The last arc with Ann ended with Nancy kicking her out of the cafe. Wondering how that ties in.
Tiffany has it right: just let go, grow up, and live the best lives they possibly can. And just let Tom and Ann self-destruct together if it turns out that she tricked him.
Even giving up, Tiff still has to live at home with Ann. She will always badger Tiff from insecurity and jealousy over Tiff’s position as daughter.
Then there’s the point of securing a position of advantage for her own child.
Stopping the fight doesn’t seem like an acceptable strategy.
Of course GnK may cause a miracle to happen such that, with marriage, Ann Awful morphs from The Wicked Witch to The Fairy Godmother? If they try that it will be a farce of the first magnitude!
It is very ironic that the one who thinks that they should “grow up” is the one who threw her future step-mother’s clothing out the window! (And likely is still there)
First, they want to get even, then they don’t. Sheesh, it’s like watching a friggin’ yo-yo.
Once upon a time, both of these kids had GOALS. Les told his Uncle Al, that he wanted to be a success. Tiffany wanted to be a business mogul. But they let their mutual hatred of Ann Eiffel get in the way of that.
Les should get his G.E.D. (If doesn’t have one already) then get his skinny butt into a trade school. Have trouble trouble with the math? I’m fairly sure that if Les asks nicely, his roommate would help him with that. It’s for sure there’s no future in washing dishes at the Fuse.
Tiffany should still attend college (Unless she’s been kicked out) and HIT those books like her life depended on it. (It does) Bets offered help. Tiffany should take her up on it. And Tiff-should-stay-the-H3LL-away-from-the-Hall-A-Gang! And if she can’t cut college, get a license from the health department and either talk Nancy into opening up a nail salon at the Fuse. Or get a job at that nail salon she used to frequent.
As for the war with Ann? Consider. Ann has Tiff’s father. But Tiff has Ann’s “son.” And at a time Ann was trying to re-bond with her “son” in her own crude way. In fact, maybe the reason why Ann has been pounding Tiffany so hard is because not only did Tiffany torpedoed Ann’s lingerie scam, but she drove a wedge between Ann and her “son.” And like it or not, Ann got the better part of the deal. Ann “won.“
Tiffany’s right. Grow up and get on with their lives. And surround themselves with friends and family that will HELP them. Oh, and get Ann’s stuff off the lawn.
Now watch. These two won’t do ANY of This next week. ;)

