And this is how some people find themselves thrust into life-altering situations that they were never prepared for. Either that, or all of this is just a steaming load of bull——.

Last week was wonderful with Luann taking charge, knowing what she was doing and keeping others from mucking up. This week… Frank rags she not humble enough, she rags that her cloths look baggy and today the reporter talks right over Luann as she were not there. Bad reporter, bad, bad reporter. Greg and Karen haven’t done her any honors. Nor to Luann.

If you wanted to blow her mind, you should have told Pam that you wanted HER job, Lu! ;-)

Interesting how aimless Brad became a firefighter because of 911 and a paramedic mostly because of Toni. Now BS Luann may be starting a new series arc.

I can’t see Luann being a doctor or nurse for anyone other than children. Maybe she will aim to work at a children’s hospital. I do want her to work towards a career, even if she changes her path much later. For Better or For Worse, it will make this comic more interesting to follow.

I’m very curious about how Luann’s “crowd” reacts to her 15 seconds—Bernice, Ox, Bets, Tiff, Brad & Toni, TJ—even the brat Shannon!

I await Bernice rushing to Luann to immediately squash her aspirations to being a doctor. Honestly, that might be a wise idea though cause we could easily come to the conclusion that Luann being absentminded and accident prone would make her a danger to have in a medical profession.

Typical news personality, don’t confuse OUR “facts” with real facts.

Inaccurate reporting, doesn’t listen, talks over you, and rather vain. That’s the media for you.

Maybe LuAnn will finally recognize a calling. She could be a paramedic because she is actually smart and good in emergencies.

Dr.? That’s how the media starts wild rumors.

I thought it was a more down to earth meaning.

Remember Admiral William “Bull” Halsey. A reporter asked him whether he had a nickname and he replied that his friends called him Bill. Of course, the reporter heard “Bull” instead of “Bull” (it fit) and he was stuck with an appellation he didn’t like.

I still think this is a dream. She did fall asleep in class.

Luann, I think you already have discovered your potential.

A doctor of osteopathy is considered and legally is a fully credentialed physician.

I’m thinking Luann doesn’t have the focus, drive, interest, nor the perseverance to become a doctor. Now if she had a magic wand she could wave to help others, that would be a different story (and a different comic strip).

Really? The BS T-shirt is just asking for it. Too simple.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. Or something like that.

As Luann is seeing herself on the TV, maybe the Dr.Degroot reference might give her some ideas for her future. Though she’s not so good at scholasticism, still having a calling can make all the difference. It worked for me.

Pam really misunderstood everything, I fear more and more that Luann will end up pushed in trying to do studies she doesn’t believe in. It would be a good opportunity to see the effects of social pressure. Or maybe Luann will start doing some deep self-reflection, ask to her parents and friends and talk to Toni and Brad to understand if she wants to become a doctor. Hopefully, this will lead her to visit Mrs. Horner at the hospital and find an answer, thanks to her dear teacher or the medical staff.

Vale cracks me up! Wonder how Luann’s friends will respond, if they’ve seem this report.

I’m completely embarrassed for the reporter. I think she’s making up for an assignment she forgot to do in 3rd grade.

Ending with fake news. They just can’t help themselves.

This seems like an insult to the news media. I know they don’t allow the people on camera to just “wing it” and they definitely don’t allow them to make comments on air that could be legally challenged.

This story seems to have reached an end. I wonder what will happen Friday and Saturday. Maybe we’ll see the reaction of Luann’s friends, like Bernice, Tiffany or Bets. It would be nice to see Jack, haven’t seen him in a long time.

Wonder what Frank & Nancy will say about this news.

While it’s not impossible, every person I know who has become a medical doctor essentially started the path of study in 8th grade. Junior year of college is a bit late.

Give it up, Luann. You’re going nowhere you haven’t been.

Luann may actually be great as a doctor or nurse. She’s kind and considerate, for a start.

Wow, it really is a 3 ring circus in here (The comment section). Honestly, that reporter ignoring Luann and just making up her own story line looks just like the local reporters around here ignoring the story and just spinning their own opinion. Why would that surprise you ???

She’s now found her calling?…….

I’ve met multiple doctors who studied music not science prior to going to med school. I met a doctor who decided as an empty nester to go to med school – so not a decision made as a kid. There may be a “typical path” but there is plenty of room for deviations from the mean.Quite a few people develop an interest in medicine after a loved one falls ill or has an accident. Yes, it is has a competitive gate-keeping path to navigate, but sometimes people have surprising ways they enter it.I don’t know what direction the creators will see Luann’s character development going, but people who aren’t fond of school, chores, etc. can make it through intense degrees and work hard at things they feel internally motivated to do. (Brad being an example in this strip.) It will be interesting to see if this inspires Luann to take up medical study, to put her foot down and demand to choose her own path away from medicine, to have a nervous breakdown under the weight of external demands, or… ?If it isn’t a dream there is extra potential for external and not just internal pressures. I feel like the storyline started off slow (not a big deal to me) but at this point has many interesting directions it can take. Based on years of reading this comic, I don’t see Luann’s character as one dimensional. I think it isn’t unreasonable that she could manage to be successful at medical study, or avoid medical study and teach, be an artist/performer, welder, etc.Looking forward to seeing where the creators go with this.

I didn’t read Luann on a daily basis when she was in high school – What math and science courses did she take, and what were her grades? In college she’ll need to eventually take calculus, biology and chemistry, just for a start in order to get a degree in an appropriate STEM major.

On one hand, she’s being pressured into becoming a doctor. On the bright side, I believe there was a medical school in Manhattan that offered free tuition for students.

Dr. ? Not in this universe. :-p
