This appears to be a segue into another thread. But will this thread weave back into the Gunther-Bets arc? Hard to say right now. GnK may just leave Gunther hanging for awhile!
I wonder what she wrote about her dinner for two? There were lessons to be learned there; I wonder if she discussed both what went right and what went wrong?
That was the most expensive âAâ Tiffany has ever got She spent over $300 t0 demonstrate her business plan, With that kind of ROI (return on investment) Sheâll be bankrupt by (checks notesâŠ) last week.
OK, it looks like Leslie has told Ox who will tell Tiffany tomorrow who will get herself all dolled up to visit the moping Gunther and âŠ. dun him for the $300 that Bets skipped out on.
/s
Nah, she just get Gunther in a compromising position just as Bets walks in
Iâm seeing someone burying the hatchet, and calling Bets with a âthank you,â only to find that Bets has gone âM.I.A.â
Oh.
If You back to the âstudying arc,â Bets mentions that sheâs never been anywhere and Tiffany suggests a trip to Paris. (Bets wanted to go to Japan)
Could there be an all expenses paid âbestiesâ overseas road trip for Bets in the future? Or at the very least, a for real romantic pirate dinner at the Farrell mansion?
Good for Tiffany. I presume she did her report of TTFT-2. And fortunately for her, she had access to daddyâs money in order to absorb the loss from TTFT-1.
I wonder if Tiff plans to try to make TTFT a real venture. If so she could use some help with marketing her product over the interwebs.
Ah, it appears that in spite of everything we saw on-panel, Tiffanyâs business model was a success. An outcome achieved by author mandate rather than a logical progression of events. I wish we all had the power of Deus ex Machina on our side. Or should we call it Deus ex Profita?
Still though, itâs nice to see Tiffany get a win. Those are rare for her, and as boneheaded as the idea was, she did work hard at it.
Yes, it was a project. Who knows why people thought she was opening an actual business. And it looks like Bets has never met, and filed a complaint, with Tiffanyâs professorâŠwho probably doesnât even like pirates!
Maybe having seen the A, TJ begins scheming a business with Tiff. Managing at The Fuse might be becoming unchallenging. TJ likes to experiment with food and Tiff has the business sense and creativity. HmmmâŠ.Maybe he hands over the managing to Ox or Les and moves on to a new endeavor.
It appears that Tiffâs microeconomics prof liked Tiffâs business model better than Bets did. However, Tiff and her coworkers know enough among them to figure out how badly the trial run went for Gunther. Specifically, Tiff and Ox saw Bets departing angrily with Gunther in tow, and Les knows that Gunther has been am emotional wreckâand that Bets has been incommunicadoâfor weeks, starting from when Gunther returned home on the night of the planned âromantic dinner.â
Will the gang at The Fuse talk among themselves and put the pieces together? Iâll go out on a limb and predict they will.
Will any of them try to do something about it? And, if so, what? I donât know. Guess Iâll just stay âtooned and wait to find out.
Awwww. Finally! Tiffany has proof that sheâs on the right path of study and that she is capable of doing something of value. After all her troubles following college courses and her big fight with Bets she got an A of her idea and she wants to share it with the friends who helped her. This could be one of the happiest moments in her life âĄ. Well deserved âĄ. I wonder if she will call Bets for say her âIN YOUR FACE!â.
If you run a great seafood restaurant and a customer comes in and is mad that you donât have hot dogs on the menu it can still be a great seafood restaurant. Thatâs what happened here. She wasnât being graded on the restaurant but on the concept for a new business and how she market it.
She was probably graded on the fact that she did in fact pull everything off â the decor, the dinner, etc. It was Betsâ decision to leave.
And Tiffany may have had to simply submit her business plan instead of actually taking about implementing it. That was Betsâ idea so she could put it on the internet.
