So is Bernice turning over a new leaf and (gasp!) actually becoming a good friend again??

What’s wrong with being confident?

The last time I heard of comfy shoes being used to describe anything related to women, it was in Vietnam, and a blurb on the radio of how it’s a politically correct euphemism for lesbians.

At least Bernice is actually being sincerely helpful to Luann for a change.

If you have known a potential partner as a friend, then it doesn’t really matter what you wear on a ‘date’ – you already know and like each other, so why suddenly present a new and different face? Speaking as one who married a long term friend…

Oh, oh…a white shirt makes a palette for drippy ice cream!

Where did that outfit come from? I am trying to remember any other time Luann dressed like that.

Do many women wear comfy shoes on date? Most young women I know want their shoes to look pretty, Comfy is barely a consideration.

I still want to shove Bernice down the Memory Hole.

And try not to spend the whole night looking like you just saw a ghost.

Can’t understand why Luann’s head is bigger than Bernice’s in the last panel. After all, it isn’t Luann with the overblown ego!

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve seen B actually acting supportive…

Holy smokes! Bernice got it right. She’s hitting 2 for 2.

Yes, this is what Luann needs, someone to push her out and tell her to work hard and not be insecure! I’m happy to see that Bernice can still be a great friend. Luann looks really good dress like that. Let’s hope the date will be fun, romantic and that she and Phil can get to know each other more.

Besides the “gasp” Bernice giving sweet advice to her bff, her recognition of Lu’s fear about this nascent relatiinshiop with Phil, and her encouragement for Lu is the beautuful and understanding act of true friendship. Luann needs the push. Plus she’s so cute.

Bern is a good friend, but Lu has needed the tough way more than the tender with all her waffling and poor decisions

Luann’s obviously worked up, but this is also her big test. It’s been years since she dumped Quill. She and Phil are older. And she won’t be able to “just hold hands” and keep Phil interested for any duration. Its time for her to Put Up or Shut Up!

She does need earrings or a necklace. She needs one flirty “I wore this because I like you” piece to look like she’s getting dressed for a date instead of a day as a substitute teacher. To give him confidence.

Bernice is actually giving good advice and being helpful? This must be a dream.

Okay, I’m going to zag while everyone else is zigging on Bernice’s behavior. Given her very self-centered attitude and penchants for narcissistic behavior, perhaps Bernice sees this as an opportunity to get Luann out of the picture so she can be the only one focusing on Piro.

For once Bernice is supportive.

That’s one of Luann’s major problems is she overthinks things when getting dressed. just go with the flow and relax. its not like youre going to the opera or a wedding.

She does look very nice. And Bernice helped her find the perfect outfit. She’s being a good friend to a nervous Luann. I hope her evening goes well.

Interesting about the woman needing confidence. In my mind, it’s normally the guy who needs the confidence, and the woman just goes with the flow, and that depends on the actions of the guy. Women usually seem plenty confident already.
