Well, somebody was right about the lullabye part yesterday.

Luann is living up to her reputation, all right—sleeping once again.

Luann fell a sleep by listing to the potato flute.

Luann was sent away to the land of Nod. Oh no, I hope that’s not our next arc!

Dream sequence in 3…2…1…

And the slate remains blank!

She’s all bark, and no bite!!!

Someone needs to find Link and Zelda and tell them about this.

Kind of like a guided meditation to unlock creativity…nice joke at the end! Yes, Tara is tapping away, but not everything she writes has to be great just because it comes easy for her. And maybe Luann will wake up refreshed and think of something different for her…not humor but something more thoughtful.

Luann may have a point—the world of sleep IS a wonderful place where you can escape your woes and foes.

Maybe both responses are appropriate.

Tara’s got a laptop an has moved in to th digital age. Luann’s got a paper tablet an a pencil. Th paper tablet’s got a big “O” on the front.

In the excellent movie Stalag 17, there was an American character named Joey who had snapped after witnessing his bomber crew mates get killed during a bombing run. The one thing that kept him “grounded” was his ocarina. In the movie, German Camp Sargent Schultz called it a “piccolo” but it looked like an ocarina. Certainly, Joey obtained a “replacement” carved gift ocarina after his got broken.

Crazy Joey never spoke, but “played” his ocarina at inappropriate times, like during the camp commandant’s condescending speech or during an escape attempt.

I’m surprised some schmuck hasn’t gone around annoying “folks” by playing one at a library or something, then uploading the reactions to Tik-Tok.

Then there was the case of the guy who took a harmonica to the zoo and handed it to an orangutan…….., ;-)

Talk about “blanking out”..

I was just transported to a world where this arc ends. It was …wonderful.

When my daughter was in middle school, she had one of these and was fascinated by it.

Well, we think wind flutes may go back 12,000 years. But the only thing they have in common with the instrument in today’s strip is the fact you blow in them. The instrument in today’s strip was invented in the 19th century.

She’s playing the Song of Time!

I always think of Joey from Stalag 17 when I see mention of an ocarina.

Indeed, Luann is being transported. Hard to tell if Lu is relaxed or bored.

That music must be pretty soothing if it puts Luann to sleep.

Luann: Let me try! (play ocarina) Phew, why is it suddenly hot in here… BLECK!! HOW DID I ENDED UP INSIDE A VOLCANO?!

The “Z” is key. Luann has been transported to the land o’Sleep.

Cool idea!

I have very embarrassing memories of me falling asleep in class, even at the university. It’s never nice when it happens and then you feel very awkward thinking about it. On the other hand, it’s so nice to see Luann smile with such a happy and relaxed expression!Maybe all that enthusiasm tired her, maybe that sound is way too much relaxing, maybe she thinks to have finally found her way. Let’s hope she’s dreaming, happy dreams where she’s studying circus arts in Italy or learns how to weld. Kudos to Mrs Horner for playing the instrument instead of putting on a tune. The ocarina can be truly exciting live.

And thus the slate shall ever remain blank.

Here commenceth a new Luann dream sequence…

Luann will get high marks for her dreams

All this frenzy about how to fill her blank slate and now finally Luann sleeps and she dreams of creative and productive ways to fill it. She wakes up with a direction to move in.

Well, they both got transported. I actually have an ocarina. It makes a lovely, haunting sound similar to pan pipes.

What’s B.S. redacted? Is there a steaming cow plopper under that ink?

Wow, this is like Dustin-levels of “our main character sucks” type energy here. Has any writer despised their protagonist as much as Karen Evans hates Luann?

For abut the last 30 years whenever I hear an ocarina I think of Totoro.

An ocarina always makes me think of some Disney (I think) movie when I was a kid (a long time ago) about a Mexican kid and a dancing chihuahua.
