Awwwwww⊠Poor Luann wonât be getting that call any time soon.
.
Iâm still sort of amazed Frank never said that Puddles was on the lap of a cheerleader, or at least mention that âthe ladyâ had a big bow in her hair.
One would think that Luann would have learned by now, that one may be waiting a long, long time for someone to âdo the right thing.â
And someone needs to tell Frank that the next time he sees his âpropertyâ get in some strangers car without a darn good explanation, he might want to start either asking questions and/or getting the license number of the car.
Do ANYTHING but watch that stranger drive off into the sunset.
Well, hereâs Puddlesâs âuselessâ owner, according to the person who made that insensitive remark yesterday.
Clue to this person: a âuselessâ owner doesnât lose sleep over her missing pet. Some people really are being insensitive toward Luann at this time.
Poor Luann! Sheâs harboring the false illusion that the person who picked up Puddles is a sensible, responsible, compassionate person who is doing all they can to reunite the dog with his rightful owner.
Luann, I know it is hard worrying about Puddles. Like your mom said, everyone is alseep and all the vet offices are closed. Checking for a chip is not an emergency to take him to a 24 hours vet. If you want to keep busy, call the 24 hour emergency animal hospital to see if anyone came in for chip check or turn in a lost dog. Feel useful rather than being in bed staring at your phone.
1. How does Nancy know whoever found Puddles is going to take him to a vet in the morning?
2. I love the third panel, it looks absolutely amazing with all of that black, and those minimal highlights being illuminated by Luannâs phone screen. Very visually appealing.
What I would like to see tomorrow is Luann to wake up to a knock on the door and find Tiffany there holding puddles. Then Saturday Tiffany can explain how she know who Puddles is.
And how is âthe ladyâ going to call Luann if Puddles had no tag? (I guess the family is assuming the person is bright enough to take the dog to a vet for check-up or tag search⊠We continue to perpetuate the stereotype of cheerleaders not being very bright.)
Powerful strip. Amazing work from both Greg Evans and the Sheriff in the last panel. You can really feel all of Luannâs sadness and concern. Anyone who has a dog that one day runs away can relate so much to her âĄ.
Iâm surprised that Luann hasnât posted on social media or at least to her friends that Puddles is lost. These days, everyone shares everything on social media. I would think that at least Tiffany is friend enough to be one of her contacts.
So Luann really does care about Puddy. What kind of dog is Puddles? Wasnât there a strip where Luann drew a portrait of Puddles in art class and he looked like a real dog?
A good Thursday piece setting us up for the eventual reunion and ânew friends and old acquaintancesâ scene. Nicely done by GnK. Luannâs showing great remorse over Puddles. As for Frank, very human. He didnât know Puddles was MIA when he drove by and when you consider driving at residential speed limits (say 25 mph) seeing something for maybe 5 seconds where a young lady is putting a dog into a car that looks like your dog when you know your dog is at home or with your daughter youâre not going to take detailed notes or stop and demand the return of said dog.
wrong approach Luann (Nancy too). Reach out and do the things one would normally do when a pet is lost. Put signs with pictures up everywhere. Call everyone in the area you know with the information. Passively waiting is not the way.
Get off your duff and start making / posting flyersâŠyeah not one or two, but LOTS and how about using this social media stuff that seems to be so popular?
Frank said he seen Puddles in someones car not a dog that looked like Puddles. He was on the womanâs lap. Kind hard to see whats on anyone lap looking from car to car, bus or big truck yes! Puddles is small so he would have to be standing on someones lap looking out the window. In every discussion about Puddles he donât back away from the fact he seen Puddles. It looked like, might have been, may not have been or anything similar was not mentioned, He seen Puddles and stayed with it!
Iâm still trying to figure out the Luann message for this particular story. Remind people of their pain when they lost a pet? Take better care of the things we love? Pay more attention to those we care about? Donât take our pets for granted? Use a leash? It just all feels so heavy and sad. I like the art in this comic and enjoy the comments, it gives me a creative moment to post a comment (or a rant), but I am really hoping this is resolved by Saturday. If not we may well see Luann in the future, still sitting at home looking at her phone and recognizing Puddles as he rides in the Mayors car in the Founders Day Parade, or seeing him being hailed as a hero for finding a lost child, or maybe Puddles being recognized by local law enforcement for busting a big drug ring or even possibly the star of a new TV series called Proud Hound?
Luann, if you are going to stare at your cell phone screen all night do something constructive, e.g. send a picture of Puddles to everyone you know (that would include Tiff) and announce that he is lost. You can ask each friend to pass it along to their friends.
So sheâs not gonna do anything except sit around and hope someone else solves her problem for her? Luann is the literal opposite of Liam Neeson from Taken. Even Brad did something when he thought Shannon was missing; sure, tearing down the walls of his house may not have been the best move, but he was still pro-active about the situation.
This will be one case where Berniceâs nosiness actually benefits someone. Thereâs no way the girls in the dorm wonât cross paths with her and mention that theyâve got a new dog, and she wonât put two and two together and tell Luann. In any case Luannâs circle overlaps with theirs so much itâs only a matter of time till somebody makes the connection.
Whoa whoa whoa, Miss Lippy. The part of the story I donât like is that the little boy gave up looking for Happy after an hour. He didnât put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited. That little boyâs gotta think âYou got a pet. You got a responsibility.â If your dog gets lost you donât look for an hour then call it quits. You get your ass out there and you find that fucking dog.
I donât have a pet, so Iâm not really sure how easy it is to lose one but I assume if she had watched him as closely as sheâs watching the phone right now, she wouldnât have lost him.
Stefani Bird was driving a full size sedan that you associate with older people. Puddles was walking on the sidewalk looking sad. Stefani assumed that Puddles was a runaway canine who fled from its owner. The strip is going to milk this storyline for a long time. Maybe the strip needs more of Shannonâs antics?

That last panel is over-the-top.
We need to remember that it was designed for black-and-white, where it would be just as effective.
Nevertheless, Iâm with others, I donât see how this arc wraps up by Saturday.
Only that the dog was found by people who know Luann (Bets, Dez, and especially Tiffany) gives us any promise that the dog will be returned.
But clearly, G&K are making it clear that they are in no particular hurry to do it!
