Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Puddles… go outside if you have to do that! lol I hope the story is more involved than just people trimming the tree. Christmas is 6 days away. It seems a little late to be just starting to decorate your tree.
Hmmm.. I wonder if the Glassman ever got around to repairing Stef’s crack? LOL
This year, we added 3 more trees, making a total of 35 Christmas trees in the house upstairs and down. Not counting any of them that are less than 2 feet tall. Our tallest is 12 feet, and it rotates. We have several 10 footers, several 9 footers, a lot of 7 footers, some 6 footers, a number of slim trees, an upside – down tree, a Sugaro cactus tree, two palm trees on a single base decorated in beach stuff, many “themed” trees like one all in purple for our bitsko basketball team, the Sacramento Kings, one for the San Francisco 49’ers, another for the Oakland Traitors, I mean, Las Vegas Raiders, one for the San Francisco Giants, also a huge, wide tree with all movie, TV show, and cartoon characters, a Star Wars tree, a Star Trek tree, and a trilogy of bright rainbow trees – two that are 5 feet tall and the center one is 7 1/2 feet tall, and many others. One that I added this year is 9 feet tall, has crystal – like frost on the tip ends, and has pine cones and red berries on it with a star on top that is made of twigs laced together with jute – simple and elegant. It looks great without any other balls or decorations on it. One of our 4 foot trees is encased in a large plexiglass case where small styrofoam pellets are sucked up at the bottom and blown out through the top of the tree, making it look like the tree is in a snow storm. There is even a control to make the “snowstorm” lighter or heavier.
Anyhoo, we usually start the setup the weekend after Thanksgiving, and it was all up by last night, working on it here and there. We generally leave it up until the third week of January, which happens to coincide with me finishing pruning our 80+ rosebushes in our gardens outside. Then, it takes about 2 weeks to get it all down and put away. The Christmas display in the house sure makes the eyeballs pop on the young ones that come to our house. Is it worth all the work? Yeah, partly because my wife and I do not really consider it as “work”. Nuts? Yep. :)
As my dear old grandpa used to say, I’ll pitch in and do my part if you pitch in and do your part. If we don’t pitch in and do our parts, we won’t have a part to pitch in!
Puddles, NO!!! This is a Christmas tree, not your most secret wish to have your own bathroom in the house come true! On the other hand, this looks like a nice family arc, full of happiness (and without Bernice), HOORAY!
Big time jump, the Mystery of the Broken Window" arc should have still been in early October, so we missed any mention of school, Halloween, Thanksgiving.
The DeGroots Christmas theme this year seems to be toilet humor with Puddles having a pee in the tree and Nancy making Christmas cookies shaped like poop.
It’s weird seeing Brad and Toni without the brat in tow. Is it her father’s one week out of the year to watch her, lest CPS remove her from his custody altogether (like how in the US Army Paratroopers, you need to do a jump at least once every three months to keep your certification and extra pay, as I learned the hard way)?
So what happens to the week of comics that should have been run a couple weeks ago? Do they get delayed one week or cut out totally? Many comics are specific for certain days.
For those who complain about Luann having enough Luann, Luann and her family doing Christmas gift sharing should be satisfying (yes one could suppose—lol). Like the Puddles piece (pee marking). How about Bernice though/
Today’s strip has that generic “re-run” feel to it, but with all of the old-time Luann readers here, I’m sure that about 50 of you would have caught it if that were true.
In any case, I’m hoping for something a little less generic for the rest of the week.
Euuuu…really? Puddles has to puddle up the Christmas tree? Having the tree lights on in a darkened room makes it feel like sacred space. There’s just something different about the energy in the room.

Well now.
We’ve left Tiffany and the mystery of what broke that window, behind.
Perhaps, for good.
And We’ve centered on a DeGroot Family Christmas featuring Mom and Pop, Luann, Brad, and Toni.
That, should make a lot of “folks” here happy.
And while Pud is “fertilizing” that tree, maybe We should pause and ponder how Luann’s novel writing went.
And if she told Toni that Tara made a not so subtle pass at her husband.

Toni’s head looks large here, or is it just me?

Fortunately for the DeGroots, Puddles is a dog and not a cat who knocks over the Christmas tree every so often.
