Admiral Crackers seems quite the gentleman. But something tells me there’s still more to tell here. Like why is the Admiral not in uniform? LOL Though I can’t imagine he’ll start saying Mmm Hmmm.

She’s gonna pick up everything he knows, like the Orb’s vocabulary from previous adventures.

I find it interesting that the parrot’s tie matches the shirt of she who shall remain invisible to me. The only thing cuter than a parrot wearing a necktie was the St. Catty’s day snake wearing a necktie!

This looks very promising.

Having a talking bird would do me no good. I’ve been hard of hearing all my life and have a hearing aid and I can hear, but it’s limited. I depend on being able to read lips. I can’t read beak…that’s a whole other area not covered on my lip reading skills. Unless I have Burt helping me….lol.

Does anyone know what type of parrot he is?

I’m sure he will make a great reporter for the Breaking Bird News.

I’m afraid my screen suffered another blurry malfunction this morning, although not as bad as we’ve had in recent weeks. Georgia’s back-and forth dialogue, where Admiral crackers “parrots back” each phrase like an echo, leads one to believe it’s all repetition with no comprehension. And then suddenly the last phrase is uniquely sincere and heartfelt. The feelings of happiness and relief when finding a new friend becomes especially poignant for those who have felt isolated.

I bet her husband thanks the parrot, now that his wife has someone else to talk to!

I’m still holding out for Mr. Tidy to be a redeemable character. He may be grieving in his own way for Lord P. Worst case scenario: he learns some new phrases from the Admiral. Best cast scenario: 3-way happiness and exchange of one-liners all around. (Maybe he’ll donate a tie or two to Crackers’ wardrobe…)

Never saw a bird wear a tie, before. It gives him an air of “classy”.

Taking care of a bird is MUCH different than a dog or cat. Hope she’s ready.

And she has a husband and she’s still lonely? Maybe start working on that marriage.

I thought all parrots could do is repeat, but this one seems to hold a conversation. Then again, that might just be Georgia’s artistic license. This seems to be working.

The Admiral doesn’t just parrot. In the 2nd panel, he correctly used the 2nd Person instead of the 1st Person.

There are some loose ends still dangling. Where are Gutter and the girls? Where is Li’l Starfish Squeaker?

Harbor Master Antef: Permission granted! Permission to come aboard, Captain!

Captain Horatio: Permission granted. Now that we’ve docked, how about a cup of Kat Koffee and a biscuit?

Antef: Much obliged, Captain. What’s, up?

Captain Horatio: I’d like you to meet our newest crewmember, Lookout First Class McCaw.

Antef: Pleased to meet you, Lookout.

McCaw: Likewise.

Antef: Are you from the New World?

McCaw: Yes. I’d like to meet some of my fellow birds.

Antef: Well I know just the one. Wicket of the Temple Owls would like to meet you, I’m sure.

Captain Horatio: We can go there after we unload the cargo. And I know Navigator Ziggy wants to go see his cousin.

Syrup and glitter was hard to clean up, but that was ONCE. A scarlet macaw will poo on your floor and walls every day for sixty years. The room-sized aviary or gigantic cage must also be cleaned, of course. You’ll need a wire brush and metal paint scraper for that.

We have had small parrots. I was surprised at how cuddly and loving birds can be. But larger birds can bond to one individual and then be very territorial. Not sure about this breed.

Off to a good start, but this is just the honeymoon period

I wonder if he speaks Cat, Opossum, Mole, Dog, Mouse, Skunk, and Ferret?

Admiral Crackers will be a great mate for the lady!

This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship, but there are still concerns.

What if she is a Boston Bruins fan and he is a New York Rangers fan?

What if she likes Shakespeare and he believes the plays were all written by Marlowe?

What if she’s a Beatles fan and he thinks they are the most overrated band ever?

Can they work it out? Stay tuned.

Strange foreshadowing…on June 16, when he rescued the Chickadee eggs, a very young Gutter was shown wearing a box that said “Animal Crackers.” Two Chickadee eggs and one “Easter Egg” in this eggs-cellent strip.

Mrs. Tidy will definitely need a course in how to care for Admiral Crackers. She’ll also need to understand that her house will never be tidy again.

Will Sophie recover from her harrowing experience, or will Stockholm syndrome set in and she returns to Tidy Lady?

Will Thomas and Sophie realize that life is short and remind people that “If the cat tree is rocking, don’t come knocking?”

Will Gutter receive the recognition he deserves, or will the annals of time pass him by and his effort be forgotten?

Will the robber mice go into the glitter business and make a fortune, or will they continue with their sneaky ways?

Will Destry and the Rumba fall in love and have talking vacuum cleaners?

Will we ever get out of this story line that has been going on for SIXTY SIX DAYS NOW? (Sophie fell out of the window on June 3rd)

Tune in at this same time tomorrow for the answer to these and other meaningless questions, on AS THE LITTER BOX TURNS.

I can’t tell if TW is older or has blonde hair. If she’s older, I hope she sets up a plan for when she dies. (that husband won’t take care of the bird) and it will end up back a the shelter. I think parrots can live a long time.

Well looks like the Admiral is really chatty

I really hope Admiral Crackers can do more than just mimic the things he hears; the Tidy couple might be amused, but I want to hear more about him (or is it “her”?); I mention that because with parrots and some other birds, it can be really hard to tell without an invasive exam. I recall all of us at the Zoo Education office were quite surprised when “Moses,” a scarlet macaw very similar to Admiral Crackers laid an egg; Moses’ health records had to be updated, because up until then, she had been identified as a male.

Just as long as he isn’t like Elvis.

Friend has a Macaw. When I see the bird I ask if it wants to dance, and I start bobbing my head back and forth. Bird bobs with me. Then is SQUAWKS, loudly. Dance time is over for the visit.

Hope she’s ready for a 60-year committment…

They will keep each other company for years to come.

Not an admiral’s uniform, but a collar and tie! Wow!

It’s not that different from her attempting to talk to her husband. The main improvement is that the bird has a larger vocabulary.

shudder all I can think about in panel 2 is a Doctor Who episode I watched a while ago.

Perhaps her husband has just been worn down to the nub he is? Perhaps he suffers from attention deficit disorder where all her attention went to the home decor (that he hated) and to Lord Pomegranate ? Perhaps he has chosen his sessile chair life because she shows him zero attention? Or maybe he’s just a spineless lump? Or a robot… Only time and GD will tell…

Wow – Love that last panel, Georgia! I like the direction this is headed. :-)
