I read about a study once comparing the behavior of dogs and wolves. When presented with a clear box with food inside, the wolves would try brute force and persist for a long time. The dogs would try a time or two, and then look for the nearest human and approach them to open the box.
Lol! My mom’s cat, Babyface, literally just did that me! She led me to the food bag and did her cute little singing/dancing, routine! Soooooo cute…can’t look away…must give in…
With Goldie’s expertise in opening windows (or, finding openings near windows) I was expecting a different outcome. But of course, Goldie knows how to work the system!
We have a rescue cub, about 8mo old, in our house now. We’ve had him since he was 3 or 4 weeks old. He is an excellent mimic and is learning everything he can from our older cats, especially about manipulating us people.
Is there a thread for posts about/for our LA members to check in? If so could someone point me to which day it’s on? So worried for everyone out there.
I’m thinking maybe this should be a daily feature for the time being. Props to @prairiedogdance for the idea…
Sending metric bonkers’ worth (not to mention water bomber loads) of HUGGZ & PURRRRRRRRRRRRZ & prayers & good vibes to all our SoCal Orbsters & their friends/relations in the area…please let us know how you’re doing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The way the kittens are on the kibble container reminds me of a cat my local comic store had. Mojo would do that to a popcorn tin, using the law of the lever totally to his own disadvantage. Then again, Mojo would eat any food left unattended.
Gracie got to play the cat of opportunity tonight. I spilled what was left of a bowl of beef stew on the floor tonight and she was Johnny on the spot to help clean it up. As I was thinking, this would be a great time to have a dog…..Gracie stepped up and said “hold my catnip, I got this!” She is puppy like at times though with her being constantly underfoot. I still had to scrub the floor, but her efforts were greatly appreciated. Who knew House Panthers like beef stew? She’d never acted the least bit interested in it before. But it’s not something I’d normally offer her.

Goldie steps in and shows her feminine, feline wiles. Present in all cats, but in females….doubly so.

I did NOT think of that method. Seven has me trained to give her treats when she comes back in the house.

I can vouch for the inability of the typical cat person to resist cute. We are putty in their paws.

The Beatles: If I Fell
If I unlocked the kibble bin
Would the contents from within
Be available to eat?
For it’s almost ten am
And I must eat soon again
Oh, please where are my treats?
…….
If I have to wait
Oh please, please don’t make me wait
I have not had food
Since quarter after eight!
…….
Everything I’ve tried
So far, has met with no success
No crowbar to pry,
Or saw available, alas
I need kibble right away
And I would be sad if I must wait
The whole day!
…….
Goldie: So I hope you see that I
Would love some kibble
And that she, Woman
Will give in right away
Kibble’s coming, no delay!

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At Floofnet the Joyous’ Culinary School
Patrice Possum: G’Day, mates. What can I do you for?
Blade Sabre Tooth: Howdy, ‘Trice. We’re here delivering cheese from where we tell not.
Patrice: Always good to see you. And I see you’ve brought your two mates.
Sabre Tooth: Yes, I’m Smiley, and this is Don.
Don: A pleasure.
Patrice: Well now, make yourselves comfortable and I’ll go fetch Floofnet.
Sometime Later
Floofnet: What a lovely selection of cheese. You’ll stay to supper, won’t you?
Blade: What do you say, guys?
Smiley: I always like a good cheese dish. Although meat is my favorite.
Floof: Not a problem! Just leave it to my apprentices. Where are our Procurer Friends?
Don: They said they were going to stop at Amon and Azibo’s Spice Plural shop and proceed on to Afar.
Smiley: I’m sure they won’t get into any mischief.
Floof: More likely they’ll be the mischief.
