Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus actually ceased operations in 2017. The circus has since merged with the U.S. Congress and resumed performances, with even scarier animals and clowns, in 2025. /S

Sometimes when you look around and you see what “normal” seems to be, it may be best to say, “If this is normal, I choose to be abnormal.”

Sadly, all those people who thought they were fighting for ‘freedom’ will soon realize that they are not people, just consumers. This didn’t start with the SC ruling about corporations being legal persons, but that did give it a jump-start. Focus of discussed policies and programs is not on what is good for the “us”, the people, but what is good for [big] business. The rationale being that what is good for [big] business is good for the country — the old “trickle-down” concept in new clothes.

Why should we, now the biggest oil producers in the world, have to become bigger? Not for “us” but to make corporations wealthier. Why should we impost huge tariffs on foreign goods? Not for “us” because we will either be doing without those goods or we will be paying more for them — and not just for foreign goods, but also for American goods that require foreign parts. [President Biden did start programs to encourage American factories and incentives to buy American products, but those are supposed to go away — after all they were started by a Democratic president. Why roll back regulations that are in place to protect “us” from the dangers of polluted air, polluted water, contaminated soil, contaminated food products? So businesses don’t have to spend money on cleanups.

But, you may argue, we are the “consumers” and therefore have to have jobs to earn money to consume. Sadly, I don’t think that we are the “customers” that they target. They aren’t concerned with low-income housing — the construction industry makes much more money building houses and buildings for the upper echelons. They aren’t concerned with education for everyone — just education for those who can afford to pay. We may be consumers, but I don’t think they are interested in selling us homes or having our kids in their classrooms. Unless you have a million or two to ‘donate’ .

For conformists? Oh, sure, but I’ve seen the same thing for “rebels” and “nonconformists” — they all rebel and avoid conforming in the same way, and it becomes a new establishment and way to conform.

I think it’s only insecure people who obsess over their own clothes, and how they’ll look to others. Steve Jobs always wore a black mock-turtleneck T-shirt, Levi’s 501 jeans, and a pair of New Balance sneakers. He said he had more important decisions to make every day than what to wear and implied he was saving his time and brain cells for those.

Well, I guess MS72 is promoting another pandemic kill-off of Americans under Trump. He might see it happen if a lethal variant of bird flu starts infecting people and Trump’s choices to run the departments meant to protect the general population act stupid.

Of course, the Trumpies will be cheered that the likely first victims will be immigrants involved in poultry products.

I wonder what Trump’s reaction will be when he can’t get Chicken McNuggets? — Oh right, he’ll blame Mexico or China, or both.

anyone recommend a country?

    Myanmar sounds promising.

Laos? I was there 54 years ago. TripAdvisor shows some beautiful hotels too. Vietnam? Great seafood.

For a guy who disdains “shyte-hole” countries, the orange felon sure seems determined to toss the USA on the trash heap.

If you have any $$ in the bank, cash it out, rumors are floating around that trump will freeze all accounts. You’ve been warned.

magats are dumping on Michelle Obama cause she won’t come to trump’s party. Would you leave Hawaii, to attend an a$$-kissing party in Washington DC? Not me, baby.

trump wanted John Wayne to be Sec Defense until someone told trump that John died in 1979. another choice? Chuck Connors (rifleman), sadly, also dead. Why all the good ones?
