Itâs like Magat brains are stuck in the phase three-year-old children go through, where they always say the opposite of whatever the adults tell them.
The first thing my wife and I thought of when we read this strip was flat Earth advocates. Then I thought about pretty much every conspiracy theory ever.
Politicians seem to learn new way to speak when they arrive in their elected positions: âInvestingâ (Spending), âIâll look into thatâ (I donât know), âThe data will showâ (the numbers will be massaged), âI support my colleagueâŠâ (I made a deal to benefit my district), and so on and so forth.
I can understand why so many billionaires and millionaires are donating millions to Trump for his inauguration â the only color he is interested in is green and they want to be noticed favorably. But what I canât understand is why it should cost so much. [Is the money being used to buy and hawk the made-in-China inauguration souvenirs?] Also, given the common-personâs view of the economy today, why arenât people just a tad bit upset at the expense? And, what happens to any left-over money?
Neanderthals did not go extinct; more or less, they were folded into the homosapien genome. However, you can still see the primitive, knuckle-dragging presence of Neanderthalâs latent DNA in todayâs modern world. The current iteration of Neanderthal wears a red hat, they are uninformed, they vote against their interests, and they support self-absorbed convicted criminal for President.
And, get thisâthese modern-day room-temperature I.Q. Neanderthals actually think the criminal they put in office will work to help them! This would be incredibly funny, if it werenât so tragic.
âIf you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself. â Joseph Goebbels, and Karine Jean-Pierre, gaslighting specialists.
The Afghan pullout was a success. [If it wasnât, it was Trumpâs fault.]
White Supremacy is âthe most dangerous terrorist threatâ to the American homeland.
[If I think that I posted this list earlier today and that it disappeared, it was just my imagination. It did not really happen. I must be delusional.]
I hope everybody commenting on this strip has noticed that the red-hat crowd itself can never point to a single thing they like about Donald J. Trump, or any of his accomplishments, and certainly not any of his memorable stirring rhetoric (âAsk not what your country can do for you, ask what you all can do for me me me me me!â). All they can do is spout âTDS TDS TDSâ all day long, as if thatâs some kind of irrefutable discussion-ender. To give them what little credit theyâre due, if thatâs all theyâve got, itâs what theyâre stuck with.
This is the part where you expect members of one party/ideology to say todayâs strip represents the failings of the other party/ideology. I like to think of todayâs strip as non-partisan.
Gaslighting is when person A gets person B to believe something false is true in defiance of what person B directly experiences, so that person A benefits. Here we have person B believing that something isnât true in defiance of person Bâs own direct experience, to person Bâs own detriment, while person A tries to help person B while gaining no benefit. This isnât gaslighting at all.
Some people believe that an argument is the same as a conversation. I tried to tell my curmudgeon of a father-in-law that the sun set in the west and he replied âNot necessarilyâ. How do you argue with such a moron?

PETRUCHIO
I say it is the moon.
KATHARINA
I know it is the moon.
PETRUCHIO
Nay, then you lie: it is the blessed sun.
KATHARINA
Then, God be blessâd, it is the blessed sun:
But sun it is not, when you say it is not;
And the moon changes even as your mind.
What you will have it named, even that it is;
And so it shall be so for Katharina.
