On the other hand, maybe Liz deserved what she got, by playing games.

The stink lines over Elizabeth’s head in the final panel lets the reader know that when Elizabeth is angry, her head smells bad.

With friends like that, who needs enemies? Poor Liz.

Elizabeth was conflicted on breaking up with Anthony. She wasn’t sure, and Candace was the one primarily pushing her, and then “helpfully” offering to do it for her.

It appears that Candace saw an opening, and widened it on her own initiative, for her own purpose.

Candace manipulated Liz into believing breaking up (something of which she was still not sure) was a done deal, and then convinced her that it would be better if it was done by a third party. Once it was fait accompli, she turned the discussion around and blamed Liz (“so low-class!”).

Elizabeth is minus one boyfriend, and minus one faux-friend.

Lesson learned by poor Liz…

Girls are catty

Liz needs to learn that’s what happens when you date, and break up with a guy by committee. She couldn’t make up her mind and had to discuss it with her friends, and then took the low road to have her friend do the hard/uncomfortable work of breaking up with her boyfriend.

The first woman teamed up with a snake and it trickled down through the ages. A man will just punch you in the face but a woman will hit you from every possible angle.

Liz is a coward and Candace is just plain mean.

And just like that, you know she’s not your friend.

Everybody tries different things when they’re kids. She found out the easy way isn’t always the best way. No biggy. Trial and error. Now she just needs to drop ’em both. Lesson learned.

There isn’t a single innocent party in this not even Anthony who didn’t bother to even check with Liz for the facts

Candace has just proved that she is NOT your friend.

Elizabeth is probably looking in the mirror then seeing herself turning into a giant lollipop that says SUCKER, a la Looney Tunes.

They have drinking fountain in the girls restroom? Uck how unsanitary and imagine getting a drink when some girl farts loudly in the stall next to it.

Not defending Candace, but Liz is confronted with the consequences of her own actions. Swallow the bitter pill that you made and put in your mouth yourself, Liz.

Candace wanted a shot at Anthony but Elizabeth was hanging the poor guy out to dry. So Candace helped things move along. Anthony was suffering because Elizabeth wasn’t being open. If Candace didn’t take the initiative, Elizabeth would have waited until right before or even during the dance. This way it works out for all three. Candace gets an opportunity at a good guy. Anthony doesn’t get played and Elizabeth learns about honesty.

Anthony not so boring now, is he, Liz?

Anthony could probably live with that arrangement. As the saying goes, “There’s more than one fish in the ocean.”

Nowadays its the equivalent of breaking up by text

I know that back in my schools, there weren’t water fountains in the bathrooms ……. odd, and a little unhygienic.

The only thing Liz can throw at Candace are sinks and toilets, and she’s not strong enough to rip t hem out of the walls.

Candace is a “really good friend” isn’t she Liz

And the winner is: Anthony! He got rid of a girl who did not appreciate him and got a date with a MUCH better looking one.

Liz did Anthony dirty and Candace did Liz dirty. But you know what? It’s par for the course. I’ve long thought kids that age should not get involved in serious romantic relationships in the first place. Most are much too young and immature, so nonsense like this happens and they take it way too seriously.

Gotta wonder just how Liz thought this was gonna go!

Now how do you reconcile it with Anthony? The grass isn’t always greener, most times it’s a yellow patched weed bed.

Isn’t there a “girl’s code” that a girl doesn’t date a girl friend’s ex without asking her first if it’s ok?

Anyway, Elizabeth could just tell Anthony that Candace made it all up for her own nefarious purpose; in other words, she certainly didn’t want to break up-Candace sad it on her own.

You were played, Liz. You really should have known it was too good to be true.