It actually was in my elementary school. E for Excellent. E,G,F,U. Excellent, Good, Fair, Unsatisfactory. Drove my mother crazy: âWhy did they change it, when itâs the same thing?â
Thatâs great for her. Did she do this entirely on her own, with perhaps TJ & Oxâs help? Where, if at all, dies this possibly swing around to Bets and/or Gunther? Need to ride this arc to see, to early for me to predict. But it is good she got an A, she needs affirmation.
hereâs a possible set of events that will lead Ox, Les (and others) to better understanding of Guntherâs woes. (1) Tiff explains what happened between her and Bets (2) Luann walks in (maybe later) and says that she and Bern found Gunther slone in the parking lot of Weenie World in after Bets abandoned him; G may have told all of this to Les but coming from someone else puts it into persepctive. Also, we need to know if Bets is still in contact with Tiff. Will Tiff , Ox and TJ do round 2 of the romantic dinners as they suggested?
Once upon a time, when things were more fun, there was Tiffany. Tiff, the best bimbo in town, whose arsenal for world conquest included only make up, cleavage, and the delusion that she was a star waiting to be discovered. What a sad world it has become with no spotlight and no red carpet.
Iâve admittedly been out of college for a looonnngg while (Iâm almost 72), but from what I recall, most of the âtheory ofâ type papers I turned in explained how I would do a certain thing. Not how I actually did it and what the results were. So if Tiffany turned in a paper just summarizing her concept and didnât report on what happened when customers (Gunther and Bets) arrived, then Tiffany most likely fulfilled the requirements of her class. And Iâm not sure why posters are thinking that Tiffany will show the paper to Bets; if Bets has âvanishedâ, how would that happen?
Having an over-exaggerated grin, and saying âEEEEEEEEEEEEâ was what our family used to do with our Weimaraner, and not just when the dog got an âAâ on a project.
I know thereâs a ton of COVID cabin-fever out there causing people to spend inordinate amounts of time on the internet, but for crying out loud people ⊠give it a rest! Over-analyzing Tiffanyâs âbusiness planâ efforts and her grade wonât bring you one iota closer to resolving the Gunther/Bets questions.
I am very pleased on several fronts here today for Tiffany:
1. She did not get flustered or self-doubting after Betsâ unfortunate behaviorâŠ. and still wrote out and submitted her marketing/dining concept for her classâŠ. and did very well!!!!!
2. She is showing enthusiasm for her college work, which is truly one of the most important attributes to have to drive success in college.
3. The pleasure/relief/joy/excitement she is displaying in the last panelâŠ. so very nice to see on Tiffanyâs face. That sort of expression has been extremely scant for her of late.
* *
Other thoughts:
a) I also like having TJ shown todayâŠ. very nice. Even though his role is (at least currently minor) it is nice to see him, and also see his happiness for Tiffanyâs success.
b) I like that Ox makes a âsort-of-vocabularyâ type joke today. It is nice to see him being portrayed with a gentle humor to match his empathetic nature.
c) So, it leads to the question⊠what will happen next? Will Tiffany be informed about Guntherâs plight and she will go visit him? Will perhaps both Tiffany and Ox go visit him? Might even TJ tag along? Or⊠will we simply be segueing into a story arc at and about âThe FuseââŠ. and leave Guntherâs story to continue to simmer for a while longer?
Hereâs another aspect to consider. Tiffany must have known Bets and Gunther were going to show up dressed as pirates. Had she included pictures of her pirate-garbed clients enjoying high class fine dining in her write up, thereâs no way she would have gotten an A. Not in a course in Marketing.
Good for you, Tiffany! So whatâs next? Will the business plan be implemented? For those doubters, her business plan went well, successful dinner, nice music, proper romantic atmosphere; it was Betsâs plan that went wrong according to Bets. Is this the moment TJ mentions Gunther and Bets leaving and then Les enters or Ox says Guntherâs in a funk? So many ways this can go. But I would like to see Tiffany get her business going.;-)
A proposal. On the evening of the Disputed Dinner, the reality is that what was done, was done. Tiff didnât have the ability to just switch everything to pirates. She spent money and time to put on the sophisticated and romantic French dinner. Her client and date march in as cosplay pirates, and client is unhappy. What to do now?
