Bernice’s role in this strip is to be a buzzkill. She really earned her money today. She needs to be roadkill.

I think the fans are being snarked here. “I liked you better when you were the other you” is something someone on this comment board could easily have written and probably did…multiple times.

I have no doubt that every year Bernice’s resolution is to always be ready to tell Luann that everything she says is wrong, so as to make her doubt what she does and prevent Luann from healing from her low self-esteem. Luann’s resolution was good and sincere and she immediately attacked it!

Bernice’s resolution should be to keep her big mouth shut and enforce it with duct tape!

Resolutions sometimes have slippery slopes.

Ugh, are we still on this New Year’s resolution thing? Every year it’s the same thing and Luann never follows through and never learns a thing. At least with Christmas stories they vary a little (like when they went to the cabin and got snowed in.) But with New Year’s it’s just the exact same thing every single year; no wonder Greg used this time to go on vacation.

G&K would be wise to just stop mentioning resolutions at all; leave them in the dust like they did with Aaron Hill and Crystal/Knute.

Why does Luann even stay friends with Bernice? Bernice does nothing but tear her down.

I suspect she should have chosen to follow the advice of the career test and changed her major from counseling to law school. She loves being argumentative. The only problem is I’m not sure she’s good at lying.

32 Years ago, I made a New Year’s Resolution that I have never broken.

I resolved to never again make a New Year’s Resolution.This made it simple, truly simple.

Of all the characters that have come and gone in this strip, if Bernice were to disappear today, I would not miss her one bit.

I like Bernice. She helps Luann stay reality-based (as much as possible considering it’s Luann), and she is Luann’s best friend.

The Count seriously does not get all the Bernice Hate and Haters. The Count likes her. She’s kind of the Ethel Mertz of the strip.

Bernice’s resolution should be to “be less annoying.”

Bernice simply pointed out the silliness and unnecessary complexity of her “resolution”. I’m not a fan of resolutions, unless you keep them to yourself! If you want to improve yourself do so quietly and methodically. When you talk too much about it you set yourself up for failure.

They are both not all about the simple. I would be right there with them in the hole.

I used to have a friend like Bernice. Used to. I wised up about 40 years ago and cut contact.

Reminds me of the debate where the question was “why are you here?” and by the time the buzzer went off neither side had yet resolved what “here” meant.

Resolutions are silly, and talk of them proves people care too much about what’s said by others in all sorts of mediums. Be present, life takes care of itself! Peace, have a good week folks !
