Poor Sophie! With her pretty dress, just 1 sighted eye, no claws (delicate paws), and sensitive disposition, she is in no condition to be outdoors.

Is that the first time we’ve seen an epic Sophie tail poof—panel one. At first I thought it was the trunk of the bush, but when I enlarged it, I realized it was her beautiful tail all poofed out. It’s still poofed as she’s running away.

Avenger: Sophititi was looking for new flowers. Now we don’t know where she is.

Emma: And you think she may have gotten hold of a Space Time Anemone? But she’s an expert.

Avenger: The Royal Procurers are on the scene. They got there as soon as they heard. I’m going to talk to Puckmosis and meet with the Queen.

Queen Catshepsut the Golden: This is a serious business, but I know that we have the best of the best on the job.

Today is Katie’s fourth anniversary of her ‘gotcha day’ from the shelter. She’s the queen of the house and rules with an iron paw. She still wishes Yogi Bear lived somewhere else, but she has eased up a bit on screaming at him. She waits until he naps after dinner, then runs up, bops him on the nose, and runs. He looks up, confused, and goes back to sleep. To say she is a ‘mean girl’ is a good description. And Hubby and I love her to pieces.

I did not realize that Sophie is blind in one always thought she had bicolor eyes. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Our senior lady Meesha scared us half to death weekend before last—she slipped out an open door while hubby was unloading the van—when it was totally dark outside! We live in a very rural area, so no streetlights or such. By the time he could grab a flashlight and start looking, she had disappeared. He was up all Thurs. and Fri. nights checking for her every half hour, banging on her metal bowl with a spoon (That’s the “come & get it!” signal" and searching up and down the road. By Saturday a.m. he was totally wiped and so sad. Then about 10:00 a.m. hubby spotted her baby brother sitting in the catio staring fixedly out the screen, which is not normal behavior. HRH was sitting out there looking pathetic and scolding Onyx for not going to fetch daddy to let her back inside!!! He came in with her wrapped in his arms and I raced to provide 2nd breakfast immediately. Was so relieved to have her safely back where she belonged.

Has Sophie ever been outside before?

No doubt this will be an unpleasant experience for her to go through … but just imagine the art she’ll create on the other side of it!

Question: Is that a cricket or (maybe) a cicada lookin’ for love?

I wonder if anycat heard that hysterical scream… And, once Sophie calms down, will this crisis cause any Existential Dread?

I was doing an online search trying to find background information about the real Sophie, and I found a link to her woman’s Facebook page that actually let me see the content. (Sometimes a direct link will let me in, but the link to the BCN Facebook page on the about tab won’t.)Now that enough time has passed for her woman to grieve the loss of Tommy, Sophie and a third cat named Leia who never made it into the BCN universe, she has a beautiful new cat named Darla. She’s a gray tabby tuxedo. I can’t post to Facebook, but I wish I had some way to congratulate her on allowing another cat into her life.

This is how Elvis’s big outdoor adventure started — with a cardinal startling him so that he ran. Poor Sophie, this must be terrifying! I’m sure, like Tommy rescued Elvis, another kind soul will help Sophie get home.

That’s one huge cricket! I recently finished reading all of Robert van Gulik’s Judge Dee series. I knew about people keeping crickets in cages, but until I read those books, I’d never heard of fighting crickets. This fellow does not look like a fighter, he’s a musician, and so long as he stays clear of Lupin he should be fine.

Most cats I’ve known will catch crickets, some will eat them, others just bring them to a human, either as a donation or wanting it fixed so they can chase it again. This panic really shows Sophie’s character and innocence.

She’s not really an “outdoor” kind of girl, is she?

I feel for Sophie. For some reason, maybe because they tended to hop out of nowhere, I did not like crickets when I was a kid.

Crickets come in two varieties. Extremely Dapper and Cultured or Very Down-Home and Rural, ie City Cricket, Country Cricket. One will play Violin, the other will play a fiddle. Both are friendly to all.Sophie may find the Country Cricket more to her liking…

OT: Late Breaking Chaos News

Oh I’m just wrecked after the drama at my place! One of our Momma Raccoons, whose name is Wallis (after Wallace the Brave because she has tiny ears that stick out sideways) has two babies this year, who are just getting big enough to romp properly and get into everything. Well, Monday dawn, when all good raccoons are heading home to bed, Wallis was whoodling and trilling, which are baby-calling noises, all over the property. Furthermore she kept approaching other raccoon families and sniffing their babies, as if she was asking “Are you my baby? You’re not my baby!” for which she got nipped and snapped at several times by the actual mommas. (I have four mommas in the neighborhood this year.) finally she climbed up on the roof of the storehouse and just cried. It was the saddest thing you ever heard, and I was thinking the worst must have happened and wondering what went down. When the next night a big male we call Plushie Bear was in the yard I wondered if he had eaten her babies. Males will do that. She and her babies are in my yard every evening at sundown reliably, and it was just her, and she even came up and sniffed me and looked at me with sad eyes.

So, about two in the morning I was awakened by a clanging noise. Door cam reveals two little tuggers playing with a paint bucket, one inside it and the other rolling him around the yard crashing into everything. And their momma came running! She acted just like a human mother whose children have run amuck, kissed and snoodled them all over, then grabbed each by the back of the neck and shook them like, “And don’t do that again!” Oh I’m so relieved. Still don’t know where the little rascals were but I owe Plushie an apology for thinking ill of him, since I saw him later babysitting a tiny one very gently.
