Is it time for Toni and Brad to adopt Shannon?

If they accept a longer time period of watching Shannon, Jonah needs to compensate them financially, at the very least, for the imposition. It costs a lot to feed a child these days.

If they did adopt Shannon.. would Toni ever want a baby of her own?

Looking for the total abandonment of your child. Pass her off to your Sis and Brad, Shannon loves you and you only care for yourself. She is better off without you.

Family needs to take of its own, you are not family.

This might lead to Shannon being there permanently or with ‘Aunt Luann’.

I have a hunch that Shannon’s heart is going to get broken. She obviously loves her daddy and wants to spend more time with him.

I was confused for a minute because I thought this was set on the east coast. What a long commute that would be. Then I remembered that they live circa San Diego, so LA isn’t that far away. But seriously, someone needs to tell Jonah that they can’t watch Shannon all the time. He has to find someone who can or find a career where he can care for Shannon. In short, Tough Love™ and a kick in the cojones.

Jonah’s acting must have improved since he ws in Les Mis.

This seems like an opportune time to repeat something that I’m fairly sure I’ve said before (and if I didn’t say it, I meant to):

Unlike some commenters here, I don’t think it’s likely or desirable that Brad and Toni will ever adopt Shannon, but I think it could be interesting if they became her primary guardians for a fairly long, but still temporary, period—say, for a few months while Jonah landed an out-of-town gig. Since they both have full-time jobs and probably sometimes draw odd shifts, and I’d like to see how they handle scheduling sitters for her. Note that the “usual suspects” wouldn’t always be available: TJ often has to be working at Kafe Kablooie, as also does Nancy these days; Luann has classes and her part-time jobs; and Frank has some vaguely specified office job.

This arc is so predictable. Jonah got a good gig and will expect Toni and Brad to raise Shannon for a long period of time. And it looks like Shannon’s heart will be broken by Jonah again before the week is over.

We’ll see if Shannon stays with Toni and Brad for the summer or if Toni will tells her brother to take his daughter with him. I also hope this discussion/possible fight doesn’t happen in front of Shannon.

If Jonah can afford trips to LA auditions, I think he can hire some other people to warehouse his trophy child. I was raised and taught that Family, looks out after family! Jonah means “You might be FORCED to do a lot more”. Toni and Brad aren’t taking care of Shannon because they WANT to, they’re doing it because Jonah is abdicating his responsibilities.

If Toni and Brad said, “Sorry, Jonah, we cannot be your fallback plan for Shannon”, what would Jonah do? Grow up? Put Shannon in Foster Care?

He’s “Enabled” by them. When will they stop it?

I’m hoping things will be different this time. I don’t want Brad and Toni to adopt Shannon; she loves her dad and he needs to work her into his life. I hope B&T tell Jonah that he needs to take Shannon along. I’m sure other people on the set have kids and that there are options for them.

So…we don’t see dad for months. And now, it looks like he’ll be there for 5 minutes and gone again. Sounds like a really close-knit family.

This kind of hits close to home for me. For years my sister and I were palmed off on any relative who would keep us. When one family got tired of us we were switched to another. We usually spent the entire summer with my grandmother and weekends with other family members. Although they were kind to us, I never “bonded” with any of them nor felt I was truly a part of these families. The excuse my mother gave was she and my dad had to work but I knew she simply did not want us around. It taught me to be self sufficient early on and it taught me that family is a transient and fragile thing. That’s why I feel so sorry for Shannon. I truly hope her dad won’t do this to her. It’s a heartbreak that you never really get over.

Adopt Shannon. Who will then hold you responsible for the disappearance of Dad.

He was gone like what, six months, for just an audition,? And all her clothes for lady six months were in that one little bag?

As long ady they don’t confront Jonah, he doesn’t see any problem. He thinks they like being of use to him.

Is Brad suppose to be about 3 years older than 19 year old Luann? If so he is only about 22 now and likely only a first year firefighter and maybe in his first or second year of marriage. So even thinking about having a bay is rushing things by today’s standards.If Pittsville is outside San Diego it should be about a 2-3 hour drive to LA.

The rest of the band consists of three obese friends. They call themselves Jonah and the Whales.

Toni and Brad can say No anytime they want. They both work full time and should not feel any guilt about not being able to take care of Shannon full time.

When researching Shannon I came across a comic where Toni said she’s her cousin but she’s really her aunt as we read… but also she was babysat with Lindy… Who is Shannon really??? I can’t help but to think she’s like Esther in the Orphan movies …. Degroot’s beware!…..

Anyone else notice that Jonah’s only interactions with his sister are to dump his child on her? They don’t have any real relationship other than Toni serving as his free on-call daycare. They never hang out as a family or spend time together.

Time to put up boundaries on taking care of Shannon. Users can always find someone to use.

Time to start charging Jonah for childcare or at the minimum coverage for Shannon’s expenses, ie; her share (let’s say 1/6 because she’s smaller,) for rent, utilities, food and any other living expenses incurred by Brad and Toni. and fully for all clothes, toys and food special for Shannon. Time daddy took some responsibility for his little girl.

Does Shannon even know that guy?

Did Shannon’s mom returned? Or does Jonah has a new interest?

Brad and Toni need to tell Shannon’s father to grow a pair and take responsibility for his actions and stop taking advantage of them. If they decide to take Shannon in, then Jonah has to pay for her expenses. Jonah is a good name for Toni’s brother, in the navy, a Jonah is something that doesn’t work.

Where is Shannon’s Mother?

I’d despair of even an older Shannon being responsible enough to be a sitter should Toni and Brad ever conceive. But that’s not fair; she’s still young.

I wonder if Jonah is going to try and transfer parental guardianship to toni and brad?

Why the heck would Ann Eiffel sleep with Jonah? She’s a gold-digger and he has nothing.
