as adding to your glass/bottled water. It’s $5-6 for a package of 100 and has a loooooong shelf life. All it is, is dried lemon crystals. Fabulous stuff and really wonderful to keep on hand, especially this time of year.
I have to make one more run to the boutique grocery today for those very few things that wouldn’t keep from Friday’s run. Then I’m done. Tomorrow is the real work day. I’ll do my stuffing, my green bean with mushroom and cippolini dish, my mashed potatoes, get all my dishes out, my table set up, everything ready so Thursday, all I have to do is stuff the turkey, shove it in the oven and relax for the most part. I used to try to do everything on Thursday morning. By dinner, I was exhausted. I don’t do that anymore. Seems like sometimes, the older you get, the smarter you get. Who knew?
I love her little apron! I wonder if my girl that likes to “help” in the kitchen would tolerate an apron. I could make us matching aprons – and be mocked by my husband. My helper loves the kitchen and is unphased by having flour in her fur (she can be quite insistent on getting attention when I’m baking and yes I wash my hands after as she’s not patient enough to wait).
Only Hamilton insists on being in the kitchen when I cook. He sniffs everything but doesn’t lick unless I tell him it’s okay. None of the other cats pay any interest. Meanwhile, my Sous Chef and I are trying to tech out this new range. Do you know, they don’t send owners manuals anymore? You have to go online and download a PDF. Also, the high BTU burner on the old stove was front-right. Now, it is on the other side, and it has a lot more BTUs than the old burner. I bet I could use a Wok on that burner.
The old oven was just an oven & broiler. This new thing is an oven, convection oven, air fryer, and broiler. It’s like driving a 73 Mustang and then trying to figure out the control panel of the space shuttle. I’m kvetching, I know. I should be happy that it arrived on time. Hamilton and I are going to bake something tonight…I’m not sure what, but I need to test this thing before Thanksgiving.
Any speculations on what she is making? I will admit I am guilty of using measuring spoons multiple times while cooking without washing. All the ingredients are getting mixed together anyway, right?
Which is why I would never eat a meal at the Big Pink House On the Hill. Our cats stay out of the kitchen when we are cooking and cleaning. They have been trained that way. They also do not get up on the tables or counters. Cats can be trained.
I need help and all of you are such good pet lovers.
QTπ does not have a UTI or pancreatitis. Its neurological.
She is at my vet overnight to stay under observation and get fluids and steroids to bring down any inflammation. Tomorrow after my client in the morning I’m getting her and transporting her to Clackamus to a vet with an mri and a neurologist.
$$$
The overnight is going to cost me $2,000.
The mri alone, much less the Dr., will be $2,300
I applied for and got a credit card for vet offices with a max of $2,200
My boss (BOSS!!!) is going to put $600 on the bill in Clackamus.
I have a little les than $300.
The local Humane Society is going to call my vet in the morning and get her info and see how much they can help with. ?$
Ive got a GoFundMe started, but even if that brings in any help, it’s going to be after the bill comes due, so to speak, these vets want cash up front.
And then, there is no telling what is wrong with her and what it’s going to take to fix it.
The go fund me address is on my profile and at Cleo & Co. I dont know how much of me you will see tomorrow. I’m going to be busy. If you see this let everyone know about this post.Thank you.
My grandson, Sean, who is staying with me right now (long story but not bad) helped me make my fruitcakes today. He wrote down the recipe so he can continue the tradition. After mixing for me, he said he never realized how much work it is, and he understands why I only make them once a year.
When she was 3 our younger granddaughter loved to play with the demitasse spoons we never used. One day she was waving a spoon around and muttering. I asked, “What are you doing?” “Magic,” she said. “What kind of magic?” “Spoon magic,” she replied in a mildly condescending tone of voice.

Flour sifters, aren’t as good as spoons
There’s such a lot of cutlery
Not just to measure, stir and blend

The rule is, if your cat licks a spoon it’s not clean enough to put back in the drawer, but it’s still clean enough to cook or eat with.

I’m not much of a baker or a cook, so my role in helping to prepare big holiday meals is twofold.
1. get things from the pantry/fridge on command
2. wash bowls, saucepans, mixing utensils, etc. when they’ve been used, so they can be used again for something else
