Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I expect some sort of Looney Tunes high-speed crash in which Lupin and Ora Zella meet in the middle of the cake from opposite directions, and the rest of the scene can mostly be described by the sound âSPLAT!â
I had no idea the cake sparklers existed, but it makes sense. Theyâre very pretty, and probably sells better than the dessert cherry bombs or the dessert roman candles âŚ
I love Iggyâs concerned little ears. Iâm wondering how long it takes the sparklers to burn down so you can cut the cake. Itâs not as if you could blow them out like candles.
Be careful kitties, those explosives are made of thermite. They can burn you paws something nasty, and all those sparksâŚ. Remember, youâre 90% fur.
Itâs a nice looking cake. Too bad some of the cats are planning a disaster for it. Iâll be eating cake later on today at my youngest great-granddaughterâs first birthday party.
Ah yes, tracking the little one to play with fire inside the house.
Coming up on the 6 oâclock news: The Big Pink House On The Hill burnt to the ground by a misguided celebration. Firefighter say that instead of children, it was a couple of adults playing with fire. 4 families are now homeless and the animal shelter closed. Film at 11.
Ora looking over the shoulder, Ziggy peaking over the table, âbutter cream, strawberries, explosivesâ, FANGS!!!!!!!!!!! The cracking of knuckles to âsave the childrenâ but saving the frosting.
Lupin and Goldie, Iâll take a bowl of strawberries and buttercream frosting, please and thank you.
I took a baking class where we made tons of bread and coffee cakes and pies, but no cake. I repeat, no cake. (Coffee cake does NOT count as cake.) It was a terrific class, but no cake. Not even a cupcake. If my little freezer werenât full of bread, Iâd bake a cake now â I want/need buttercream frosting â but I have no place to put leftover cake.

Good Grief! Lupin and Goldie working together is almost as shocking as the woman being able to bake a decent cake!

Lupin and Goldie as a tag team? Who wouldâve thought!!! And Goldie cracking her knuckles. This promises to be quite an operation.

The Womanâs baking skills have improved greatly. Pity itâs doomed.
Daeder over 1 year ago
Just wait until the Woman makes a Christmas pudding and lights it on fire!
Why would she do that, you ask?
Because nothing goes better with British murder mysteries than incendiary pudding and a nice, hot cup of tea!

Donât those silly People know cakes are dangerous and unpredictable? Good thing the cats are there to keep them all safe!

The Man and Woman are more trusting than I would be, to allow both the Children and Ora Zella so close to the sparklers.

Pucky graphics and a pointer!

On top and so glowy, all ready to blow
Explosives so sparkly, put on a lit show
Puckâs chart is a treasure, dessert is a dream
Two cats are saving both kids and buttercream
The People all yaying, such joy in the season
Though itâs doubtful, can that cake ever be eaten?

Thomios: Ready for the Celebration Day picanic.
Puckmosis: Iâm still intrigued by the concept of hot dogs. Do they serve a purpose? And if so, what is it.
Thomios: Would you like mustard on your existential hot dog?
Puck: Yes, please. With pickle relish and potato salad on the side.
Elvis-Anum: Make mine a burger with cheese procured from where we know not.
Lupinium: Iâll have what Elvis is having, with bacon as well.
Sometime Later
Thomios: And now for the pyrotechnic cupcakes!
Ora Z: I helped make them.
Thomios: Yes, you did. Thanks to Sue Chef for the supervision.
Iggy: Anyone who wants to go for a sail after dessert, I have the boat ready.
Thomios: Iâm glad I baked extra cupcakes. Theyâre going fast.
Lupinium: I had nine of them.
Elvis: How could anyone eat that many?
Lupinium: Just call me Seven.

I must be completely out of touch. Are cakes with sparklers or other fireworks really a thing? Suddenly, Iâm feeling old.

Sparklers are indeed an odd ingredient for a cake, but that just makes it all the more necessary for exploration by a Cat of Adventure (or two)!

Imagine if certain known animals were more scarce and therefore seen only as legends and cryptidsâŚ
Walruses
Squirrels
Beavers
Parrots (and they can speak!)
Hedgehogs
Kangaroos
Narwhals
Surely, the most fantastical would be the platypus. No competition.
Really, for all we know, the platypus is just a cryptid with great PR.

This would be less scary if the cake were on a picnic table in the back yard but it sure looks like the regular kitchen tablecloth.

Sparklers are never a good idea inside (as I found from personal experience). They are a fun idea on a cake, though.