It’s harder for Les because Ann abandoned him to marry a man who didn’t want her kid and he was raised by Uncle Al Gray. It is hard for a kid to forget and let go. Tiff always had a home and was raised by a father, albeit a neglectful one, but he was around. Soon Tiff will come to realize the attention he threw on her were all pretty presents and not his love or attention. It will help her let him go. Go live her life. Les might have authentic concern that Ann might do something similar to his sibling – like divorce Tom and sue for child support and alimony so she could be independently wealthy without the burden of a marriage….for 18 years. Then she turns around and dumps the child on someone – perhaps Al Gray and Irma?
I sincerely hope this means Tiffany either gets a second job to pay for beauty school, and moves into her own place, or contacts the owner of Souffle about the possibility of a job there. Either way, she needs to move on with her future and recognize that her father will always believe what Ann says, not what Tiffany says…
So Ann has been moody for years because of pregnancy? She is awful. It isn’t just about these two growing up. They just shouldn’t focus on them so much. But, Ann and Daddy dearest are old. This particular arc is not really that good. When is “Luann” going to go back to being about well… Luann and her misadventures. I couldn’t wait to go through them getting older when I was a kid. Now I wish they were teens again.
It can be pretty much assumed that Tom WILL pop the question on the romantic get away and Ann will gloat to Tiff about. But I will laugh hard if it it turns out he decided to have Ann sign a pre-nup first and then put HER on allowance.
After all, he is supposed to have money trouble. And once he puts a ring on it, what is Ann going to do? If she leaves she gets nothing, if she goes through and then divorces she gets nothing.
I have mixed feelings about this. Tiffany tried to let go once before, and we all know how that turned out. But if a baby is coming, she can’t win. Still, she is on the right track. The best possible way to get back at somebody you hate is to just walk away, build a good life for yourself, and enjoy it. Anyone who hates you will seeth with rage, and the best part is, you will have had nothing to do with it.
I think she is finally getting it! Time to live your own life and let your father live his. Find your own direction in life and stop letting Ann get the best of you. Success is the best revenge.
I like this growth for Tiffany. Growing up doesn’t mean Ann wins, it allows Tiffany to control the game. She is an adult, her own happiness is the best revenge. As it stands now, Tiffany is being used as a driving force keeping Ann and Tom together … a them vs her situation. But that still doesn’t mean Ann can use Tiffany as a doormat. In my opinion, Tiffany just needs to walk away. No revenge, no schemes. Go live your life Tiff and be happy. Talk with Nancy, save money by moving into the Degroots spare room and learn that family isn’t blood, its the men and women that stand by you, support you and help you. Those people are your family. You don’t need daddy or his money. You don’t need Ann or her misery.
What a pleasant surprise if Tiffany grew up. If she fights with Ann she looses. Hopefully she won’t get involved with her father’s love life, but I am not hopeful. But yes these two must grow up
What a monumental waste of time. Not just this dead end; the entire Ann torturing Tiff arc including the Nancy subarc. Like the last episode of The Sopranos; no payoff for us un-entertained readers. Hilarity has not ensued.
Tiffany has grown up so much♡. She has finally decided to break away from her father for the sake of both. The father is happy and has enough money to keep Ann without problem. Maybe there will also be an arc dedicated to the marriage between Ann and Tom and the born of the baby.♡. For me it’s a win win.
What’s the phrase? You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar? Maybe treating Ann nicely and not letting her get under their skin, she’ll drop her act. If no one reacts, there’s no reason for her to continue!
So, symbolically, Tiffany buttons up her collar and becomes resigned to life imprisonment as a “grown up”. Come on, Tiff, open up that shirt, there’s a sexy young babe screaming to get out.
I keep reading this expecting the comeuppance Ann deserves for being such a witch, and see her ending up with the modern day ending equivalent to “Miss Minchin” from the movie “A Little Princess”
Tiffany has legitimate reasons to be mad at Ann and she shouldn’t just ignore them for the sake of her oblivious father. Ann has belittled and insulted her at every turn and she has a right to still be mad at that. She should start by telling her father she’s upset her room was changed. Tom has a big house and Ann could have picked any other room to remodel.
It is almost impossible for an outsider to fight an addiction (booze, drugs, a person). The junkie has to decide for themselves they’ve had enough, some never do and it ends badly.
The Ann Eiffel thread just continues to ignore the fact that Ann Eiffel should be in jail. The writer had her commit a crime that he has never taken responsibility for resolving. His solution? Time goes by everybody will forget about it.
Ann is evil – incapable of true love, a narcissistic, selfish B who makes everything about herself, she is not a business woman, she cheats and preys on the money of others and puts on a good show. Ann needs out and readers need to see justice served.
Tiffany can’t outsmart or outwit Ann Eiffel, the professional grifter, and has no authority over her father, an older man and successful businessman. Leslie Knox was an academic failure in high school (didn’t graduate) https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2014/06/02 Tiffany did graduated from high school.
Not that I believe this will be the end of the Tiffany/Ann/Tom, and Les arcs, there is so much that can still be plumbed, and I look forward to seeing what might happen. But I think this is an example of growth on Tiffany’s part, with hilarity ensues in the funny response of Les. I think it’s a good thing on both their parts, They need to go on with their lives, they cannot do anything serious about their parents.
If she wants to grow up, the first step will be to pick up all of Ann’s belongings off the lawn. I’m not sure I agree with Luann about her father and Ann. Has she sat him down and told him what she knows about Ann in a mature manner? Whether he chooses to believe her or not is up to him, but it will be an educated decision. Luann would have to make it clear that it would not affect her behavior towards Ann going forward and no more will be said about it.
Tiffany goes through waves of self growth and realization; I think we are currently at the peak of wave 3. What’s really good this time is that she has arrived there on her own, without mentoring by others (it’s summer and for the 1st time in a long time she’s home alone). We may get little snippets here and there about Tom and Ann but, by and large, it is all about Tiff, Les and their ability to grow and move on. At first I thought Les was doing better (this week) but clearly Tiff has pulled ahead. I think we can conclude that the clothes have been retrieved from the yard and put back, that Tiff has found a room to sleep in and that she will spend the rest of the summer summer working at the Fuse and and considering her course of study at Mooney.
