Humans can be so self defeating

I don’t want to eat properly and I don’t want to exercise. I just want to be able to buy a pill that makes me trim and muscular without any effort on my part. Well, I’ll probably have to go through the trouble of actually taking it.

“But I can’t afford to eat better.” Despite the whole food desert thing, you still have to eat it to gain it.

Hey, hey, hey. No fat shaming allowed. …tsk

Bingo.

Isn’t that evolutionary parade in the reverse order? The walking fish should have led the way.

The Evolution Revolution?

Portion inflation is part of the problem. Way back a large soda was 16 oz, that’s not even a small today.

One of the fast food chains here has a menu in which you can order, for example, a #1, which is a small sandwich, fries and drink or a #2, which is a regular size of the same combo, or #3, which is a large size of the same combo. However, when you order, the server always asks if you want that it in a large, regular, small or supersize. Why? If you order a #1, doesn’t that mean you want small? It’s so confusing and irritating that I never go there anymore.

The Wiley bear is grinning, KNOWING that his friends at the bottom of the gorge will save some for him…

Diet and exercise. It’s a balance. But Americans tend to screw about with the first, while neglecting the second.

If the bridge is broken the rest of the line can’t move forward. Is this the end of evolution? Is this as good as we get? Depressing.

Don’t forget that the process of Evolution naturally weeds out the unsustainable traits to allow the more favorable ones to rise to the surface. So this is not unexpected as the Ecosystem works to eliminate the failures.

Devolution. Devolution is a process of decline.

COVID is taking a larger percentage of obese Americans according to the Washington Post updates:

“Obesity is turning out to be one of the key indicators that a person will have a particularly bad run-in with covid-19. One study found people with body mass indexes over 30 are at much greater risk for hospitalization, intensive care and death. Another showed that people under age 60 are two to three times more likely to be admitted to the hospital for covid-19 if they are obese. “We almost think this is akin to throwing a match on a tinderbox,” said Sara Tartof, a Kaiser Permanente research scientist. With one of the highest obesity rates in the world, some experts think it has contributed to the stunning coronavirus death rate in the United States.”
