If Piro’s siblings were THIS well behaved.. why didn’t he just leave them, with Alan in charge, for a few hours?

That 3rd panel is quite sweet. Really nice to see kids getting along. Poor Alan is setting himself up for some major heartbreak. LOL

The three M’s: moody, mysterious, and messy. You would think with a name like Piro, there would be a little more fire involved.

I’m guessing this is the most content Piro’s clan has been for a long time.

And I’m also guessing that Luann is Alan’s first crush.

LOL The twins. This gimmick could go on for years.

Not quite the bad boy syndrome, but close enough to attract attention.

Luann needs and deserves to be admired by someone older than 12 or 13 (remember Axel?).

Of course Bernice is changing her mind about Piro. He comes with 6 siblings. Now she doesn’t want him. Luann seems to be drawn to him but we know Piro doesn’t like her but his siblings do. Has all makings of a dramatic triangle.

Looking closely at the book in panel 3, I see that it’s The Bike Lesson, an actual book from the Berenstain Bears series.

If Piro’s siblings are so appealing, why is HE such a train wreck??

If Luann wants to “raise her self- esteem”, she doesn’t need to “fix” Piro, all she need to do is get away from Bernice.

Luann saved the day this time. Wore the kids out with Red Light-Green Light, then filled them with the PB&J. No wonder they’re quiet. But is Piro going to keep pulling this again?

Given a choice between another week of this and the dorm drama I’m ready for the sl*t-fest in Hall A.

I still think wavy haired brunette girl is a half sister to Bernice.

The kid with the blonde hair resemble Luann and the girl with freckles resemble Tara?

Alan must be a step-sibling?

Luann and Bernice are communicating honestly and easily with each other in today’s strip. They sound like friends!

Alan must have some very low self esteem.

Where are the twins?

Luann already loves Piro’s siblings, from now on she’ will do anything to help these little ones. Bernice seems to continue to feel uncomfortable with them, even considering that they are really calm and well-behaved. I wonder if this difference could become important in the future with Piro.

Alan is the most annoying of Piro’s siblings.

I feel good about this arc. I don’t think Piro is good for Luann and I don’t think she’s particularly interested in him romantically. Bernice maybe is, and she can have him as far as I’m concerned. I’m hoping what we get out of this long-term is getting Luann closer to a vision for her future. Maybe as a pediatric nurse?

I hope they don’t turn Alan’s crush into some dramatic thing. I crushed on college students at that age, and nobody thought it was a big deal, including me,

Ironically Bernice’s comments in panel two could easily have been applied to Brad attempting (in one reader’s recent words) to “save” Toni, who was in an abusive relationship and who came from a broken, dysfunctional family which still has ramifications in her life now. Because of her looks there was a tendency I think from both male readers and the writer to gloss over these issues and (other than her not really wanting kids) pretending they magically went away when she got involved with (ie “saved” by) Brad. In real life someone with that amount of emotional baggage would still have a lot of things to work through. She’s really not that different from Piro in that regard, it’s just that male readers don’t notice Piro is good looking and has some mystique.

That’s a good question. I think Greg wants to make an excuse to reheat the Piro-Bernice “relationship”. Hah. As if…

At Ease there Alan, At Ease!

Aww, Alan is taking Luann’s comment personally. First love is always sooo painful.And Luann is showing a better understanding of Bernice’s relationship with Piro than Bernice “the psych major” is.

So raising her self esteem is why Bernice tries to fix damaged people. Is that the basis of her friendship with Luann?

So, pay attention to what you learned, Bernice, if you really learned it.

So, Piro’s a case study. I wonder how many case studies apply to Bernice?

Luann, the strip, has become like a once thriving shopping mall, center of activity that has fallen on hard times, abandoned stores, no longer fun, and ready for the wreaking ball,

What are they reading?

The context of the second panel is an interesting one. Is Luann, “busting Bernice’s chops” as it were, given that the comic still hints that Piro is one of Bernice’s love interests, and Luann is trying to get Bernice to accept such a reality that with how messed up his life is, any shot at romance between then would be doomed to fail . . . or, has Luann still been entertaining the idea that she and Piro could very well be an item, but listening to Bernice’s psychoanalytical explanations are causing her to rethink such an arrangement?

Poor Piro has to be the parent in that family and that is not fair. No wonder he is moody. He can’t fail these innocent kids, so his life is always on hold. What a mess.

Definitely Luanns calling is to work with children. And why can’t men be friends?

Luann should definitely become a teacher. That’s where her strength lies.

I really like this arc, I hope it continues

I am guessing these kids might be used to being left alone or dumped on other people so they have learned to be well behaved and/or grateful for a safe place to be.

They’re now well-behaved because Luann knew how to calm them down. They were terrified by their mother being sick, they’re young and frightened. Luann IS really great with kids and should go into some sort of child related job field. Besides teaching, how about a pediatric nurse or doctor?

I hate the psych types. They’re always thinking that someone needs fixing when it’s really them are the ones that need fixing

Forget it Alan.

The best response to Alan would be to tell him he is a good kid. It would make him feel good while knowing he is not a romantic interest.

Careful, there, Luann – don’t start carbonating 12-year-old hormones…

If Bernice doesn’t see Piro’s siblings as at least a little endearing a relationship won’t work. There is only so many times she can pawn the kids off on Luann. And there is also Phil the CNA that Luann could be associating with outside just visiting Mrs. Horner should the creators pursue that avenue.

Dogs make magic happen. Impossible not to pet them and feel better yourself in the process if they snuggle next to you on a couch or in bed. Not a mistake that dog is God spelled backward.

Yeeeeah, let them stay a while… they’re not going to eat PB&J, mac& cheese, weenies and beans, chicken strips or soup forever…

Funny, I intuited that Bern is the fix em type yesterday in my comment. Now for the arc break (I think its safe to figure another week to this arc) and the obvious setup. She so wants to fix him. He so wants her I think. Opposites attract in this strip. Lets check it out.

Piro is messed up because of the responsibility that has been thrust upon him. Do not try to fix him, allow him to fix himself with your help and support as friends.

Bernice when you try to fix a person especially a man it hardly ever works.

This whole thing doesn’t make much sense. Why would Piro think that Bernice is so special because she talked to him on the phone when Luann is the one actually helping him? UGH!