I know what bothers (and has for years now) me so much about this storyline. Ann Eiffel is an abuser who separates her SO from his family by lying. She’s also a felon. So if the resolution is “we must grow up because my dad is happy” and be all okay with her because she’s (allegedly) pregnant. I’ll probably take a pass on this comic going forward. But I’m open for it taking a realistic turn about confronting abusers and not letting them get away with their crimes.
I have an uneasy feeling that this is a way to keep Ann as a recurring main or secondary character and that as time goes by her crimes/faults will be minimized, and she will never pay for anything she’s done. She’ll just be an irritating stepmother.
Ann is doing what she can to make him like her now, but once she has everything secure I guarantee she’ll turn on him, probably divorce him as fast as possible and take as much of his money as she can. That’s why she cares so much about how much Tiff spends, she wants him to have as much money as he can when she takes it from him in the divorce.
Two who want a piece of their parents’ pie. Two who have yet to come to terms with responsibility, believing instead in a sense of entitlement. Two who perhaps represent a microcosm of our society……
We all know that there is going to be a big misunderstanding after Tiff and Les make big fools of themselves while the whole town thinks Ann is preggie. It’s probably a pix of some other fetus, day Ann, or Tiff.
It’s great seeing Tiff finally starting to get it. Now go retrieve Ann’s clothes from when you reacted to the trap she set for you, which was designed to set you off so that you might do something like that and make a fool of yourself.
My favorite line: I may grow older, but I refuse to grow up. My second favorite line is: Even a cheap laugh is better than no laugh at all. For those with growing impairment (I am 72) Collect coins, collect stamps, collect Army patches, write your memoirs or autobiography and offer it to a library with a collections department, teach a kid how to use a Yo-Yo, etc. As you age, certain opportunities fade, but others appear. I’ve only known a few people with no opportunities. My aunt was one. Some neuro-muscular disorder gradually robbed her of all her ability to move, though her mind remained alert, trapped in a body that didn’t function at all. Other than that kind of situation, figure out what you can do, and do it.
For maturity, point goes to Tiffany. (We will likely see a new story starting Monday. Coming back to this one later, we might see a good outcome here.)
Play the long game, Tiffany and Les. Eventually Anne Awful will show her true colors and Tom will see who she really is. Unfortunately, a lot of people (cartoon and otherwise) will get hurt along the way. That’s how it goes with anti-social individuals. They don’t get better at being human, but they do get better at hiding how they hurt others. Sometimes you just have to walk away in order to protect yourself.
Tiffany: Oh, Ann…I found your ultrasound. I just wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy.Ann: Do you mean that? Well, thanks, Tiffany.Tom: Wait. What? Who’s pregnant? Tiffany: Ann is. Isn’t that great?Tom: Um, well, no. I got a vasectomy after you were born.Ann:…….(crickets…)
Again, I know it’s a comic, but how could a man be happy with a woman who dislikes his daughter? And Tiffany would be doing her dad an injustice if she didn’t fill him in.
It took a moment for me to realize it was Tiffany who suggested they grow up. But, you know what? I’m proud of her.
Ann Eiffel is an evil person who takes great pleasure in hurting anyone she feels is beneath her. Tom is rich, so of course she will shower him with love and affection. Tiffany, however, is not just an inconvenient (being his daughter), but was also smart enough to know how she was scamming customers with fake lingerie. Ann will do everything in her power to hurt Tiffany. The worst part of this is that Tom Farrell is more than willing to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to how Tiffany is suffering. He loves Ann… and that’s all that really matters to him.
Tiffany spent her childhood relying on her father’s money. Now it’s time for her to spread her wings and leave the nest. She may not have a head for business, but she does have a knack for nails, hair and skin.
While she has the mansion to herself, she should focus on earning money from the Fuse and saving for a nice, small apartment. With luck, once Tom and Ann arrive, she’ll be able to just say goodbye and drive off, leaving Tom to deal with Anne’s need for greed.
Meanwhile, Tiffany can focus on enrolling in cosmetology courses, where she will become a top student. She can then work as a beautician in a spa, and one day start her TiffasNails.
The less she thinks about Tom and Ann, the better off she’ll be. It will be up to Tom Farrell to pry himself away from Ann if he wants to bond with his daughter again.
Tiffany’s dad has never been much of a father to her and Les lost his father at an early age and only had Uncle Al as his father figure. And let’s face it and is never going to win any mother of the Year Awards. However Tiffany realizes that she wants her father to be happy and that is growth and less realized that he could possibly love and care for an another sibling. And that is growth so maybe there is hope for them yet
…Ann’s not simply Daddy’s annoying girlfriend. She is outright abusive to almost every person she knows, including her own son Les. In fact, Les and Tiffany bonded over this very fact (January 24 2018), and given what we’ve seen of how she treats Tiffany there is no reason to believe she wouldn’t be an abusive mother to her too. And that’s not even getting into the way she intimidated and harassed her employees back when she managed a fast food place.
Why’s the onus on her victims to “grow up”? It’s not Tiffany and Les who are the issue here (though Les’s suggestion to raise the baby themselves is… well-intentioned but impulsive), it’s Ann herself. A person like her rarely makes a turnaround, and even if she WANTED to atone it isn’t her victims’ job to guide her down the road of enlightenment. The only reasonable thing Tiff CAN do is cut her out of her life, and if her father continues to side with someone who’s caused so much harm to others including his own daughter, then she may have to consider cutting him out of her life, too.
Easier said than done, of course, because Tiffany loves her father dearly and cares about his feelings. She clearly doesn’t WANT to lose him. He needs to be considerate of her, though, and not associate with people that belittle her endlessly. Besides, she’s economically insecure with a small support network, so where would she stay if she cut herself off? With Les (and a baby)? With the DeGroots? She has options, but it’s going to be a difficult step for her to take, financially and emotionally.
Tiffany’s come a long way, though. I hope this really is building up to her and Les getting away from someone that’s constantly hurt them, and not building up to them smiling and nodding just to keep family harmony.
I am still hoping that when Ann tells Tom she’s pregnant, Tom will kick her out because he had the “snip snip” procedure done years ago and realizes that Ann cheated on him.
The odds of Ann being pregnant are slim. Let’s say Les is 20 years old. If Ann was 20 when she had him, she is now 40, and not many child bearing years left. No, that may be the ultrasound photo of LES.

