He managed to unlock, slide open, slip in L’ll Starfish Squeaker, and relock the window to keep Sophie safe!

Starfish Squeaker makes me think that Mrs Tidy was not entirely clueless. She did think of providing one toy.

They are so sweet together! With Cool Mister Cricket providing a seranade and the moon working up to full and adorable Xmas light bugs also illuminating the scene, what a charming scene! I think they enjoy a lot of the same things. All we need now is to locate the warrior mice! Hopefully they will make an appearance soon! Do we think Dear Georgia responded to the Orb’s requests or was this her plan all along?

Ahhhh, a budding romance. And Gutter is such a gentleman. He made sure to lock the screen so Sophie wouldn’t accidently fall out.

And the Cool Cricket Guy completes the scene with a romantic serenade, a romantic happy ending for all! Best of all, Sophie and Gutter saved each other.

I don’t know if it is planning on her part or coincidence, but there is to be a full moon on Aug 19 – which means the rendering of her moon in this strip is accurate! Apparently August’s full moon is a rare super blue moon – USA Today has a nice, quick read about it.

Gutter has that low key romance vibe…guys might want to take notes.

This strip brings home an important idea. When two people truly love each other, they also save each other. At least metaphorically.

Obviously, the screen can be unlocked because he passed the starfish squeaker through. But Sophie feels safe in her window and isn’t ready to tempt outdoors again.

Geeks everywhere must do a little happy dance to acknowledge Georgia’s attention to the moon being in its correct phase. I remember when James Cameron’s Titanic first debuted, and astronomers complained about the ‘lazy sky’. I love how that most of the audience were crying their hearts out over Rose and Jack clinging to a piece of debris, freezing to death, but the die hard science types were grumbling, “Hey, the placement of those stars ain’t right for that time of year in that part of the hemisphere. BOO!!!!!”

Sweet, gentle, romantic, absolutely perfect!

What a great way to end the Day!!!

I’m feeling all warm and squishy from this ending. Considering how disturbed I was by the beginning or this story that says a lot about Georgia’s great writing.

This is a good start, sweet and simple.

I always preferred Georgia’s earlier artwork. Very clean.

Such a lovely scene! Sophie and Gutter are so content and Starfish Squeaker looks happier than ever. All under the light of the accurately timed waxing moon.

Ah the joys of an opposable thumb!

I had been thinking that Gutter took Starfish Squeaker from the living room when no one was looking, but it makes more sense that he salvaged her from the dumpster. There was probably also several hundred feet of previously white carpeting in there.

Just noticed some of Starfish Squeaker’s glitter is transferring to Sophie! Her glittery joy seems to be spreading!

Can I please live inside a BCN moonlit night sky? So beautiful!

Oh yeah! Raccoons have clever little hands! Why didn’t all us smarties with our big human brains think of that?

On what floor do Sophie, Tommy and their Woman live? I thought they were upstairs.

It is Black Cat Appreciation Day. It is time for all of you to show your mini-black panthers how much they mean to you. Hamilton A. Cat and Belle Cat will get a few extra little kitty nom-noms sometime this afternoon.

That’s how Starfish Squeaker got inside! Gutter unlocked and relocked the screen!

Thanks Georgia! You and the Cats are an island of sanity in a treacherous sea of madness.

Well I think this is a splendid ending for Sophie and Gutter! I hope he can tell Sophie his true feelings soon. And I’m glad to see fireflies—they’re getting scare in my neck of the woods.

This was a fun story arc. I always knew Sophie would be coming home, but the way her woman found her was genius. And this last panel is so romantic!

I don’t comment much here, but I’d like to say that I enjoy your strip on a very high level. (Swan Eaters, too.) I don’t know if you hear enough how much we appreciate you. I have been a huge fan of comics since I was very young. They always seemed to reflect the best of life, people and society; a kind of mirror of who we are. I have always had favorites that stood head and shoulders above the rest – Calvin and Hobbes, Fox Trot, Cul de Sac, Peanuts, Sheldon, Stone Soup, Mutts, Wallace the Brave. So many others. Yours is right there beside these great strips. I love yours not only because it’s a pet strip (I have five cats as well, 8 to 19 years old) and well written, but visually beautiful. Your art is unique, and inspired. The above strip is one that captures all the qualities I so admire – story, dialogue, art, wistful gentle relationships we should all aspire to. You’ve managed to capture great common humor and tie to the common experience of anyone who has ever had a lifetime of love from a cat. I buy all your books for myself and give them as gifts to several friends for Christmas. There is nothing nicer than to read them on snowy Sundays in front of the fire – it refreshes my soul. I am so glad that you have found success at this art form. Continue these strips, I will always be right here to read them, and appreciate them. That little breath of life every day has been a godsend through these last trying years. I have prayed for the continued blessings, protection, inspiration, creation, and happiness of you and your family, as well as your furry companions. Thank you for this contribution to the world. Life should be what you’ve reflected in your strips. What a wonderful world it would be,
