Roy often sleeps attached to Barbara’s arm just like that!

It’s was a surgery for a cyst for crying out loud. After a full joint replacement like a knee they have you up and walking about in a couple of hours. Ganglion cyst surgery to the hand area is usually done with either local anesthesia or regional blockage, not general anesthesia and it should wear off after 4-6 hours. The patient should be up and about quickly after surgery.

Hand Therapy Exercises

They want you to move any and all unsplinted digits and joints as much and as often as you are able. Speed doesn’t help, but try to get the full excursion (range of motion), moving them as far as they can go. You can use your other hand to help them. Also, please move your shoulder through its full range of motion, often. We don’t want anything to get stiff.

Hand Use

It is OK to use your hand fully as much as you are able. Typing, writing, eating, and dressing are all Ok to do. You will not be able to do any strong gripping or grasping, pulling or pushing, or operating of power tools. You can’t damage or harm anything by using your fingers and hand. But it might hurt if you overuse it, so just go by how it feels.

Is it just me, or has the Woman been drawn recently as someone using an “herbal” remedy for post-surgical pain? [Strictly under the guidance of medical professionals]

Resting with cats is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

I suspect some people don’t realize just how physically exhausting even minor surgery can be. There may be no pain, but the body knows it’s been wounded, and goes into metabolic overdrive. Anesthetics prevent pain, but also add to physical stress because the body has to metabolize what it sees as mild poisons.

With all that purring, probably synchronized by now, she’ll be healing at a faster rate than without.

OT: A few purrayers and good thoughts

For the past few days I’ve been dealing with the aftermath of a cold. You know, the type of cold that leaves you with a cough even after you get over the cold. I’ve been staying at home drinking lots of tea, and it’s helped. The worst part is when my kitty is sitting on my lap and I start coughing. It annoys her no end. I’ve also tested negative for Covid.

Many cats who normally have no interest in sitting on humans love to do it when the human is sick.

Aww! They can be so sweet!

When I had my knee replaced.. my boys curled up and slept against my leg. Normally they didn’t even like sharing opposing corners of a Queen sized bed.. but here I was stuck on a twin downstairs and all three boys were there purring against my leg to help me heal.

This reminds me of “ominous positivity.” For example: You will feel better. It is inevitable.

Now that’s service. Love these cats.

That looks like a blessed, but toasty, way to rest.

It’s been 11 years since I’ve had a cold.

My bed every night. Cats on both arms and on the feet and body with a Great Dane laying full length against my back, lest he be cold.