Tiff could have played along and tried to meet them halfway. âFine! Be pirates having a classy mealâ just drips with contempt. She had a GREAT idea and just needed to SELL IT properly.
Tiff could have set a scene⊠emphasize the link between the French and New Orleans. The governor and his wife are having a ball, and their rich friends are all in attendance. Meanwhile, they are unaware of a pirate ship, anchored just out of cannon range. A skiff is rowed in the dark, unseen and unheard by the garrison. Fearsome pirates, with plunder on their mind, beat down the doors. The party attendees gasp. The governor and his wife hastily flee out a side door. The pirates, accustomed to only hard tack and rum, are astonished by the food at the table. Theyâd NEVER tasted anything like that before! The hostess, fearing for her life, offers the pirates a dining experience fit for a governor. (snaps fingers at harpist. Harpist switches to âYo ho, a Pirateâs Life For Meâ).
See? With a little imagination, both sides could âwinâ. The money was already spent, the staff hired and the food prepared. Make the most of it and transfigure it into the Ultimate Pirate Experience.
The assignment was to create a concept for marketing class, not necessarily a full business plan and certainly not a test run. She could have used what she learned from the disastrous event to improve her concept and marketing plans for it without claiming that her test run went well.
"Her âbusiness projectâ. That thing where she brings people to her McMansion and serves them a meal they donât want, prepared by people she doesnât pay (and she didnât get paid either). That got an âAâ. Uh huh."
Tiffâs concept was very sound but her initial execution stunk. The fan base may have turned against Bets on that fateful strip but she was right about how that evening went.
Itâs all for naught; Bets is a vehicle for Guntherâs growth. Eventually, she will be put on a bus alongside Aaron Hill, Delta, Pru, Oz, Tara and Rosa. Eventually, G-&-K will explore Tiff stiffled romantic feelings towards Gunther. My money is on Tiff-&-Gunther becoming an item in the future.
So there seems to be some disagreement about pirates and fine dining. Pirates were rich. They had lavish tastes. They drank the best rum and wine to be had. They plundered jewels and gold but they also stole shipments of fine foods and other delicacies. Their banquet tables would have made the King of England blush. Bets however, on the night in question, showed up looking like a deck hand. Gunther actually looked more pirate elite. They could have agreed to dine fine, dressed accordingly and had a great night. But no. So good for Tiffany getting the A!
We likely wonât see Professor Fabbi on the comic telling Tiffany something like, âI know youâve struggled a lot before, but you really focused and did well! Good job!â
True, it could have been a different business class, but as others noted, Tiff NEEDED this affirmation â which ever class it was! ⊠I hope she actively shares this victory with her father! ⊠:)
A business plan that wouldnât work unless her dad owned a mansion doesnât seem like a âAâ to me. Or using friends for staff either. I guess she could rent some place out and hire people, but that would cut into profits.
A plan around her experience with high end clothes shopping seems more in line with her personality to me. Purchasing agent for a big clothing company or something along those lines.
Gunther would know who Nancy DeGroot is because (a) he crushed on Luann while in high school and it would be very unlikely that he never went near enough to her house to occasionally see her parents; (b) Gunther, like many of the other characters, goes to The Fuse and sees Nancy working there; and, as an observant individual, Gunther could figure out who she is because she looks like her daughter.
Nancy DeGroot would know who Gunther is because most good parents make themselves aware of people their children associate with.
Sorry to have pushed your button. I forgot that since you have anger against Irma and usually attribute most of Guntherâs problems to her âbad parentingâ, that you would not be at all favorably disposed toward another characterâs mother.

I canât believe that most of todayâs discussion was almost identical to that right after Tiffâs dinner a month or so ago.

@Mordock:
