So Tiff is worried about breaking up Stef and Kip?? The guy she moved in to the dorms to be with?? The girl, who was a monster, and accused her of stealing her ring?? Suuuuure!
Its Friday and we finally get to the nut of the matter. But who cares a rat’s fart whether Tiffany is breaking up a “relationship” so fragile, so brittle that merely looking at another girl can destroy it? And when did Tiffany ever care before. This is some kind of pod-person Tiffany, kinder and nicer, but not the original.
Maybe Stef will have a tragic Yam accident when the giant prize winning Yam falls off the podium crushing her. There for clearing the way for Tiff to make her move…
Tiff, you’re not fooling anyone in here. It is YOU who have the hots and you’re frustrated that Kip is taken. But you’re not gonna say that to Luann, your frenemy. You rather have her believe you’re so irresistible that Kip couldn’t help but have hots for you. There are still the vestiges of competition on your part towards Luann. Rest assured that Luann has zero interest in competing with anyone. So, drop the act and share your frustrations with your former nemesis.
Finally the real discussion begins! Tiffany is changing her story to her advantage, since she’s the one who can’t stop looking at Kip. But what’s really important is that she’s understanding she could be the cause of the breakup of a couple and that’s a bad thing. Luann will probably be really surprised to see Tiffany sad about this, considering all their years of competitions for the same guys. That’s why I’m happy she’s the one Tiffany is confiding in. Let’s hope this leads to Luann and Tiffany being more close and spending a lot of time together.
Tiffany doesn’t feel ‘guilty’. She just recognizes what a scuzz she’s acting like. As she becomes more conscious of what she’s doing, some part of her psyche is saying, “Ewww!”
This morning I am getting the feeling that this whole arc is just going to end up another as another disappointment in life for Tiffany’s character. Since the strip moved the characters to college, Tiffany has been subjected to punishment (Ann Eiffel), injury, disappointments, failures, rejections and loneliness. When will the author(s) relent and stop punishing the character, perhaps for her perceived “sins” of her svelte past? 8^ (
Luann has not fared much better in the strip since the Quill breakup. Are the author(s) signaling a reconciliation between these two and perhaps a new continuing relationship.
If you’re interviewing someone for a story that will go public, don’t you need to inform the person that’s what you’re doing? Before they spill their guts to you thinking you’re just being a caring friend who will keep it to themself?
I have a feeling Luann is going to react with, “Uh, since when do you have a conscience about coming between a couple? I remember you actively TRYING to break me and Quill up when I was dating him.”
And Tiff could be like, “Well… I mean you broke up with him so I’d have saved you time, right?”
That aside, I notice Tiffany failed to mention that she invited Kip to live at her place. That Stef somehow allowed it and that she’s only realizing NOW that it’s basically a set up for Kip to cheat his way into Tiff’s bedroom with ease. Does she not notice that it’s weird? She barely knew anything about Kip and she definitely thinks he is capable of being a two-timer.
After reading, skimming actually, the comments section for today; I find it somewhat ironic that most commenters bemoaning the fact the Tiffany’s personality is changed from the “old” Tiff. The “old” Tiff: self-centered, condescending, mean spirited member of the “gang” all these years. She has become highlighted as a character who has more challenges and resolutions than Luann, as center character, ever has. Of all the “kids” of this comic (except Brad, perhaps), she is the one who has grown and attempted more promising aspects of adult living than any of the others. She has tried entrepreneurial endeavors, working for a wage and accepting the huge responsibility of managing her father’s “manse” thrust upon her by an absent, emotionally unreachable parent.
Funny how the vapid, narcissistic cheer leader, beauty queen, actress is sorely missed!
Tiff; IF Kip is ogling you, he’s doing a better job than 99.9% of my fellow hetero males. (Not saying that there isn’t something to look at there.) You on the other hand….
Tiffany is headed for a big fall, convincing herself that she’s so irresistible that Kip will leave Stephanie for her. It’s just that he’s the kind of guy that is always flirting without even trying. It’s kind of like breathing for Kip, and he enjoys the attention he gets from women. This is why Stephanie has to keep him on a short leash.
More like vice-versa. I know I’m repeating myself, but I’m really happy Tiff and Luann ended their high school hate and can talk like friends now and again. Still got that ego thing going on, but at least she’s self-conscious about being a creeper and trying to be a good person to the people around her (who, let’s be real, are making it VERY difficult for her to do so; one in particular)
Based on the last panels with Kip and Tiff at the pool I think Tiff is entirely right, but for the twist, which is Kip merely being the guy K9, us hetero and gay men can be, given our sexual DNA (as I always warned my daughter) who only wants to conquest another girl he’s clearly attracted to, or is he really attracted to her because he really likes her? And where is Tiff on this? Is she really guilty, or triumphant, confused? Clearly, she is hot for him. As for Luann, I hope she can become an intelligent and objective reporter of all this, the better to write about it, but more likely a wacky production.
Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like she’s just trying to put the blame on someone other than herself in the event Stef & Kip do break up. Stating he can’t keep his eyes off her while it was her doing everything to get his attention at the pool doesn’t seem in synch to me.
Baby steps! Miss Tiffany is starting to grow and isn’t comfortable telling her former nemesis about her sad situation.
Yeah, Kip should end it with Stefany, anyone can see that, but Tiff doesn’t want to be the reason he does. She is trying to be a better person but old habits die hard
If Tiffany was so worried about Kip being attracted to her beautiful self, why was she jumping through hoops to get Stefanie to let him stay at the mansion? She was clearly saying and doing everything and anything she could to get Steffanie to let him to stay there. Now Tiffany’s going to convince herself that she’s so gorgeous that she’s breaking them up, and it’s a moral dilemma for her??? She got exactly what she wanted. I don’t know why she’s trying to convince herself that she’s innocent.
Tiff’s ego aside, I’m pretty sure Steph and Kip’s relationship is on the rocks because Steph is toxic, selfish, immature, and high maintenance. She’s been getting by on her looks up to this point and Kip is realizing that isn’t enough anymore.
Is there sexual tension between Tiff and Kip, or not? Whose tension is based on what trope, or is there real interest? If there is, on both sides, is it real or just horniness? Is Luann able to write, whatever, in light of the arc, or was she meant to in the first place, or is it a plot device only? So many questions, will they be answered next week? I bet this arc continues next week, for now (lol).
I have a feeling things won’t go quite as Tiffany imagines they will . . . imagine if Kip tells her she’s just not his type. What a rude awakening that would be.

I always think this tired trope is annoying.
Another person cannot “make” a couple breakup…. If one person of a couple strays…. the breakup is the fault of the person who strayed.
In other words… no matter what Tiffany does or doesn’t do…. if Kip engages romantically with Tiffany…. It will be Kip who altered the “couple”.