As it stands now, Tiffany is being used as a driving force keeping Ann and Tom together … a them vs her situation. But that still doesn’t mean Ann can use Tiffany as a doormat. In my opinion, Tiffany just needs to walk away. No revenge, no schemes. Go live your life Tiff and be happy. Talk with Nancy, save money by moving into the Degroots spare room and learn that family isn’t blood, its the men and women that stand by you, support you and help you. Those people are your family. You don’t need daddy or his money. You don’t need Ann or her misery.

Tiffany has grown up so much♡. She has finally decided to break away from her father for the sake of both. The father is happy and has enough money to keep Ann without problem. Tiffany has legitimate reasons to be mad at Ann and she shouldn’t just ignore them for the sake of her oblivious father. Ann has belittled and insulted her at every turn and she has a right to still be mad at that. She should start by telling her father she’s upset her room was changed. Tom has a big house and Ann could have picked any other room to remodel.

Not that I believe this will be the end of the Tiffany/Ann/Tom, and Les arcs, there is so much that can still be plumbed, and I look forward to seeing what might happen. But I think this is an example of growth on Tiffany’s part, with hilarity ensues in the funny response of Les. I think it’s a good thing on both their parts, They need to go on with their lives, they cannot do anything serious about their parents.

If she wants to grow up, the first step will be to pick up all of Ann’s belongings off the lawn. I’m not sure I agree with Luann about her father and Ann. Has she sat him down and told him what she knows about Ann in a mature manner? Whether he chooses to believe her or not is up to him, but it will be an educated decision. Luann would have to make it clear that it would not affect her behavior towards Ann going forward and no more will be said about it.

Tiffany goes through waves of self growth and realization; I think we are currently at the peak of wave 3. What’s really good this time is that she has arrived there on her own, without mentoring by others (it’s summer and for the 1st time in a long time she’s home alone). We may get little snippets here and there about Tom and Ann but, by and large, it is all about Tiff, Les and their ability to grow and move on. At first I thought Les was doing better (this week) but clearly Tiff has pulled ahead. I think we can conclude that the clothes have been retrieved from the yard and put back, that Tiff has found a room to sleep in and that she will spend the rest of the summer summer working at the Fuse and and considering her course of study at Mooney.

I know what bothers (and has for years now) me so much about this storyline. Ann Eiffel is an abuser who separates her SO from his family by lying. She’s also a felon. So if the resolution is “we must grow up because my dad is happy” and be all okay with her because she’s (allegedly) pregnant. I’ll probably take a pass on this comic going forward. But I’m open for it taking a realistic turn about confronting abusers and not letting them get away with their crimes.

