I was so glad to see in today’s paper yesterday that this is what we have to look forward to, but can’t we please, please, please, for the love of cake stay on this for longer than just a week or two? This is Luann’s comic after all, how about actually letting her character experience some growth and development for a change.

Hooray! Luann is back!

It’s not a bad idea to actively try to have new experiences – they don’t have to be big things. A friend who recently turned 70 decided to have 70 new experiences in the coming year.

Hey – Luann is a Big Girl – How can she not know how “B.S.” is perceived by most people…

No more Steffi? Yay!!

Luann will be a blank slate forever. I supposed we won’t find out about the Tiff/Stef spat saga for a while.

Not just BS but BS squared

Living in Beijing, I get to see an interesting shirt on sale for tourists. It has “I (heart) BJ” on the front. Luann should get that one too and see her parents’ reaction.

And then Mrs. Horner says “you went skydiving as I recall; I’ll bet that was an adventure. Tell me about it.”

We actually got back to Mrs. Horner?!!! Hurrah. But will be teaching anymore? Will Luann stop wearing that stupid Blank Slate T-Shirt? Will she do something interesting? Inquiring minds want to know!

Nice to see Mrs. Horton again; she looks well. I wonder if she’ll go back to teaching.

Guess we’ll have to wait for a later time to see how the Stef-Tiff feud turns out.

I’m smiling again. Such a nice reprieve from non-Luann drama, and Mrs. Horner is such a shining star. She even makes ME want to be a better person.

OK – Luann should not have Bernice with her on this mission – that’s a start…

Mrs. Horner’s gonna teach Luann how to become old an stay single gracefully

Somebody PLEASE tell Luann that “blank slate” is derogatory and implies that she is merely a passive receptor of other people’s information and influences. This was the model of public schooling generations ago as students were treated as empty vessels to receive uncritically what ever they were taught. That is the more accurate metaphor. It now seems clear that “BS” describes G&K’s grasp of Luann’s development.

Nice to see that Mary Worth still puts in the occasional appearance on the comics page.

Yawn. Luann, huh? She’s all talk and no action. One of the boringest characters in this strip. Guess GnK think we need a nice and steady reprieve from the Quad Dorm drama. The truth is the last strip of Quad Dorm were all words, too. My guess they will need to bring back Kip to inject drama in that room. Probably not for another month or so. So what will this Luann arc be about? Will we read about Mrs Horner’s younger days as to encourage Luann to explore and be adventurous? Nah. Its not her nature. I also think she’s still recovering from the sting of the Quill breakup which is why she hasn’t shown any interest. She’s been living a monotone life.

For those clamoring for more Luann, there ya go, spinning in the same direction.

Luann is taking one step at a time.

I wish I could go back to see a couple of teachers to thank them….and tell them they were correct about a few things in life as you get older, when at the time I was in high school, I was sure they didn’t know what they were talking about.

It’s so nice to see dear Mrs. Horner again. The deep connection Luann has with her is so sweet. I’m curious to see where this discussion about what Luann can put on her slate goes. If anyone can really help her figure out what she wants, it’s Mrs. Horner.

Luann had grown. How? Many reasons.

But mainly because unlike her former arc rival Tiffany, Lu’s no longer chasing after some joker who’s totally not worth, the effort. So GOOD for Lu.

Oh. And congrats to the Buffalo Bills in defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, and spoiling their “perfect record” for the year.

Heh. Seems like whenever some team comes dangerously close to matching the Dolphins legendary ‘72 season, a team from New York always rides in and saves the Dolphins’ bacon.

Yes, I exaggerate as usual. But Kudos to Buffalo and may they have a mild Winter. ;-)

Creepy Creek Retirement Residence.

Well, congratulations to those of us who predicted a lack of resolution to the dorm situation. And I hope the people chanting “why don’t we get to see Luann?” are happy. She’s even still wearing her inane t-shirt that she has to explain to everyone. I wonder is she still has her creepy Piro puppet.

despite being in assisted living, Mrs Horner is observant and sharp. Maybe she will be the one to actually get Luann to put something on her ‘blank slate’.

Glad to see Luann visting Mrs Horner. There is a wealth of knowledge to be explored there. As for the politcal comments, of which I am sick and tired of, I just click the little flag and move on. The election is over, so get over it!

Is this a rerun, or did Luann just pull out her shirt from a few months ago?

Spending time with someone who has seen a lot of life is a good way to fill in some of that slate.

Usually when there is a Ms. Horner arc and Luann it means something significant is about to be said or happen, or both, that is very important in Luann’s development in her world. Luann is still trying to find her purpose and Ms. Horner is a wise way, with a few misdirection plays along the way.

Name the ONE significant change you’d most like to see the character Luann undergo.

For my money, it would be for her to stumble onto her real deal passion profession.

And I do mean “stumble”. Something completely out of left field.

Unexpected, yes. But that doesn’t have to mean out of character.

Just territory not previously encountered/explored or thought about.

Luann is way too lazy to accomplish this “blank slate” goal she’s come up with. She needs to just forget all that, get ride of that hideous shirt and accept that she is an unmotivated slob.

Yup. Life is pretty blank. Even Tiffany has more drama.

And just like that we’re back close to where all these bizarre storylines have been going. I continue to really enjoy this particular flow of stories. Not really surprised we ended up back here. It is Luann after all ! ;-) Happy Monday !

As I see it that’s a pretty good start for Luann.

The world runs on BS, and money makes the world go ’round

I first thought the sign in the first panel said Creepy Creek.

Tiff and Bern have often displayed their romantic inclinations, like most all the regulars in the strip. But it’s precisely her lack of such inclinations that keeps Luann so bland. I don’t know why G&K want to keep her as an eternal nun, because it seems so un-entertaining. I actually liked Quill, but while Luann liked him socially, she kept him at a distance even after they were in college, with her apparently inhibited libido, so they broke up. Pru was Quill’s immediate replacement, and for years there were hints that she and Lu might hit it off. That could even explain Luann’s chill toward Quill. But G&K abruptly dropped that theme too, so it’s back to the convent for Luann.

This is a comic strip that appeals to all sort of folks. Leave your political spiel at the door!

Dang! At first glance, I thought the sign said “Creepy Creek,” then I zoomed in and realized that was an elongated S instead of a C.

Why just Just? A visit with her could easily be at least a very satisfying way to spend your time, and potentially life changing.

What’s bad is when you are a blank slate because time wiped the slate clean.

The black square looks like a subpoenaed Canadian government document.

I like this as a stand alone strip. She was a blank slate so instead of skydiving, she visited an elderly person. I think that is beautiful right there.
