This is reminding me of several years ago when I served as a house and petsitter for my aunt and uncle while they were away for the weekend. They had a really crazy weenie dog who was such a spastic little character, I figured the weekened would be a blast for both of us . . . but nope. He spent the entire time pouting – he wouldn’t eat, he wouldn’t play, he wouldn’t go potty, nothing. I kept trying to engage and play with him, but he just remained on the couch under his blanket.
She’s outsmarted herself. She’ll find out the hard way. Typical psyche major. Or at least typical of the ones I knew in college. Always analyzing every word or emotion their friends had. Made us nuts.
Cute comic. Bernice is a trying to figure out why Puddles is whining and thinks it is because he misses his family, which is reasonable. She is planning to give him some cuddles and talk to him to help him feel better. When you think about dogs and people, dogs use body language and can’t understand most words people are saying to them. Bernice is trying to help Puddles feel less lonely and Puddles can’t tell her what he needs. If it wasn’t a comic strip, the next frame would be Puddles getting her attention and going to the door. Greg and Karen have created a funny comic strip. I appreciate the humour in it.
Once again, Bernice shows how unsuitable she is to become a psychologist and how much she considers herself to be way better than she is. I really hope Puddles doesn’t get on the couch, because he’ll soon show Bernice why he’s fussing. Poor, misunderstood lil dog! This makes you understand that for the entire time Bernice was a guest in the Degroots house, she never took Puddles out by herself. She just accompanied Luann when she did it and only sometimes. I love to see a Sunday page linked to the arc of the week.
Oh c’mon Bernice. You’ve lived there long enough that you should know his bathroom routine and sometimes there is no routine & they want out just to go out. I always say that I am a doorman for my dogs. No, a dog door would not work for us.
We trained our Mastiff to ring a bell at the back door when he wanted to go out, it worked great, he caught onto it the first try and with that system never had another accident in the house.
Every time I see a comic like this I remember several years ago there being a very prolific poster who kept insisting that they bring back Bernice. Be careful what you wish for.
It’s clear that Bernice is looking at other people’s issues to ignore her own issues and just by this strip alone, I can tell that she’s got a lot of them.
This time of year you can usually buy a strip of jingle bells which will hang on your doorknob. You can train your dog to ring the bells when they need to go. We did that.
My mother was going to Ggrand Chapter of the Eastern Star here in Florida. Her little miniature dachshund, Snoopy, came up to me and he sat up on his hind legs and I praised him for it. He looked really worried in a doggy way. He barked and I thought about it. I finally realized what he was trying to tell me, so I opened the door and let him relieve himself outside. After that we did well enough. I understood enough doggy language to get by.
Maybe Piro should have taken a lesson from Puddles when Bernice wanted him to “sit right down here” and get psycho-analyzed! If only there was another panel! We could see the correct response demonstrated!
Attention everyone! I recently took a bad fall and, while my recovery time will be extensive all is well and I’m expecting to recover 100%. However, I wanted to give a warning to anyone out there who is wearing crocs shoes——be careful. Seems the shoes have an issue with wanting to stub up on you unexpectedly. That’s what happened to me and it ended with some serious results—a smashed kneecap and a severed tendon! So please be cautious. The manufacturers are even advising people to put tape on the ends of the shoes to try and mitigate the tripping hazard. Take care my friends. Bless you and may all your steps be safely taken!!!!!
One of our cats whines anytime Hubby disappears on the other side of a closed door. He’s the one who rescued her from the backyard as a hungry stray kitten.
Oh, Bernice, a psychologist you’re not. During the whole I care for you Puddles moment, you never put down your laptop. Humans as with pets, follow body language over words.
I think SHE thinks she is smart – but smart is as smart does and she is about to have some extra laundry! She is so full of herself she cannot realize Pud is going to explode.

Here we have one of those unusual cases of a Sunday strip being connected—albeit somewhat indirectly—to the weekday story line.

Wow! I thought Sunday strips were independent of the weekly arc? This is a rare one, indeed.
Bernice better take Puddles for a walk before he shows her how he got his name.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s strip, where we can hopefully see the inside of the cabin.