I have an uneasy feeling that this is a way to keep Ann as a recurring main or secondary character and that as time goes by her crimes/faults will be minimized, and she will never pay for anything she’s done. She’ll just be an irritating stepmother.

Ann is doing what she can to make him like her now, but once she has everything secure I guarantee she’ll turn on him, probably divorce him as fast as possible and take as much of his money as she can. That’s why she cares so much about how much Tiff spends, she wants him to have as much money as he can when she takes it from him in the divorce.

My favorite line: I may grow older, but I refuse to grow up. My second favorite line is: Even a cheap laugh is better than no laugh at all. For those with growing impairment (I am 72) Collect coins, collect stamps, collect Army patches, write your memoirs or autobiography and offer it to a library with a collections department, teach a kid how to use a Yo-Yo, etc. As you age, certain opportunities fade, but others appear. I’ve only known a few people with no opportunities. My aunt was one. Some neuro-muscular disorder gradually robbed her of all her ability to move, though her mind remained alert, trapped in a body that didn’t function at all. Other than that kind of situation, figure out what you can do, and do it.

Play the long game, Tiffany and Les. Eventually Anne Awful will show her true colors and Tom will see who she really is. Unfortunately, a lot of people (cartoon and otherwise) will get hurt along the way. That’s how it goes with anti-social individuals. They don’t get better at being human, but they do get better at hiding how they hurt others. Sometimes you just have to walk away in order to protect yourself.

It took a moment for me to realize it was Tiffany who suggested they grow up. But, you know what? I’m proud of her.
Ann Eiffel is an evil person who takes great pleasure in hurting anyone she feels is beneath her. Tom is rich, so of course she will shower him with love and affection. Tiffany, however, is not just an inconvenient (being his daughter), but was also smart enough to know how she was scamming customers with fake lingerie. Ann will do everything in her power to hurt Tiffany. The worst part of this is that Tom Farrell is more than willing to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to how Tiffany is suffering. He loves Ann… and that’s all that really matters to him.
Tiffany spent her childhood relying on her father’s money. Now it’s time for her to spread her wings and leave the nest. She may not have a head for business, but she does have a knack for nails, hair and skin.
While she has the mansion to herself, she should focus on earning money from the Fuse and saving for a nice, small apartment. With luck, once Tom and Ann arrive, she’ll be able to just say goodbye and drive off, leaving Tom to deal with Anne’s need for greed.
Meanwhile, Tiffany can focus on enrolling in cosmetology courses, where she will become a top student. She can then work as a beautician in a spa, and one day start her TiffasNails.
The less she thinks about Tom and Ann, the better off she’ll be. It will be up to Tom Farrell to pry himself away from Ann if he wants to bond with his daughter again.

Tiffany’s dad has never been much of a father to her and Les lost his father at an early age and only had Uncle Al as his father figure. And let’s face it and is never going to win any mother of the Year Awards. However Tiffany realizes that she wants her father to be happy and that is growth and less realized that he could possibly love and care for an another sibling. And that is growth so maybe there is hope for them yet

…Ann’s not simply Daddy’s annoying girlfriend. She is outright abusive to almost every person she knows, including her own son Les. In fact, Les and Tiffany bonded over this very fact (January 24 2018), and given what we’ve seen of how she treats Tiffany there is no reason to believe she wouldn’t be an abusive mother to her too. And that’s not even getting into the way she intimidated and harassed her employees back when she managed a fast food place.
Why’s the onus on her victims to “grow up”? It’s not Tiffany and Les who are the issue here (though Les’s suggestion to raise the baby themselves is… well-intentioned but impulsive), it’s Ann herself. A person like her rarely makes a turnaround, and even if she WANTED to atone it isn’t her victims’ job to guide her down the road of enlightenment. The only reasonable thing Tiff CAN do is cut her out of her life, and if her father continues to side with someone who’s caused so much harm to others including his own daughter, then she may have to consider cutting him out of her life, too.
Easier said than done, of course, because Tiffany loves her father dearly and cares about his feelings. She clearly doesn’t WANT to lose him. He needs to be considerate of her, though, and not associate with people that belittle her endlessly. Besides, she’s economically insecure with a small support network, so where would she stay if she cut herself off? With Les (and a baby)? With the DeGroots? She has options, but it’s going to be a difficult step for her to take, financially and emotionally.
Tiffany’s come a long way, though. I hope this really is building up to her and Les getting away from someone that’s constantly hurt them, and not building up to them smiling and nodding just to keep family harmony.
